I've got all my friends so psyched up about this. What expectations does everyone have apart from the fact that Johnny is going to be super sexy as usual

I try not to go into JD movies with expectations. It's weird, because I've never thought about it before so I never realized that I didn't. But he always surprises you, and it's easier for me to enjoy those surprises if I go in tabla rasa. I mean, what can you expect of the guy besides a stellar performance and stunning good looks? He's nothing if not consistent.

Wow. That's something. I don't think that applies to me regarding JD movies as I, quite honestly, put him on a bit of pedestal and always expect something great from him and his films. Of course, JD always delivers but sometimes I find that some of his films are slightly sub par compared to what I expect him to be doing.

With this film, I'm not expecting too much. Although I am looking forward to it, it looks just slightly typical. But, I guess I won't know until I see it for myself. I am looking forward to it as it seems interesting and you know, Johnny's in it.

Hm, let me qualify that statement. I don't expect too much of his movies because, frankly, some have been pretty bad. And I try not to have a preconceived notion of how he's going to play a role or character, because he inevitably throws those expectations for a loop. But I do expect him to surprise me, pleasantly, with his performance because he always does. It's not that I don't have expectations because they're low, but more that I really don't let myself think about it. Or something.

This is hard to explain. But I do have him on a similar pedestal. Just not his movies, I guess.

Thats brilliant Devi! Because sometimes I can be biased with some films, but I try not to be biased with Johnny's films as I want to go in, watch the film and determine whether I like it from a number of factors, especially being a Film Studies Student, which helped a great deal.

I do think he is an amazing actor, but Like Devi said, some of the have not been exactly wonderful, the films that is - I do think that he tries very hard, he plays
his characters very well, but unfortuantely the films can be pants! For example, he was very good as his character in 'The Brave' , but I didn't like the film very much at all, he did direct it, but I'm not going to be biased about it and say that it was amazing. I'm not going to let all my Film Studies lessons go to waste! lol! And besides, it kinda runs it the family - the love of films, actually, its more of an addiction lol

BUt with Secret Window, I am naturally intrigued, because Johnny is my fave actor (and yummy too! ), so I will go and see it, to be honest I don't know a lot about it, only what has been posted here (Thanks Devi and everyone for those articles, and to Devi for starting this thread!). So lets and and see it and then we will go from there

I see. Well, that's the same thing with me. I expect something from Johnny but with his movies not so much. Like with Secret Window, for example, although I am looking forward to it and though I want to see it, I'm not expecting much from it.

I was getting worried there, like, we don't agree on something!? What the? But all is right with the world again.

And Kirsty, it's my pleasure! I'm glad I make sense. Whenever I try to define or qualify anything related to this dude, I tend to just ramble on until I feel that I've expressed it all. And then, I read back on it and am astounded that I considered it legible.

"But the big draw, of course, is Depp. Watching him putter around his shack, talk to the dog and scratch the three hairs on his chin is more thrilling than anything Stephen King has written recently."

That's from a critic on Secret Window

Yes, I'm back!

I am waiting as patiently as I can which isn't really working out as I'm a very impatient person.

I'm going to see this on Saturday - yes, I know, the day AFTER it comes out, but alas, circumstances are only allowing me to see it the day after it arrives in theatres - sigh. That's a shame, isn't it?

Once again, looking very much forewards to this movie. Not only is it Stephen King (Yeah!), It's Johnny Depp! (YEAH!) Double cool!

I hope to go see it either tonight or next week, no matter how the critics like it or not.
