Heroes Episode 1-09 - Homecoming
WILL THEY SAVE THE CHEERLEADER AND SAVE THE WORLD? THE 'HEROES' EXPERIENCE DANGEROUS AND DEFINING MOMENTS IN THEIR LIVES -- As H.R.G. Meanwhile, Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) and Simone (Tawny Cypress) work together to find Isaac's (Santiago Cabrera) painting for Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) -- but this key to the future could lead to tragedy. Elsewhere, Hiro (Masi Oka) travels back in time to right an upsetting wrong and as Niki (Ali Larter) puts a goal in sight, Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey) spends time with his dad (Leonard Roberts). Still experiencing strange dreams while in India, Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) learns of a boy that might pull him back into his father's research. Greg Grunberg also stars. Nora Zehetner ("Everwood"), Sakina Jaffery ("Third Watch") and Jayma Mays ("Entourage") guest-star. The promo can be downloaded HERE __________________

I'm so incredibly excited for this episode!! I love the promo for this... the fast shots of the 'heroes' with the beat of the music, I thought it really captured your attention!
I think this episode is going to rock! Thanks for starting the thread, Kel! __________________

WOW what an episode! The last half especially had me on the edge of my seat. I didn't want to leave during the commercials It has such a feature film quality to it that it almost threw me when a commercial came on.
It was nice seeing Milo get some action scenes. Peter's poor legs! :cringe: Milo's expressions were great when he was putting his legs/feet back into place. __________________

I agree, Kelly. Wasn't he wonderful?! I loved the part when he told Ando that he couldn't wait, that he had to save the cheerleader. So heroic without thought for his own safety. He didn't hesitate at all.

Ditto. It was a great episode for heroic Peter! From the scene in Isaac's loft with Simone to meeting Ando... and then Claire... he now has a real purpose... and that he can make a difference... Milo was fantastic... I loved the play of emotion on his face in Isaac's place when he sees the digital image of the painting and he quietly realizes that he won't likely survive this quest... it was really effective.
It was definitely a very riveting episode. I was sitting on the edge of my seat all during the show. I didn't want to get up at all during the commercials in fear I'd miss one second of the show when it'd come back on screen!! Sylar's one really freakishly scary dude. He's able to saw people's heads open with just his finger!?!!!!? Yikes. Poor Jackie. She had no chance. With last week and this week's episode... I think it's obvious Eden has some special powers of her own... power of persuasion perhaps 'cause she can get people to do what she asks of them without force... and she can also somehow counteract the powers of others... I mean Sylar became powerless in her presence... sort of like a Superman/kryptonite thing...? __________________

I loved this episode because Milo was fantastic but I need to watch it again because I need to watch other people besides him.

Hmm... interesting theory Sarah... nothing would surprise me really... I wouldn't at all be shocked to learn that Eden was the one 'controlling' Mr. Bennett all along...
I'm still curious to know why Sylar's so fascinated with brains... so much so that he's willing to kill to get to his victims' brains... Obviously there's a reason behind it... but it'll be interesting to discover how and why that ties in to our 'heroes'... since he's a powerful individual... Makes me wonder if Peter will pick up any of Sylar's abilities since he touched him and was laying so close to him when they went over the roof of the Phys. Ed. Center... how or if it will affect him in any un-Peter like way... __________ Last night's ratings: It was the show's strongest and best showing yet!! Bravo!! ** Zap2it Quote:

He just looked at him, took a breath, looked away and walked out. He wanted to be "somebody" so badly, he didn't care if it all came down to sacrificing himself, because he believed it was for something bigger and that was enough of a reason for him. A lot of people wouldn't knowingly face something like that, especially not alone. That's what I love about Peter. He didn't walk away when he saw the picture of his own death. He didn't have second thoughts when he got to Texas and Hiro wasn't there to help him. He didn't wimp out and leave when he found himself stood in the very spot where Isaac's painting predicted he'd die. He's so much stronger and braver than I think anyone in his life thinks he is or gives him credit for. Quote:

Random thoughts:
Simone's hair is different. I wonder if they did that to try and make her look younger for her scenes with Milo. It's still not working for me. It just feels too much like a Mrs. Robinson thing to me. I think I would have enjoyed them more together if they were friends, having almost a younger brother/older sister relationship because of Peter having taken care of her father. They could have still cared for each other and their well being through this without the love aspect IMO. I think she was miscast for Peter, but hopefully she'll go back to Isaac. Mangled cartoon Milo. I like how Tim Sale drew Peter's eyes with dark outlines, making them deep and intense Eden has really become a fascinating character! I agree, Shanti, she might be a twist in the plot and end up being a bigger threat. I wonder what HRG has on her that makes her take his orders, since she could easily manipulate his thoughts. Claire punching Jackie square in the face I liked the scene between Micah and his father, getting his dad to realize they should go back. Mohinder to the young boy: "You came to me in my dream last night". A good thing a cop wasn't around to hear him say that. Now that Mohinder has seen the list of heroes: Dear Mohinder... you owe Peter quite the apology now, don't ya! Quote:
Everytime I see Mr.Muggles (I think that's Claire's mom's dog's name) I expect it to do something strange, like that talking dog in Men In Black. LOL Peter to Claire- "Hey, it gets better. Life after High School." It sure has for Milo I really enjoyed his first scene with Hayden. They worked well off each other. Peter stares at the picture of the painting, then at the actual area the painting takes place, then at the clock, then ....commercial. Ahhhh! I was right into that moment. Sylar using his finger as an air-knife. I picture viewers everywhere going- so cool! Except for Darcy who is probably hiding behind a pillow The effect of Claire putting back her bones and face was well done. Sylar having the locker doors thrown at Peter. We saw that painting in Isaac's loft. I liked seeing Milo get some action scenes. Seeing Claire run up the steps like in Isaac's painting. If this were 'LOST' it would have been season 3 before we found out what that had meant It's nice this show moves along at a steady pace. Peter would have died for Claire. I really believe that. I think in his mind he had already made that choice to do it, even before he got there. Like he had accepted what he thought was his destiny. Outside, after Claire ran off towards the field, and Peter looked up and Sylar was standing RIGHT there... 8:12 When Sylar and Peter lay dead on the ground, did you notice Sylar had no blood around his body, only Peter did. Mangled Peter feet. My favorite scene: I loved how Milo played the healing scene when Claire arrived. There's a lot going on in that scene for Milo. Peter's emotions and thoughts, focussing on himself, with his shock from seeing his own mangled body and that he can heal it, and still keeping focussed on Claire and her safety, and his fear of where Sylar is and the hope that he had still accomplished what he needed to by saving her, and Milo handled his performance well by putting that all together seamlessly IMO. Peter's face, realizing at the last second to fix his foot when the police arrived Milo really carried the last half of the episode well tonight It was nice seeing him get so much screen time. __________________

Kelly or Darcy, please feel free to move this if it should be in a different thread.
There is a really interesting description of the making of Homecoming 1.09 written by Greg Beeman the director in which he states - "Milo Ventimiglia really stepped up as the hero of the show. His performance gets better and better with each episode. " The full article is Beaming Beeman __________________
