Banner by the talented Michelle Welcome to Milo's 'Chris Pierce' Appreciation Thread #7 Thread #6 can be found here The part of Chris Pierce is one full of complexities and mystery. Milo's portrayal has made an impact on many fans, old and new, because of the way he plays the role, with his usual passion, emotion and charm. "Chris is 18-19 years old. He moved to Phildelphia with his single mom, Shelly, next door to the Pryors. He attends East Catholic High School, which has gone co-ed, and where he quickly makes an "impression" on Meg. At first, Chris has no real purpose, seems disinterested and lazy. However, when he becomes involved in the school play of Shakespeare's Henry V done with a modern twist, and with Meg's influence, he finds a cause to believe in, a purpose in life- protesting the Vietnam war, a war that Meg's older brother JJ is fighting. Chris and Meg were attracted to each other and with their common goal and shared passion, they quickly fell in love. Chris's relationship with Meg is a source of conflict for her family, especially her father, who doesn't agree nor condones their actions. Chris quickly becomes a leader in the anti-war movement and his views, over time, undergo a radical change, literally. Chris doesn't feel that peaceful protest is enough to make people take notice and change their points of view, so he becomes involved with radical and violent protesters. He simply sees no other option." Chris was written solely and specifically for Milo. He has some creative input on how the role is to be portrayed. Furthermore, it's a role that is very close and dear to his heart, because of his own parents. His father did two tours in Vietnam and his mother was protesting the war at home. His pride in who and what his parents are comes through in his portrayal of Chris. They are never far from his thoughts whenever he does his scenes. It makes for a very intense, real, honest and true portrayal. Everything that Milo is. Facts: Milo has worked with Will Estes before as a guest star in Will's 1998 TV series Kelly, Kelly The Final Two Episodes: Since the final two episodes aren't going to be made (now that the series is cancelled), here were the Spoilers from Milo's spoiler thread of what we knew about the last two episodes of American Dreams: Episode 18 - 'Don't Look Back' Page 10 - Shelly and Helen are talking about Chris. Shelly is upset that Helen went behind her back to help Chris run away. Shelly feels that as Chris's mother she had the right to know. On a dirt road in Ohio...Chris and Meg have pulled off the side of the road. Chris picks an apple off of a tree and throws it at Meg for her to catch, but she misses. Meg looks pretty despite the fact that she's dusty and dirty. Page 17 - Both Chris and Meg are picking apples. Meg suggests that they go somewhere (not indicated in script), but Chris balks at the idea. Meg states that they're already trespassing and they can't be charged with the same crime twice. Chris is impressed with Meg's idea and he agrees to do it when Meg asks if he's scared. Me: It's not clear where they are in this scene. It seems like they're on someone's property and Meg wants to go inside the house or further onto the property. I'm not sure. Page 18- Meg and Chris are having fun together in various ways. Suddenly they find they're not alone and they have to run and hide. This scene is intercut with the Bandstand performance. C/M find a safe place to hide and they snuggle together for safety. Page 38 - Outside of a Bar & Grill...Chris is upset that the place is closed. Meg tries to calm him. Chris states that everything is not okay because their money is gone and so is his bike and all of their stuff. No indication as to what happened to the bike/money/stuff. Page 47 - Location: Bar (I'm not sure if it's the same one) Chris and Meg approach Louise Wilson, a woman around 40. At first, Louise doesn't recognize Chris. Then she says that he is Charlie's kid. She remembers that Chris's mom sent him there to starighten him out. Chris replies that that didn't work out too well. Chris introduces Louise to Meg. Chris asks Louise if his dad (Charlie) still works there, but Louise says no. C/M exchange worried looks. Louise then states that Charlie should be there later to watch the game. In the meantime, Louise tells C/M that they can take showers and freshen up, and they readily agree. Page 50 - In the bar, Meg is eating a sandwich. She also has some chips and a soda. Meg thanks Louise for the food and says that the sandwich is the best she's ever eaten. Chris comes down after showering too. Louise says that his father called. Louise says that Charlie is looking forward to seeing Chris. Meg can tell that this news upsets Chris. Page 60 - C/M are preparing to leave. Louise gives them some blankets and some money. Chris asks why she is giving them money and Louise replies that is the reason Chris wanted to see his dad, right? Louise asks if Chris wants her to say anything special to Charlie but Chris says no. Meg/Louise hug and then C/M leave. (I guess they're walking) Some FBI agents visit the Pryors concerning Helen's role in helping draftees escape. Also, Roxanne is missing Meg. The Bandstand dancers gossip about where Meg's whereabouts. General Future Episode Information

It was a year ago today that Milo started filming AD.
If AD had continued and Milo had continued to portray Chris, what do you think they would have done with his character in season 4? __________________

Wow!! A year already... !! How time goes by...
Well, it's safe to say that he would have continued to be involved in the anti-war movement, have had to be careful with the authorities since he's a draft dodger... I think it would have put a strain on his relationship with Meg, and I see his presence and influence on Meg causing even more conflict within the Pryor family, although Meg would have to share part of the blame in that as well... __________________

I think Meg would of gone home but Chris would not of followed. He might of tried but Meg cares too much about him for him to follow her back and get caught.
I can't believe it's been a year!! |

Do you think JJ would have ever come to understand Chris' views... even agree with some of them?

I dont think so. I mean JJ actually was in it. He knows what it's like. Chris doesn't.

You have a point, Ashley. But I think on some level, despite his patriotic duty and belief that this war was for a good and just cause, he would have come to understand Chris' viewpoint... He saw and witnessed some terrible things while fighting in Vietnam, and not always because of the enemy... some of the military decisions were questionable at best... sending their people on what they can call suicide missions, and innocent people (the ones they were trying to protect in the first place) getting caught in the crossfire... would have hopefully made him realize that Chris and the anti-war protesters also have merit and are standing up for what they believe in, and what they feel is right, and are basically fighting a good and just war of their own...
And hopefully, Chris knowing the sacrifices JJ made, having done his duty, would have made him respect and support the decision he made in going to fight, he would have understood JJ's side of things a little better... __________________
