Heroes Episode Discussion 4.06

Under Samuel's guidance, Sylar starts on a path to rediscover his true identity. Hiro helps Emma (guest star Deanne Bray) accept and understand the great possibilities that go along with having an ability. Meanwhile, Peter enlists HRG to help him find a healer who can save Hiro's life. Hayden Panettiere also stars. Mark L. Young also guest stars.

I liked some of tonight's episode and some I loathed. I really loved the Peter/HRG scenes. So glad to see that Peter is able to selectively use his ability and that he wants to do good things with it. Did everyone notice that the comic that Hiro was reading when he was in the hospital was "Beserker?" I thought that was very funny.

What I hated was the abundance of Sylar. I am so very, very tired of half of almost every episode being about Sylar,. Adrian should have been the one in conflict, not Zach. When he didn't know who he was, it should have been Adrian trying to get through, not another reason to showcase ZQ. Someone on another board posted this and I agree completely:

2) SYLAR! They really need to either kill him (preferably, like they should have in S1), or make a decision about how they want to handle the character permanently. (Or, alternately, dump everyone else and rename the show 'Sylar", like it seems they want to.)

No other character has been given the depth or screen time of Zach this (and most of the past two seasons). I am tired of it and it looks like next week we will be getting more. For me, it takes so much enjoyment away from new season.

Sorry if you're a Sylar fan, but I had to vent.

I loved the episode too. Peters/Noahs scenes were the best..I also loved Peter/Hiro scenes, they really need more. I LOL'd when Peter and Hiro were arguing about who is there for concerning the destniy thing at the begining. I also LOL'd at Peter forgetting how to teleport, silly Peter. Sylars plot was ok, I didn't realize Nathan was still within him till now. Good action scenes. Over all yah amazing episode, I hate how we have to wait a while tilll we see new Peter *Sigh* I'll look forward to Sylars plot though at least, Claires not so much. Unless its a continuation of Samuel/Claire but it doesn't look that way.

I thought the Peter scenes were great and I didn't think he would have that many as he did. But yeah I think it's nice that they are having him pick his abilities and that he's in control of them now.

I really like Emma, it's nice that they introduced a character who's just starting with powers and learning what they mean and how to use them. It's kinda cool to see Peter and Hiro advise her and be like it's not a bad thing because at one time they were both thinking that powers were a bad thing, it's nice to see how far they have come, they are now the teachers.

Enjoyed the episode a lot! Didn't notice the Berserker comic. Well spotted, Sarah!

I'm glad Heroes is getting back on track! The Carnies are fantastic! So is finding out more about Emma, her interacting with Hiro as well as Noah and Peter teaming together. However, Emma being amazed by pretty colours is fabulous initially (violin scene, piano scene, etc) but eventually the excitement wears off. So hopefully Emma will be more than amazed by colours.

I also thought Sylars plot was alright as I enjoyed his interaction with the Carnies. The scene where Edgar is jealous of him speaking with Lydia was gold! I wonder what Samuel has in store for him. Will agree though that the character is being 'overused'.

ETA:

I feel that Lydia's flirting with Sylar was well calculated. Most likely suggested by Samuel. At the end of this episode you can watch Lydia looking at Samuel with a smug on her face.

Eventually, we'll find out why

Hey I'm completely new to this forum but went googling if anyone else noticed this. I'm a bit of a comicfan myself and emidiatly noticed the comic A bit of productpromotion eh hehe Bought first 2 issues but haven't gotten to reading it yet. I might now! Promotion worked Milo!

Off to watch rest of episode now

Copying and pasting my post from the Heroes board. Also, I’m not happy about the lack of Peter next week.

Peter, Peter, Peter. How I love thee. He was awesome. I knew he wasn't going to die, but still, I was a little nervous when the bullet went through him.

I enjoyed Claire/Peter/Noah. I really like their scenes together. Every time Peter smiled or laughed I couldn't help but join in Also, I love how Noah said "My ability is to help and understand those who have abilities." It makes sense, and he's great at it. He should think of it that way instead of just being the guy with the gun.

Finally, Hiro was given some substance! I liked all of his scenes this week. Emma was pretty cool as well. I love seeing the world from her perspective, with all the pretty colors.

I guess I'm the only one who liked seeing Kristen Bell for a split second! Gabriel/Sylar/Nathan felt so bad for her. Elle should come back.

I still don't like the Carnival cult. I know I'm probably not supposed to "like" them but I'm not even that intrigued by them either.

Based on the promo's, I'm not looking forward to next week's episode at all. The Sylar/Matt sequence, if that's what it is, looked a little disturbing, and I'm not a fan of Claire/Gretchen.

Oh my! What an episode. I knew Peter would be alright, but STILL! How that scene played out had me on the edge of my seat! (Beautifully filmed too ... almost said shot there, but that didn't seem right. ) Oh, Peter, that was a close one!

As for HRG, I'm going to start calling him Noah now ... all because of Peter calling him that and the way he said "NOOO!" when Peter was shot.

Peter with Hiro in the beginning was really sweet too. Then Peter getting Emma to talk to Hiro and Hiro helping her appreciate her power, just awww.

As for Sylar's story, eh, don't really care. I'm with Shanti70 on this one.

Unfortunately, I think it's going to be a few episodes before we see Peter again. Not looking forward to next week's.

I do love the fact that they are only concentrating on few of the stories per episode. The pacing, the stories and the characterizations are so much better this season. I will miss seeing Peter in the episodes and am not looking forward to next week.

Thank God for Hiro's story this episode. I'm not sure how I feel about him going to try and save Charlie, but I did love their scenes together in season one. The more I like Emma the more I fear that she won't be around for very long. She is definitely a new character that I like.

That really depresses me What am I gonna do without Peter?

I hope Emma stays around for a bit, but I'm skeptical as well. Last time I loved a guest star Sylar killed her. (Kristen Bell )

This time I think Emma will stay around a bit longer, fans seem to like her and her relationship with Peter. The only reason Elle had to leave was cuz Kristen had more jobes, that didn't mean they had to kill her though. The way they hanndled characters in Volume 2 was pretty bad, Adam and Elle were great but got killed horribly. And yah it will be killing me to go without Peter as well. I assume they'll make up for it though.
