Tree day Love it. I agree though, I think it'd be awesome if everyone everywhere celebrated together. The closest we have is probably Christmas, but there are many, many people who aren't Christian, particularly outside of the US. It's kinda depressing we can't have a universal fun day or something.

I wish we could start a movement to enact a universal fun day.

I think the closest thing is New Years Day...it just happens at different times for everyone.

If only we could get everyone together to make the universal holiday on the same day. Worldwide vacation!

You mean in America? Umm fireworks, cookouts, stuff like that. It's pretty big, lots of flags around, and sales in department stores So is your birthday July 3rd?

p.s. I think our next thread title should have holidays in the title.

Well in alot of country there is a type of Independence day French have Bastille Day, Greece there is the day when they defeated the Ottoman Empire March 25 and Canada Day in Canada. In Greece there is Carnival in February were people dress up I have to email someone about the details since I haven't spend a February in Greece since I was 11. Its like Halloween without the blood and gore.

How is your national day celebrated where you are from?

Maria, carnival in February sounds like a lot of fun! What do you normally do on a Greek carnival? Brazilians have a huge parade when they celebrate their carnival. Would love to experience it once.

We celebrate the German reunification (9th November), but we don't really "celebrate" that day...I think that's pretty sad.

That sounds great. I would like to see that

I love Carnival
We also have a carneval in February. That's a big deal for us, we celebrate three days in a row.

That's sad that you don't celebrate. Carnival is mostly getting dress up going to partys like Halloween I don't know if there is a parade. I'll let you know when I get more information

Ooh, it's an important moment in history.

ETA: Actually I saw part of a documentary today about people trying to escape from eastern Germany to the western side. One family actually travelled with a hot air balloon globe to the other side. Very impressive! It's actually very courageous of them!

Oh so Carnival is like America's Halloween and Thanksgiving put together, because we have a parade for Thanksgiving, but I think that's the only time we have one.

The whole Universal Holiday reminds me of this show Phil of The Future that used to be on Disney Chanel about a family from the future that crashed into the present and they had the Holiday Unification day

Never heard of Phil of The Future, but Unification Day as a holiday sounds nice. No more segregation and all that, at least for one day!

Hey, does anyone watch True Blood (HBO's show based on some book series)? What do you think of it?

A friend of mine just lend me the first season. It's supposed to be brilliant - so he says. So I'm gonna give it a go. As long as it's not gory, should be fine. Plus, Anna Paquin is an interesting actress.
