Wow, it's so hard to pick just one episode from each season, but after much consideration, here's what I came up with.

Season 1: The 2 part Pilot. All the characters were introduced and you got a feel for what the show was gonna be about and it was such an interesting and exciting idea. Johnny looked so young, it was crazy.

Season 2 : A Big Disease With A Little Name. In retrospect, this episode may look and feel dated, given what we now know and all the coverage AIDS has gotten over the years, but back then, this was really the first time the issue had been explored for teens and it was so heartfelt and touching, Johnny was especially great in it.

Season 3 : Swallowed Alive. I found this episode so powerful and just riveting. Johnny was "The Hammer", locked up and all alone, the emotions he went through were amazing.

Season 4 : Draw The Line. Booker works to free Hanson from prison and the scene were he's released and Penhall is waiting for him is one of my all time favorites of the series. Much of what Hanson goes through for the rest of the season is driven by the time he spent in prison, which is also very emotional.

And I'm just gonna skip Season 5, since Johnny left after Season 4, and I didn't bother buying that dvd set. Though I have to say, I was really pissed that they stuck "Blackout", which was technically Hanson's last episode, which originally aired at the end of Season 4 on the Season 5 dvd set just to get folks to buy it. Cheap marketing trick. And after changing most of the music, which sucked because music really connects time and place, and editing some of the episodes, which is just pointless, I refuse to give Anchor Bay anymore of my hard earned money. Much as I would love to have that last episode, it's not worth it.

Great episode choices Harley!

I still can't choose, I'm debating over like two episodes in each season.

He was the idol during that time and we all loved his presence. hard to believe he is the same famous person now. Really stayed up to watch the show.

I think a big part of his longevity is the fact that he's so grounded and down to earth and has really tried to stay away from the fame side of Hollywood.

This show was always fun, they had serious cases at times that dealt with issues at the time, but putting Johnny's face on it made you pay attention more!

Welcome sammybaker!

What is refreshing about Johnny is that he doesn't play the Hollywood game. He seems very down to earth!

Looking at those dates...it's so crazy to see that the show began 22 years ago when I was all but 4 years old , and look at the resume Johnny has built up since then...it's great!

Great episode choices! I need to refresh to come up with my list which I will post soon.

ITA with you harleyq I liked "A Big Disease With A Little Name". I don't think AIDS was talked about that much yet, so it was a little before it's time, which made it a bit before it's time, and may have got some teens attention. I could be wrong though since I don't remember!

^^ I remember coming home from school at that time and seeing a lot of 'after school specials' about drugs, violence, AIDS, and stars from shows like Jump Street would present the clips etc...

There is no such thing as an 'after school special' these days, and I think there needs to be.

I remember those with other shows, but you are right, those do not exist anymore. There needs to be. The shows for kids these days are not good quality.

Plus, things that are rated G these days don't seem G, more like PG to PG-13.

That is so true! The ratings sometimes seem very off!

I notice a strange difference in some US ratings compared to Canadian though.

I've watched shows in Canada that have an R rating, and it's because of some nudity.

But nudity ratings I've seen from the states, get the HBO X rating.

My point is, I've seen American shows that seem to promote the violent shows more and give them lower ratings, where as nudity, which is a natural thing, gets the high rating.

It's almost like they're saying, they prefer violence over nudity. Which is odd to me.

I never thought that Jump Street was an R-Rated show, TV gets away with a lot of things nowadays that weren't even heard of then you know.

That is so true! It's amazing how much they get away with now, especially HBO shows. And even network tv really pushes the envelope sometimes. I swear, sometimes they go further than movies do. It's been kind of strange to watch that progression of explicitness. Sometimes, I really do miss the innocence and wholesomeness of great old tv shows like Leave It To Beaver and Father Knows Best.

It is true that TV has pushed it, but I believe that it is natural for that to happen. My problem is not them doing that, but we allowing them to get away with it. It just boggles my mind.

As to your point Melika I agree that the violence seems to get way more acceptance than nudity, but that, in my world travels, is strictly a US thing. I can't explain why, but for many the violence is prefered to nudity. We just don't do nudity here. I think it goes back to Puritan times. Some left over feelings from that.

And I would've never thought 21 Jumpstreet as R. That is beyond ridiculous. Who knows though if they set it to R it might make more people watch it.

I've been watching the series lately, what a great show and original/creative premise. I admit, I don't think I'll be able to watch season 5 because Johnny isn't in it, even though I still like the show itself. The first season DVD boxset is on my Christmas list

I liked Tom with Judy together, too bad they never made them officially a couple. I really don't see what would be the point of pairing him off with random girls who show up for one episode.
