What kind of roles would you like to see Adam in?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, especially after the speculation on the Mr. and Mrs. Smith thread. Do you want him to keep on playing the funny guy, or to try something different?

Personally, I want to see Adam in a serious role. I think he could do really well if he got something more substantial to work with. He is very good at playing the adorkable funny guy, but if he branched out from that, he'd gain a lot of respect and attention and have a much better chance at a long-term career.

Plus, we'd get angsty Adam.

Great topic Sarah

I totally agree with you wanting to see Adam in a serious role. Like we have been speculating on the Mr. and Mrs. Smith thread. I hope that he plays a serious role for the film.

It would be great for Adam to show his acting ability that he can do more than just be funny. Like Sarah mentioned it would allow Adam to branch out in different roles because when you always play the funny guy they start catagorizing the actor in just comedy roles. So, I really hope we get to see Adam in different roles in the future

Something that I would also love for him to play is a bad guy. In like some sort of drama or something almost like in a thriller film.

I also enjoy a lot Adam in a funny character right now, but I would love to see him in a serious role, we all know he can act, so IŽd love for everyone else to see it, so they would notice that he can play more than the adorable dork

I'd love to see Adam as a bad guy! I never saw his guest spot on Smallville, but I'm assuming that's the closest he's gotten to playing a villain.

Yeah, in Smallville he was a litlle crazy, and the villain of the episode, but he was that kind of villain that you end up feeling sorry for. He wasn't really evil evil, just a guy who had a lot of bad luck and ended up doing the wrong thing.

But I agree. I'm curious to see Adam playing a total jerk. A guy that everyone would hate. Either that, or a character in a real "feel bad" movie, like Requiem for a Dream. Okay, it doesn't need to be as depressing as Requiem, but it has to be dark and angsty. Something that would change the way we see him, you know? And of course, it would have to be a grown up movie, and he wouldn't be playing a High School boy.

Sadly it is really difficult for young actors to be given that kind of oportunity... but hopefully with the fame he is gaining now it will be easier for him to get serious roles

I just wrote a script that I think Adam would be great for. I do not want to get into details after all, this is a public forum and someone might steal my idea. However, I will say this much - it is guaranteed to make Tommy and Pamela's award winning movie look third-rate. And no, you can't attend the private screening

on a more serious note, I'll like to see him in something different. His roles on the OC and on Gilmore girls are alike, I think he is in danger of getting typecst but baby steps, no pyscho killers just yet. I mean, I haven't seen The Butterfly effect but Ashton in that roll doesn't make sense to me.

I think that sometimes during their careers actors do have to take chances, and risks. It's hard to get the opportunties, but if get them, then they should go for it. I haven't seen The Butterfly Effect either, but though I don't like Kutcher, I think that he wanted to prove that he can do more than the dumb guy. Maybe he failed, but at least he tried.

When actors play the same role they do get typecast and they just offer that particular role. Like you guys were mentioning Ashton with his new movie. He took a chance at doing something different because he doesn't want to be known as just playing a dumb guy on TV and movies.

But I think that hopefully we will see Adam in different roles in the future.

I have a lot of respect for Ashton Kutcher for trying a serious movie role. I know he gets hammered as the funny guy, and though he plays it so well, it's really cool when actors can see themselves being put into a molding, and will do something to help them break out of that. Granted, Ashton may always be looked on as Michael Kelso, but still, props to him.

That being said, I'd like to see Adam in a serious movie role, too. I'd also be interested in seeing him in a romantic comedy, not as sarcastic Seth, though, but that's later down the road. A serious movie role would be really amazing - and not just as Brad and Angelina's little kid, either, I'm thinking in terms of leading man quality.

Potential actors working alongside him could be Kate Bosworth, Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale (I don't know what kind of movie could be had between Adam and Christian, but they're both great actors, I'd be eager to see it), or Elijah Wood.
