Viggo Mortensen - Viggo on DVD

I love DVDs and I like VM.

Recently a lot of older Viggo movies have resurfaced due to his LOTR popularity. Some of those obscure movies are coming out on DVD and others are already on DVD format but it is not widely known because the Region coding makes it impossible for a person to have them all unless they have a multi region DVD player.

Anyway, I thought we could have a thread to keep up with the releases in all Region formats, etc.

**As of now Viggo's Vanishing Point is coming on DVD (R1) out on March 8, 2005.

**A special edition of American Yakuza is coming out on DVD (R2) some time this year. The special edition doesn't bring much other than a tribute to Viggo's career (which is great) a trailer and stills gallery. So, it's up to the person who already has the movie to decide if it's worth buy again.

Also there are rumors of The Passion of Darkly Noon being released on DVD after all. As of now the movie is only formatted in VHS alone.

I love DVDs and VM as well.

We had bought a couple of Viggo dvds (in region 1 and 3). It's funny oz when we got Leatherface (texas Chainsaw) dvd, on the cover sheet it has his name and following his name was "(Lord of the Rings)" it's like, hey this movie came after texas chainsaw.

pretty funny when they update features and stuff for dvds.
I am yet to get hold of the Passion of Darkly Noon.

Haha. I love that! Oh man I still haven't seen Leatherface III, I hear he acts all whacky, which I find great!

Passion of Darkly Noon is available in amazon... I don't know how good the copy is, though. But I will have to get one if this movie doesn't really resurface in the updates. I really want to see it since I love Ashley Judd.

oh my! You should have Leatherface. Viggo in that girlie apron and acts really lunatic. ANd eating all those human body parts... eughhh.. but still he's looks great!

Is that Passion of ... in dvd already?

Okay, I haven't seen Leatherface but now I have to so I can see Viggo in an apron!

Ohhh you tickle my curiosrity!!! Like Jazz, I want to see it now!

Sadly, Passion of Darkly Noon is not on DVD. But let's all hope that it gets a release, even it's just the movie. I mean, Ashley Judd, Viggo and Brendan Fraser are stars, this movie should really be out there.

yeah, it should be released as DVD. I saw some screencaps and I'm dying to watch him and Ashley make out.

I can't even buy the VHS cuz we have NTSC here, most prolly it's on PAL. So good luck...

i haven't seen Vanishing Point and i'd be delighted if this one will be out on dvd.

There is a little movie that Viggo was in called Gimlet or something like that. I have it on tape somewhere. Has anyone ever seen it? I watched abit of it but haven't gotten through the whole thing yet. It was only available on tape and it's not a good copy that I have. I have to transfer it to DVD somehow.

You have GIMLET! -> *envy at work*

As far as I know there isn't a great Gimlet copy, all anyone has found are good enough tapes.

To transfer to DVD you need a VCR-DVD combo that copies either way. I have one at home but I've only attempted a transfer once, without success I should add.

I need to read instructions before trying stuff like that, though.

Yes, I have Gimlet! That's a hard to find movie. Really hard to find and I'm surprised that I managed to find it without alot of searching. But I think I got the last copy or something like that. It's an indie film and I haven't watched everything yet.

Wait, do you have an "official" release or something? Because then that's gold. I'm ordering the film from a site that has it from a copy that's not great but you can tell what's going on, etc.

Same place where everyone orders Viggo movies no one can find

I need to get some money first but I'm excited about some of the films.

Oh yeah, I wish I had an official copy. The movie is an independence film, not meant to be released to the public. There is a master copy but no official copy.
