I was thinking, Sacred Heart is a run down hospital, maybe the hospital is facing closure, so Doctor Cox finds a buyer and its the University wanted to add it to its campus, the stipulation is both Chiefs need to share their time with the University as lecturer to keep the place open and people employed.
I believe they have already started production on the 9th season, as they want to get at least 4-5 episodes finished before the fall tv season starts. As for Sacred Heart being rundown, if you're talking about the actual building where the show was shot, then yeah, but as seen on the show it doesn't look that rundown, at least not compared to the first couple of seasons. Watched the pilot episode recently and was surprised by how filthy the place looked, with ceiling panels missing or discolored.

The pilot is a different hospital, so yeah that wound look run down.

But the whole point was its an old broken hospital from the start of the show, Bill wanted to show how badly Americas medical system was.

The hospital is not that bad now compared your right, I was just trying to throw ideas why it might be faced closure.

I mean filming more than production considering only today we have learnt who the new show runner is, that's clear that things are not that far along.

I hadn't seen the thing about the new show runner, so they may not have started filming shows yet.

As for Bill Lawrence wanting to show how broken down the health care system in the US is, I honestly can't recall him ever saying that was something he wanted to show on Scrubs. I do recall him saying in several commentaries how when they went looking for a hospital to shoot in, because of the state of health care in the US they had their pick of a couple dozen.

The show has never really touched on the health care crisis in the US, except in an oblique way, when there is a patient with no insurance and Cox/JD/ etc have to work around Kelso, but it's never shown as being a huge problem, just a bit of a work around.

May I took that the wrong way then, but I did think at the start of the show it was going to tackle it head on, but never panned out.

Ah well, I guess production will start soon enough now, I wonder if the new Show Runner will be the person in charge of casting.

Love reading your posts, so please continue doing them.

Yeah, the show never focused on the issues but it did touch on it. Like when people like Julie came about, and patients with health insurance compared to the ones that don't have any. I don't know, perhaps that's the most they were allowed to discuss about it.

Interesting discussion here

i think the subject was faced a little in My Jiggly Ball, when Kelso has to decide on who to admit of the 2 patients with the same disease, one rich and one poor.

That too .

I wonder if that much would be discussed with med students. Maybe some with niave little fantasies about what it would be like working finally in medicine.

Probably unlikely, I'm sure they have done their research on what the state of the american health system is right now.

True, but lots of people still thinking working in medicine is a lot more glamorous and you save a lot more people than you actually do. (So many lectures from my parents on this ) So they might well talk about that a bit.

Replace will be with is and you have a factual statement there

Yeah but I hope they let Donald Faison expand Turk, because I think Turk needs the most development really.

Turk struggling to cope could be a good storyline.

Turk as someone's mentor could be cool to see. They touched it with the Derek subplot but never really explored it.

That's true . He had the teaching thing down really well. Seeing more on that will be wonderful. And Mentoring too . I've always wanted to see that with the original interns.
