Rory never felt like a follower to me when she was in high-school - the Puffs episode showed that. Perhaps having her mother always in her corner helped that.

I think it was like she didn't need a lot of friends because she had Lorelai, but then when she was on her own and left to find her own crowd, she didn't know what to do. She fell in with the wrong crowd.

I would have been nice to more of Jess and his life, his repaired relationship with his mom, his friends, his work.

Maybe Jess having the harder childhood prepared him for the real world - Rory was perhaps coddled too much by everyone in her life.

Rory was definitely sheltered growing up and she was adored by mostly everyone in Stars Hollow

Jess on the other hand was dealt a bad hand from the very beginning of his childhood

Mmm Rory never really had friends her own age aside from Lane until she started at Chilton but she's an introvert

I think one of the things that doesn't really get talked about much is her loneliness during the Yale years
