Hey everyone! I'm sort of new on the Johnny Depp board, but I just wanted to say that Shantaram is a really amazing novel. I think if anyone was going to pull it off it would be Johnny Depp. Let's just hope he can do a reasonable Australian accent

I have never even heard of this novel. So I feel kind of stupid right now...

Depp would play the novel's narrator, a young Australian man who escapes from a prison Down Under and goes on to build a new life for himself in the slums of India before going to fight with insurgents in their struggle against the Russians in Afghanistan.

Do you guys have more information about this story?

No don't feel stupid, because I'm from Australia and I'm not sure whether it has been released overseas. It basically covers about 10 years of Gregory David Roberts' life. He managed to flee Australia after escaping from a maximum-security prison and eventually ended up in Bombay where he offered medical assistance to people in poverty. This is only a part of the novel he also fought in Afghanistan and worked in the Bollywood film industry. I'm only really scratching the surface, but I don't want to give too much away, it is an extraordinary story. Hope this helps!

Sorry, it's just that Wuthering Heights is one of my all time favorite books! That would be completely amazing I really hope that's true because now I'm really excited!

Yay That's so exciting! Although I'm not sure what I think of Angelina being in it since I don't really like her and I thought Cathy was supposed to be blonde (maybe that's just me), it would still be totally amazing!

It's just too bad that there aren't any coming out in 08. I wish they could get finished sooner! I'm an impatient person.
