Episode 3.24: 'I Am Sylar'

Episode description: SYLAR’S NEW ABILITY BEGINS TO TAKE ITS TOLL ON HIM – EMMY AWARD-WINNER ZELJKO IVANEK GUEST STARS – Sylar (Zachary Quinto) continues his unusual partnership and begins to have an unexpected identity crisis. Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) take measures toward bringing down Building 26. Meanwhile, Matt’s (Greg Grunberg) new found fatherhood changes his priorities. Elsewhere, Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) sets a plan in motion to right the wrongs of his government operation. Jack Coleman, Hayden Panettiere, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Cristine Rose and Milo Ventimiglia also star. Noah Gray-Cabey, Lisa Lackey and Ellen Greene also guest star.

I don't think we'll see a Sylar/Peter showdown this season.

im gonna repeat my rant i did on the heroes pete thead cos Im SOOOO mad about this eppi!!!

We saw pete for what one minute if even that!!! UGHHH!!! And i was lukin foreward to the sylar/peter battle and NOW i have to wait a whole WEEK!!!!UGHHH!!! Pete is one of if not the main character in this series,why is he being pushed to the sidelines???UGHH!! And the writers better not even think about killing any of the petrellis next eppi!! UGHH!!

I really like that the writers are concentrating on only a few characters at a time, but this episode was not that effective in character development, IMO. What took Ando and Hiro 20 minutes of screen time could have been done in 5. I'm so over the Sylar "poor me" story. Don't get me wrong, I think Zach did an amazing job, acting-wise, but he is the only character that has gotten this much depth in character development and I hate that. Just think about what each of the individual Petrellis have been through and they hardly get any screen time. I know that Sylar is the big baddie and everyone else is on the good side, but I am not happy with the imbalance of character development.

Why or why has Matt so quickly forgotten Daphne? He seems eager to get back with Janice. I know his son has much to do with that, but WTH.

LOL Yah why is he suddnly so intrested in Janice, poor Daph tossed a side so fast it was like she was just a fling or some thing. And yes I am annoyed with the lack of screen time for Peter, I thought the fight was supposed to be tonight but nooo now we have to wait a whole nother week, it better be worth is all I can say. And Kring you better make up for Peters lack of screen time next Volume or I'll pinch a fit. I will tell you some thing I did like about the episode though, I did like Sylars/Nathans interaction towards the end, finally they have some interaction LOL.

I was falling asleep until the last ten minutes, I agree the lack of Peter is getting annoying, they are giving Sylar way too much time and I don't get the point do the writers not know how to write for the other characters? Agree with everything else about Matt, Hiro and Ando.

Hopefully the season will end on a high note.

Sylar whining about losing himself? Sylar getting teary eyed about having an identity crisis and feeling lost? Are they joking? I enjoy Zach's performance (I thought he was great with what he was given) but writing Sylar this way is nothing but insulting.

I too wonder why TPTB spend so much time developing Sylar's character and so little time on other, more important central characters, like Peter and Nathan. Very frustrating. I really hope Tim Kring leaves this show next season because he clearly has no idea what he's doing with it now. I would love Bryan Fuller to take complete control since he is the one who seems to 'get' the characters.

Oh Kelly, I couldn't agree with you more! TK may be a nice guy, but he is not a good show runner.

Of course not enough Peter in it and I agree that I would love to see such development in the relationsship between Peter and Nathan and in each of them separately but I must admit that

I love all the Sylar stuff in this episode.
His craziness and his scares and worries that he will not become himself anymore. For Sylar it was always important to be someone and it kills him when he is a nobody. So I can understand him why he has problems with living as the Agent (forgot the name). And he always beg for love in all three seasons. And when he don´t get it or feels betrayed by his loveone - he can´t stop himself anymore and kills this person. It happens with his mother, who saw the monster in him and it happens with Elle, when he discovered her true motivation at least at the beginning.
And Zachary did a hell of a great job to portray his innerstruggle. I can´t help but feel sorry for the guy.

The Hiro and Ando stuff got on my nerves as always in the last two seasons.

I like Janice and I like Matt bonding with her again. Daphne was my only true hate character so I don´t have problems with that

I have not one ounce of sympathy for a man who kills without remorse regardless of his "mommy issues." Besides, they didn't have to do this story again as they had covered all of that the first season.

The problem too is that Sylar's issues are self serving. He has no morality for anyone but himself, and the show is catering to this character as the main, most developed character. Something is very wrong with that. I do enjoy Sylar, but not as the lead. It makes the show itself feel empty. It needs to have someone like Peter, a character we can root for and relate to, stand out more. Its like having Darth Vader as the lead in Star Wars where he whines about his feelings and Luke and Leia are sidelined to it.

Did Fuller write the finale next week?
