| Loyal Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() | Welll first I want to say Melika your icon is perfect and so cool. ![]() Now onto my thoughts: I didn't re-watch this movie either. The reason is this is probably one of my least favorite movies of his. And it all has to do with the ending. The movie was shot well, I loved the cast, and it was all good up until the great reveal. Then it was ew, you had to kill that many people... I don't know how I would change the ending. I think based on what we saw there was no other choice to take, but I just didn't like it. However, for not liking the ending it was a good movie. :lol; I'm all over the place, but that ending was jarring for me and I just have never recovered on this movie from it. __________________ ~Kelli~ Restored Sunshine| IconCredit: Me | |||

| I love your icon too Melika! Very fitting and hot! My thoughts: Did you re-watch the movie in order to share your comments and opinions or are you posting your comments and opinions from what you remember of the movie? I did re-watch, even though I had seen it not that long ago, but it's the sort of movie with a lot of little subtleties, so I wanted to make sure I didn't overlook anything. What was the best scene in the movie and why? This is hard, as I liked quite a few scenes, but I'll go with the one where Mort finally started "seeing" the voice in his head. Having 2 Johnny's in one scene is never a bad thing. And, their conversation was really interesting, watching the truth unfold. What did you think of the cast? I really liked the cast, especially Tim Hutton and John Turturo and even Charles Dutton, though his part was small. Did you like the way the movie was filmed? I loved the way this movie was filmed, it's really one of its highlights. The way the camera goes in and out of the window at the beginning and the end. The way it goes in and out of the mirror, showing Mort's reality and then the true reality. And one of my favorite shots, that even the director commented on, was when Johnny was sitting on the couch, talking on the phone, with his feet up on the coffee table. The camera panned around him and he shifted his body with it, uncrossing and the recrossing his feet as both he and the camera moved. It's a little thing, but the sign of a great actor who knows where the camera is and how to work with it. What one thing would you change about the movie and why? The ending where you see Mort with braces and a weight set in the living room, kind of a "new" man, now that he's gotten rid of his problem. I get that there was supposed to be a transformation of sorts, but I just felt it was too subtle and should have been more pronounced. I'm not sure how I would have done it, but maybe they could have spiffed him up a bit, he looked more nerdy than when he started. (Is it weird that I thought he looked hotter when he was crazy? )Anything else to add: I understand Kelli's feeling about why he had to kill so many people. I get wanting to kill his wife and even her lover, but I thought killing Dutton's character, who he brought into it, and Tom Greenleaf, just an old guy from town, seemed a bit too much. But, I guess we needed to see just how far gone he was. On a side note, after watching Johnny eat them last night, I now have a massive craving for Doritos. ![]() You'll have to dissect further to find what it is you don't like about it! Quote:
Also because Greenleaf was a 'witness' to his conversation with Turturro's character, so it was as though he was killing those who knew 'his truth', even before he did. I will be watching this tonight after Criminal Minds at 9pm! Thanks for your reviews! I love hearing in depth insight into roles and what not. _______________________________________________________________________ Hey girls, the stuff before this was posted last night, and wasn't showing so I had to delete my post and repost. It's now working, so on to my review: Did you re-watch the movie in order to share your comments and opinions or are you posting your comments and opinions from what you remember of the movie? I did re-watch the movie. What was the best scene in the movie and why? The best scene for me is the ending. I just loved how smiley and cocky he was when eating his corn, then the sheriff stops in to tell him to keep away from town and he acts like it's nothing. Then the camera pans to the corn growth, implying that's where the bodies are buried. I just loved that ending! What did you think of the cast? I enjoyed all of the cast, well 95% of them. I wasn't too fond of Charles S. Dutton in his role, even though it was small. I feel that someone like Morgan Freeman could have left a more lasting impression with the small role. Did you like the way the movie was filmed? I agree with a lot of Harley's comments on the way the movie was filmed. The best scene where this is shown is when Mort discovers he is John Shooter and the camera pans from Mort to the other image of Mort talking to him as Shooter. It seems like it was a complicated scene but it was filmed just right. What one thing would you change about the movie and why? Other than my mention of Morgan Freeman over Charles S. Dutton for the small role that it was. I think that Ted should NOT have shown up at Mort and Amy's meeting regarding their assets from their burnt down home. Amy should have had more respect for Mort to know that Ted is not welcome to information that is about Amy and Morts belongings, nothing to do with Ted! But with saying that, I think Mort's little 'blow up' at Ted again was necessary to show police and witnesses of his anger in the situation, which eventually leads to him as the suspect for the murders. Anything else to add: I mentioned above that my favourite scene was the ending where the camera pans to the corn growth, implying that's where the bodies are buried. But on the DVD, the alternate ending is better as it doesn't stop at the corn, the camera goes lower to confirm the bodies are there. I love that ending more! I didn't rewatch it, but with all this talk I may have to ![]() What was the best scene in the movie and why? I think my favorite was the scene where he realizes the Shooter is a character that he created in his head. Johnny did such a wonderful job with the concept of a man with this sort of split personality. ![]() What did you think of the cast? I loved the cast for the most part, Johnny and John T. were my main focus for most of the movie and I think they both portrayed their characters fantastically. ![]() My favorite quote ![]() "What do you think it means, you ignorant hick? | I watched this movie only once. I vaguely remember it. I think my sister has the movie so I’ll borrow it and give it a quick watch and I'll try to give my opinion on the movie soon afterward. __________________ "...be brave and want me back." Naomi ♥ Emily Jas| icon: quietlyobsessed | |||
