Aw, Phee that's awesome! I love that scene so much.

I was reading Roger Ebert's review of "A walk on the moon" and he calls Viggo's character a "long haired god". While I'm a christian and any mention of the word "god" in any other context makes me uncomfortable I found it amusing that Roger Ebert would choose those exact words.

This is a great movie. I don't know why reviewers don't admit it.

Anyway, Roger Ebert says:

Quote:
Unfortunately, the casting and some of the romantic scenes sabotage it. Liev Schreiber is a good actor, and I have admired him in many movies, but put him beside Viggo Mortensen and the Blouse Man wins; you can hardly blame Pearl for surrendering. (I am reminded of a TV news interview about that movie where Demi Moore was offered $1 million to sleep with Robert Redford. ``Would you sleep with Robert Redford for a million dollars?'' a woman in a mall was asked. She replied: ``I'd sleep with him for 50 cents.'') The movie's problem is that it loads the casting in a way that tilts the movie in the direction of a Harlequin romance. Mortensen looks like one of those long-haired, bare-chested, muscular buccaneers on the covers of the paperbacks; all he needs is a gothic tower behind him, with one light in a window. The movie exhibits almost unseemly haste in speeding Pearl and the Blouse Man toward lovemaking, and then lingers over their sex scenes as if they were an end in themselves, and not a transgression in a larger story. As Pearl and the Blouse Man cavort naked under a waterfall, the movie forgets its ethical questions and becomes soft-core lust.
Ouch...

But if the whole point of the movie is that Pearl had sex with another man for the first time ever and those encounters were so passionate and mind blowing that she risked her marriage to be with the Blouse Man, then hell if the sex scenes aren't essential!

I didn't hear anybody complaining about "Cold Mountain" or "Monster's Ball".

WORD! And of course I'm completely biased, but I see nothing wrong with any of the sex scenes.

Calling it a "Harlequin romance" is getting a bit carried away. It's not like the whole thing is just Pearl and Walker shagging each other senseless with no point to it all, and without any moral ramifications. That Mr Ebert should get a clue.

Oh, and thanks, glad you like the wp.

Pssh, what's Roger Ebert's problem? There's nothing wrong with soft-core lust. I happen to be a big fan of it.

Haha. He likes NC-17 movies when he thinks they deserve the license to sex up the activities. Maybe he thought the movie went to fast and that the story wasn't developed enough. Which is dumb because Viggo IS the story.

Odd little sleeper turns up on TV

By Robert Horton
Herald Movie Critic

Today

"Rick," 10 p.m., Sundance. A chance to see a blink-and-you-missed-it sleeper, a very odd but original dark comedy loosely based on "Rigoletto." Bill Pullman leads the cast; it was written by Daniel Handler, aka "Lemony Snicket" (it's not for kids). 2004.

Saturday

"A Walk on the Moon," 8 p.m., KTWB. Great roles for Diane Lane and Viggo Mortensen fuel this atmospheric look at a housewife tempted to stray during a summer in the late '60s. 1999.
A sleeper indeed. I hope more people get to watch this!

Ohhh, neat! I can only imagine the reactions of those poor unsuspecting women. Viggo's about to charm a new generation...

Ok, ok... Let me dream.

Why would anyone mind seeing some Viggo skin? Nekkid Viggo lol just for the record, those sex scenes, especially the waterfall one, were beautiful and sexy and not porn or whatever.

I want a WotM re-run!!!

That review is hysterical. I didn't see anything in this movie that I haven't seen in other movies. There is alot more skin in alot of movies than in this movie. Besides, no complaints from me from seeing Viggo's skin!

Hehe. I guess it caught them by surprise since the movie started in such a family-oriented kinda way! ...But they should've known they didn't cast Viggo for nothing!

You can get the family together and view Viggo naked. No problems there.
