I hope you like the title. If not let me know and I'll change it. I added some art to brighten it up a bit as well, if you've got anything else which you think would be a good idea adding let me know.

So where were we. Ah yes, they really did bond quickly. Within seconds. I love that about them. It made their friendship feel that little bit more special. It was like their entire lives they were meant to meet and become friends/brothers and finally fate or 'the powers that be' brought them together.

Glad you like the title. It is such a great quote. It makes them sound like super heros! There should be a spin off show with Seth and Ryan as crime fighters. That would be awesome. And their motto would be "United we're unstoppable!

Something else I really liked about "The Outsider" was how when Seth needed him, Ryan just dropped everything with Marissa and went off to help him. I mean, I get that Marissa wouldn't like it, but from my perspective of the friendship being the most important thing on the show, it was great.

That was so great of Ryan to do, I mean I was never a fan of the whole Ryan/Marissa thing.To me she always got in the way of Seth/Ryan time, which reminds me of the scene from the thrid wheel when Seth wanted to talk to Ryan but Marissa turned up and Seth tells Ryan he's whipped.

But anyway I think it's great that Ryan picks up on the fact Seth is in too deep and needs his help so puts off his love life to keep an eye on him, just like a big brother would. I always saw Ryan as the big protective brother. And Seth even called him big brother once.

Ryan definitely acted as the big brother in their relationship, always trying to give Seth guidance and protect him. I mean, right from the first day they met, Ryan was stepping in to stop Seth from getting beat up by Luke and his friends.

(I think I read that Seth was actually older than Ryan, but honestly, I gave up on trying to figure out OC ages after I realized that they were actually repeating their sophomore year without any explanation.

I know what you mean, although we do know for sure Ryan turned 18 in s3, but I have no clue how old Seth is supposed to be, although I think they were all the same age, cause I know Marissa was referenced in S4 as being 18 when she died, so obviously Seth and Summer would be the same age.
But anyway, I always went by their real life ages, Ben being a year (and a bit) older then Adam. (I'm not obsessed at all

), and I think the writers/producers would keep that sensibility of Ryan being older then Seth in the show in the way Ryan would always look out for Seth, particularly in S1&2, although by S3 and more prominently in s4 Seth started being Ryan's protector and in some ways acted like the big brother Ryan was to him in the first two episodes.

Despite what their actual ages might have been (and I agree that Seth and Ryan were probably pretty close, likely only a few months apart), Ryan almost always seemed to be the one in the "big brother" category to me. Probably because of how incredibly different their situations were growing up - Ryan had to step into a caretaker role in his family at way too young an age, so he always seemed older than his years. And since he was a caretaker, he wanted to look out for the people he loved, so he wanted to protect his new best friend/brother.

It was nice to see Seth mature over the years, to get to the point where he was able to sometimes step in and be the mature big brother in the relationship. (Although, of course, Seth always tried to be there and have Ryan's back, right from the start.)

Same for me too. And I totally agree he was way more mature then his years, and it was due to his life before Newport. He was never given the chance to be a kid, and Sandy and Kirsten offered him the opportunity to be one finally, which we would see in the scenes when him and Seth were on the pier together or in the pool. But he also had to turn back into an adult again, mostly when dealing with Marissa, but also when listening to Seth talking about his ladies, or keeping him out of trouble. One moment which sticks out to me has to be the pot stirrer episode when Ryan finds Seth high, and sobers him up and then takes him to school and they have a heart to heart where Seth tells Ryan that he doesn't want to go back to being the guy he was before Ryan came into his life. I love that Ryan tells him that he's changed since then and his grown into a stronger person.
And this was all thanks to Ryan. S3 offered up some great Seth/Ryan moments, where Ryan had to be there as big bro for Seth a lot when he was going through some stuff.

Yeah, so true, from day one he said he would always have his back, and he truly did. I love how in the finale of S1 he was willing to sacrifice his boat to help Ryan and Teresa. He would literally do anything for Ryan if he asked.

I rewatched "The Girlfriend". And one little moment that I don't think I ever noticed before was right at the start, when Seth is getting Sandy in trouble with Kirsten and says something about how he is the puppet-master. And Ryan goes "World domination to follow."

It just struck me as a cute little moment between the two of them.
