I want to be a Cohen also [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img] I think that they are a great TV family that care for one another and it's not a TV family that it all goody goody. They have problems and stuff like any other family and work them out.

I think Ryan's fits in well with the family because it makes them a whole unti. I don't know how to explain it because he fits in.

I just love seeing them all together in scenes it's so much fun because they are great together.

I heart the Cohens. Prolly my favorite aspect of the show..since I ship the 'rents, and love Thee Seth. (Naturally, heh.)

ETA..I forgot Ryan, lmao. ITA to the one who said he adds balance. A friend for Seth, and gives the family insight on his way of life.

Do you think S&K really see him as their son, now? IMO, not yet, but soon.

I do think that Seth sees him as a brother, but that's because he's Seth. He was so excited about finally having someone that he adapted to it really quickly (remember how much he missed Ryan when it was only the second episode?)

S&K, on the other hand, definitely don't see Ryan as a son yet. I think they're both a little overwhelmed by the extra responsibility that comes with having to be parents to Ryan - after all, dealing with him is completely different from dealing with Seth - but haven't really come to see him as a son yet. I think that'll take a while. Ryan obviously doesn't see them as parents yet either, and he's trying not to be a burden. It'll be a while before Ryan and S/K are completely comfortable with each other, and once that happens, they'll have come to see each other as family.

Like everyone else on the thread, I obviously love The Cohens. You don't see many television shows today that give any attention at all to the family bond. Not to mention that this is the only show where I actually ship the parents.

I agree that Ryan's part in the family is not yet defined. S and K still don't see him as a son, and he still doesn't see them as parents, but I can't help but considering him a part of the family. Like Sarah said, it's confusing, because he's not a son, but he's not a stranger.

I tend to forget that Ryan and the Cohens aren't completely comfortable around each other. When I'm watching the show, I never doubt that they feel like family to each other. In the Chrismukkah episode, it was kind of a shock when the Cohens were talking about letting Ryan adjust to them, particularly when Kirsten and Seth talked about not knowing how to respond to him sometimes.

When I think about it, I know that they haven't come to see Ryan as a son and he hasn't come to see them as parents, but it's never on my mind when I'm watching the show.
