I know I'm not the only Summer/Ryan fan. So I thought that this board should be sharing in the Summer/Ryan lurve.

Anyway, here is the FF OC boards, S/R thread layout, all credit obviously goes to the FF OC board S/R thread. I hope its okay, that I dragged it here. If not, let me know and I will remove it.

I love the idea of these two, and totally hope to see them together in the future.

I more ship these two as friends, but I agree on the hotness. They would be hot. But right now, I want them to get a friendship going.

I'm more into them as friends, too, mainly because I don't want a girl; to come between Ryan and Seth. But maybe like a hot weekend together.

Oh lord, a hot weekend would be swell. But given that this is the OC... it would never be *just* a weekend.

But yeah, a proper friendship developing scene would be nice. I want to see more one on one, personally.

For me, these two would just click more that S/S. I mean I love Seth more than words, I love Summer, I enjoy their scenes together, but I just can't "love" them together. So, I totally think that it is inevitable that Summer and Ryan hook-up. IMO it would be criminal to leave this potential for maximum hotness, unexplored.

I would be worry about the Seth/Ryan bond though. I mean they are my biggest ship, on this show. Hopefully, the writers wouldn't go the Dawson's way of "We will never be friends again".

I think that Seth and Marissa are most definetly going to happen, no matter how much I really don't know if I want it. So that would probably bring these two together some more, Summer would probably be mad at Seth and Marissa, so they'd be friends. It'd develop into more. I'm pretty sure we'll get to see them, but I just don't want them to become the main couple. And I'd still want my Setha nd Summer back eventually!

Don't say that Aly! Seth/Marissa are never going to happen. NEVER! I won't accept that.

I'm sure Ryan/Summer will find another way to bond, like how both their mothers abandoned them. I'm imagine Summer's did, where is her mom? This is why we need to introduce Summer's homelife.

I think Ryan/Summer bonding over their broken homes is a much better storyline than their jealousy of Seth/Marissa (Ugh, I don't even like typing their names like that) If there's gonna be any couple swapping, it should be R/S-- least that makes sense. Putting the most loved character and the most hated together is just plain WRONG. I can't stand Marissa enough as it is. Having her be with Seth would kill my love for him.

I never saw a relationship building with S/M except in the earlier episodes then it kinda stopped once Summer got more airtime.

Do some people really believe S/M might be more of a possibilty than Ry/Su? I really don't think so. The fact is Josh has admitted and shown on more than one occassion that he is very susceptible to fan opinions and fans' wants; e.g. a number of things said and commented on at TWOP which worked it's way into the show's dialogue, Anna's extended role which was only because a bunch of fans thought she was so cool in The Debut and wanted her back on the show. In the same frame the majority of fans didn't like her and Seth together because they thought they were too similar and boring. What do you know, Seth voices the EXACT opinion many people had by questioning whether or not he was dating the "female version" of himself. Even Summer's more screentime was again because the fans were demanding it.

The point is if Josh is so in tune with his fan base, I do not see S/M happening; unless it's MANY, MANY seasons down when he has completely run out of ideas and storylines. Let us face facts, the majority of this show's fan base HATES Marissa. I'm talking hate, detest, would like to see her gone from their screens. For the few who don't hate her as strongly, they are simply disinterested and can't care about her at all (that would be me). After the fiasco that was the Oliver storyline; Josh would have to be willing to create "career suicide" to try S/M. To break-up the most popular pairing, next to KANDY; to place one half with his most hated character? I can't really see it happening.

With all that said; I have to say I never saw any point where Josh was hinting at S/M. Yeah, yeah we had The Model Home episode, where they discovered the many things they had in common. However unlike many I never read anything into that episode. For one thing it was common knowledge that part of their conversation was just an actual discussion Adam and Mischa had about punk music that Josh worked into the script and two, I just saw their discovering things they had in common as another example of why Ryan coming into their lives was so significant. These two kids grew up next to each other and until this stranger came into their lives, they were so insignificant to each other that they didn't even know they actually had quite a few things in common. I never saw it as romantic or foreshadowing romance in any way whatsoever. Plus Marissa barely has chemistry with Ryan, I don't see her having any with Seth. Especially since all their scenes have never really screamed HOT or PASSIONATE in any shape or form.

Ryan/Summer is more believable as a future possibility (though I have to be honest and admit I am not a fan. I detest couple swapping on shows. Many people disagree but I'm convinced that's what killed Dawson's Creek). For one thing, many fans seem to be supporters of that pairing; even some die-hard S/S shippers. Two, they established a basic attraction when they had Summer interested in Ryan in the early episodes of the show; so it wouldn't be completely inconceivable to have her be into him again.

I have to say that if Ry/Su does happen I would hope it's when the kids are in college and both Ryan and Seth aren't living at the Cohens. I don't know maybe I am too prudish like my friends claim but I just think it would be incredibly tacky and tasteless to have Summer move from having sex with the boy in the main house to the boy in the pool house. Wow that post went longer than expected. I don't know the idea of S/M inspires me to rant a bit.

Glad to have helped. Don't worry, when it comes to S/M, just go with my favoured belief i.e. Seth hates Marissa; and not your "I pretend to hate you because I want you so much" but the "I hate you but tolerate you because my friend is dating you and my girlfriend is your best friend." Works for me all the time.

While I disagree with the Dawson's comment, IMO the couple swapping saved the show. It revitalised it. But I totally agree that I highly doubt that Seth/Marissa will join forces. Yeesh, I hope not. But man am I hoping for Summer/Ryan. I can't explain why I just can't "love" S/S... I've tried, but I don't know, they just lack something IMO. Something, that I think R/S could totally replace.

But at this point, I am totally just wanting an expansion on their friendship.
