I'm thinking of getting a dog. Any suggestions on what kind? I live in a house with a yard, so the dog could be big or small. Are male dogs better than female dogs?

I'm more of a cat person, but I enjoy Chihuahuas. Not just the Taco Bell kind. Even the black ones are really cute! Maybe those?

Had an awkward experience (as a child) with a dobermann once. Never liked scary dogs since then.

I love dogs! My parents have a chocolate lab and my sister has a toy poodle.

Male dogs are better because they won't randomly end up pregnant. I love the lab because he's so energetic and great with children. Plus he's very smart, and doesn't shed or bark too much. And he's not too big. Big dogs freak me out.

I'm sorry barelylegal. Dobermans are really scary. I get why you wouldn't like dogs now.

I have this fear of dogs I think their cute from afar but when I get close I get scared. I like Golden Retrievers like comet on Full House.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would definitely have the dog spayed or neutered, so no puppies. I've heard good things about Labs. I also like chihuahuas, but would probably look for a mix. I want to get a rescue dog too.

Fox I remember Comet! He was really sweet! By the way, I like your theory about dogs being cute from afar. Definitely true for really big dogs. Medium sized ones or small ones are nice.

LittleMissObsessive Dobermanns are so scarry! I'm glad I am not the only one feeling that way about them.
