Oh yeah this movie is amazing! I'm such a wuss when it comes to scary movies, but before seeing it I was like 'oh well it's Johnny, no waaaayyy am I going to be scared of Johnny!' but he managed to get me creeped out anyway (in a very sexy way though ) so that once again proves what an amazing actor he is!
Not a lot of people were huge fans of the blond hair, but I liked it oh and the title? So true! __________________

ohnotheydidnt: 20 Most Attractive Movie Couples
5. JOHNNY DEPP & CHARLIZE THERON in The Astronaut’s Wife Yeah, so I’ve never really heard of this movie either. But who cares? Johnny Depp. Charlize Theron. Together. Count me in. We’ll even ignore that they seem to have the same haircut in this 1999 sci-fi thriller. We’ll also ignore that we’re including something out of a sci-fi thriller on a list talking about sexiness. This is an example of two separately sexy people making it work together. Unlike, say, Natalie Portman and Hayden Christiensen in the Star Wars prequels (did I really just reference another sci-fi movie?), Johnny and Charlize have enough individual moxie to overcompensate any potential lack of chemistry. They’re the opposite of Portman and Christienson, who are pretty hot on their own, but were super blah together. Johnny and Charlize are so hot on their own that when they share the screen, your head might actually explode. Maybe that was the reason why the movie bombed: people don’t want their heads to explode, so they didn’t buy tickets to the movie. Regardless, The Astronaut’s Wife will only remain in our memories because it helped make two hotties become one. Sasha __________________

I'm not a huge Charlize Theron fan, but they definitely make a very attractive couple

Yeah they do, but it doesn't really matter which woman stands beside him... even alone he would make a pretty couple.

ok, you have a point there but on the other hand, a woman would have to be extra beautiful to even get noticed when she stands beside him

This is one of my favorite Johnny movies simply because he plays such a bad dude after he returns from space.
I also really loved the chemistry with Charlize Theron, who is one of my favorite actresses! This is a rare movie for Johnny where he looks like a typical male, there's no outrageous get up for him to disguise himself. |

A very good film. Made in such a clever way that spectators don't reelly know is it Spencer Armacost who is crazy or his wife is imagining things about him encouraged by some very unconvicning proofs that he had some sort of extraterrestrial contact.

Well said smilja!
Welcome to the thread! That is a great description of how the movie plays out, because you really don't know until almost the end. |

Hello All.
We're trying a new activity here on the Johnny board, simply called "Movie of the Week". Each week, probably each Sunday, I will top a movie thread of Johnny's with questions, in order to get more discussion going. I have edited the opening post, so you can go there to see the new addition. But for convenience I have reposted it below. Quote:

This is so cool Melika! I hadn't thought of the Astronaut's Wife in some time.
I haven't re-watched it. It would take an act of Netflix for me to do it and I still hve the same three movies I had a month ago. However, the scene that has stuck with me all of these years is the bathroom scene where the water is everywhere and she is going to electricute either herself or her family. I know that's morbid, but that was the scene that always stuck with me the most. Probably because it reminded me of Fallen where the voice over at the end says, "Like I said, this is the story of how I almost died." Creepy and well shot. __________________

What one thing would you change about the movie and why? Johnny's hair. I don't see why it had to be blond.
Did you re-watch the movie in order to share your comments and opinions or are you posting your comments and opinions from what you remember of the movie? I only saw the movie for the first time about 5/6 weeks ago. I personal wouldn't have go to the cinema to see this, I not my type of movie, the only reason i was watching it was for Johnny. I enjoyed it and would watch it again at a later time and date. __________________
