Welcome to the First The Scotts Apprecation Thread
A thread dedicated to the amazing and strong relationships Lucas Scott has with his mother Karen, his father Dan, his late uncle Keith, his stepmother Deb, & his former basketball coach and mentor, Coach Whitey Durham.

Lucas & Karen; The mother and the son. Karen is Lucas' rock. After finding out she was pregnant while still in high school and unmarried and after her boyfriend, Dan, abanoned her, she did not give up Lucas. She raised Lucas all by herself, with the help of his Uncle Keith, and she gave him the best she had. Karen taught Lucas the value of a good book, let him follow his basketball dreams, and supported him in his choices. Karen and Lucas are the perfect example of a loving mother and son duo.

Lucas & Dan; this father/son dynamic is not always loving. Lucas had a lot of anger growing up towards his father for leaving his mother to take care of him years before. Dan thought lowly of Lucas and never talked about him to others, not even his own son Nathan. The own thought of bringing Dan down helped Lucas join the Ravens basketball team. Lucas' hatred for his father exploded when he pointed a gun to Dan, threatening his life over the life Dan so greedily took from him, his Uncle Keith. Even though these two never seem to get along, we love watching them bicker.

Lucas & Keith; Lucas never had a real father. Keith never had a biologicial son. But Keith raised Lucas like he was his own. Keith helped Lucas get past some of the greatest decisions in his young life, while Lucas made Keith a stronger and better man. These two shared laughs, tears, joys, and love. Lucas was forever changed the day his uncle died. But, while in a coma after a crash, he was able to have a chance to reconnect with Keith for one last time. While even though Keith's body is forever gone, he left Lucas a little sister, Lily, his strength and compassion, his love for Lucas, and the tools for Lucas to become a great uncle to his own nephew, James.

Lucas & Deb; Lucas and Deb are an unique combination. She is the wife of his father that abandoned and ignored him and he is the son of her husband's former love. But they mix so well together. Lucas and Deb have had a lot of great moments together, from Deb running in on Lucas in an awkward situation to Deb running Karen's Cafe while his mom was in Europe. Lucas and Deb have a great relationship, even though the circumstances surrounding them seemed less than favorable.

Lucas & Whitey; So he isn't really a Scott by name, but Whitey has been there for not just Lucas, but his parents and uncle too! Whitey wasn't just Lucas' basketball coach, but he was also a great mentor. Whitey gave Lucas the chance to prove himself on and off the court and Lucas always came to him whenever he had a problem. Whitey was always there to give Lucas insight on his love life and helped him become an amazing coach. Whitey has now passed the tourch and it is Lucas' turn to become an amazing leader and mentor, just like Whitey had been for him.

Okay we have a new thread on the Chad board!!

One day I was looking at the threads and I was surprised to see that we have never had a Lucas/Dan thread or a Lucas/Karen thread, etc. So instead of starting a thread for every single one of those ships, the mods were gracious and allowed me to open a thread for all the Scotts+Whitey.

You might be wondering why Haley, Nathan, and Jamie are not mentioned in this thread. Well that is because they all have their own threads so I felt there was no need to give them a second thread So this thread is mainly for discussion of Lucas with the older Tree Hill residents, hah.

Thank you so much to Weronika who made the banners so quickly, I really appreciate it!

And if you have any other ideas for the opening, like any icons or arts you have made, I will be glad to put them in the opening.

I wish Whitey would still be on the show in some way. or Karen. I feel like Lucas has no guide right now. He used to have keith and karen and whitey all together for a period, and now he is alone.

The adults have totally dissapeared, I'm missing their points of view and their storylines a bit Lucas is lost, and needs Karen to help him find his way..

I was looking forward to see Lucas with Karen after everything happened in the end of season 4, with Lucas even aiming a gun at dan to protect her. But Karen is on a neverending trip

at least we got to see some Lucas/Whitey in 5.05. I loved them in that episode. It was great to see Whitey trusting Lucas to be able to take the team to the victory. And I loved to see Whitey giving him advice and trying to make him understand that there are more important things in life that basketball. Whitey has always been such a guide to Lucas.

I feel like we are missing something.. There are so many unsolved issues in the Dan/Karen/Lucas storyline... It's like it just happened, and then that was it.. THE END

I am glad you both like the thread, and you are right Marie, we should of started the thread a few seasons ago. But better late than never!!

even though the adults are not on the show anymore, I use to watch the past seasons so often that you can count on me to keep this thread alive

the relationships Lucas has with these adults are definitely among my favorite. Lucas/Dan is a staple on the show and I'd say my fave interaction after LH, because Dan is the person that affects Lucas more than anybody else. A lot of what Lucas is now is due to what Dan did to him in the past

that's the negative side of the time jump. It would have been interesting to see Lucas and Karen dealing with the aftermath of the revelation about Dan. I also would have liked to see Lucas and Karen kinda rebuild their relationship after the misunderstandings they had when Karen didn't believe Lucas

did you see Dan in the last episode? because I felt like he was there. He was in Lucas insecurities. He's like a ghost. I really feel like Dan is still haunting Lucas. The fact Dan abandoned him and let him down even when Lucas decided to give him a chance, those things are still affecting Lucas and his self estime
