Nice to see you posting here again. I'm glad you liked it. We also have an episode discussion thread up, HERE. I hope to see you there

It's great to see how they make Milo such a lead in the series.

Thanks for the link, Alexia. This should be an interesting discussion.

Neuter Hiro, Sylar and Peter
Regarding Peter, I agree that having all those powers creates logic holes when he dosen't use them (future Peter running into a room to hide a gun makes no sense at all to me). I think the writers are constantly using Peter's naivety as an excuse but that's starting the whole argument some fans have as seeing him as acting stupidly. They need to find another way to hinder Peter's abilities so that he isn't so powerful. But how? I wish the writers had his powers tie into his emotions more because that was the heart of his character in the beginning, and maybe have his emotions cloud his judgement in being able to use them? But, after season 2, I guess it's a little late to introduce that. I think they moved too quickly in having him understand how to use them last season.

Quote:
Develop Characters and Play to Actors' Strengths
I couldn't agree more with this. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying this season much more than season 2, but the heart of the show has been sorely missing. When season 1 started, TPTB said in some interview that the show wouldn't be the X men and would be more about them as people, real people, dealing with these powers. But they've lost focus of that. It's now all about plot, and the characters themselves are getting lost in it. Milo shines when he is given the chance to express himself, but the writing jumps from one plot point to the next and isn't allowing these actors to breathe. We might understand the recent plots more if characters were allowed to talk about them more. There's been no real heartfelt communication. I mean, Peter shot Nathan. He shot him. And we haven't had one decent scene with the two of them talking about that and dealing with it. We're losing out on the human aspect of these characters.

Quote:
Idiot-Proof All Plots
I do think some things are done because the writers think it'll be a great twist no one sees coming, but it ends up not being very logical to the character. But, again, if characters were allowed to talk about their decisions more we might understand them more.

Quote:
Mix in Standalone Episodes
This show is in dire need of a Petrelli family episode ala Company Man.

Quote:
Revisit Some Plots and Questions
It would be nice to see Peter and Nathan talk more about how Nathan saved him in the season one finale, showcasing their brotherly love/bond. Even a mention of Caitlin and how he feels (like, does what happened to Caitlin affect how he feels about getting close to another woman again?). The Caitlin incident alone should have taught Peter (even future Peter) a lesson about the Butterfly effect, but no mention of it.

Quote:
Separate the Wheat From the Chaff
I don't mind all the characters. They had a lot going on in season one and did it well so there's no reason they can't now.

Quote:
Bring Back Some of the Humor and Joy
I'm repeating myself again, but it's harder to add humor to scenes involving quick plot and not as much 'discussion'. Hiro and Ando have those moments of humor because we've seen them just... talk. We've seen Ando question Hiro on why he thinks Ando could kill him. We haven't seen that between other characters, like Peter and Nathan, because before they can start to talk the plot moves on. Milo can add natural humor to his scenes, if given the chance and the time to express himself more.

Quote:
Avoid Stereotypes
I don't really buy into that. All characters have been victims in their own way, as they learn from mistakes. I also thought Ali's characters have been rather strong. Peter, for example, has been a victim of his own mistakes. No one is perfect.

Kelly you should have written the article you had a lot of good points.

I know they are most dysfunctional family on TV it would be nice to see some flash backs on how they were. Like how Peter's father was against him being a nurse, and both him and Nathan were ready to go against him more of a back story would be nice to see.

They can't seem to do that again for some reason, it was nice when they were all on their own but yet they were all connected some how, and would have chance meetings.

I agree I would like to see them all trying to act normal, not with the whole I have to save the world. Like Peter going back nursing but because of his powers have the struggle of when to use them or not. I mean he could go back in time and prevent someone from getting hurt, he could read someone's mind to see if they are telling the truth of how they really got hurt things like that.

I miss the heart of the show too. It is all action and reaction and that handcuffs the actors IMO. The only real hint of heart is with HRG and Claire. The comedy aspects seem forced and though I do like seeing others with powers, it does take away time from the core group.

In short, I want Peter from seasons 1 and 2 back. I don't like him this much this season. He doesn't have to be so naive, but I don't like Peter as Sylar version 2.

There is so much we can learn about them and about Peter from his past. We're losing out on that.

I really miss seeing Peter interact with regular people. I didn't really care for Simone, and even though I liked Caitlin, the story of their romance was being focused on too much, but now I see how important their roles were in Peter's life. Peter needs atleast someone 'normal' in his life to keep the character balanced with reality, otherwise it gets too much about the sci-fi aspect.

They've been writing Peter kind of one note this season. I've read on other sites where some blame Milo's acting, but IMO it's the writing. When he has a scene written where Peter points his finger at Angela's head and tries to kill her while looking evil... there's only so much Milo can do with that. I feel badly that they aren't writing more to what Milo is capable of. What I loved about Peter was his heart and the writers have stripped Peter from that. So far, he has tried to kill his brother, twice, tried to kill his mom, and turned evil. It's hard to get excited about following this journey and rooting for him when they've done this to him. I'll touch more on that in the current ep discussion thread.

Oh, Kelly, I couldn't agree with you more! I feel bad for Milo that the writers have written Peter so, as you say, one note. The scenes with the two Peters in the future felt so rushed and poorly edited too. I watch and re-watch all his scenes and he is doing the best he can with the dialog and the fact that they have made him so heartless. I have hopes that the writers come to their senses and have the real Peter return.

I read that article too. It was kind of valid but then again you could criticize anything. i"m enjoying this season. Honestly I've never thought that Peter was Milo's best role. The character and the writing could be better/stronger. I'm just happy to have him on my screen every week again. Milo's an excellent actor but sometimes I think the scenes are rushed for production reasons and his acting comes across a little rough.

Peter's a Hero! Or at least tries to be.

I loved it when Knox told him that "nobody's that heroic" He doesn't know Peter then.

Right now I think Peter is just overwhelmed by Sylar's power, but hopefully will be able to fight it once things calm down for him. Angela putting him into that coma may have been the best thing for him right now.

As long as everything turns out okay, then I'm willing to go on this ride. But if the writer's screw it up, I won't be thinking too highly of these episodes. Based on certain things I've read, I am optimistic though.

I hope so too.

In the end, do you think having Sylar's power will change Peter or do you think we'll get the old Peter back again?
