I wonder if they will learn not to drop names now till they have officially been cast.

It did create buzz that is for sure.

I merged them together and edited the duplicates Edie, no harm done . I know, FF went wonky there for a bit.

I don't know how I'd handle that. A guest spot though would be hilarious. And if we're throwing out random ideas out there, why not Rupert Grint? . He has amazing comedic timing .

Couple of thoughts.

Since the setting is more or less going to be the teaching ie: classroom/lecture hall half of the teaching hospital thing, I can't see Julie (Heather Locklear) coming back. It's been made pretty clear that Jordan and Perry are together for good, and a med rep like Julie would not be at all welcome in the lecture hall classroom.

As to the question of fans and whether the show will draw any new ones or have more or less of an audience, I think people are making a horrible analogy when they compare Scrubs/Scubs spinoff to Cheers/ Frasier. Scrubs has never been anywhere near as popular as either Cheers or Frasier, either with the critics or fans. In the current tv climate it's damn hard for a returning show to pick up many new viewers and for the spinoff it;s going to be even harder as I beleive many people are going to tune in thinking it's the same old Scrubs show set in an actual hospital and because everyone these days gets all bent out of shape about spoilers they won't have read or heard about the changes and will feel like they have been betrayed and will change the channel and never watch the show again. Remember Bill Lawrence has said that if the 9th season sucks, it won't just suck a little, it will be one of the suckiest things in the entire sucky history of galactic suckitude.

Thanks for sharing .

Well this is what I've been ranting about forever really, is that it's just so difficult to determine exactly how bad or how good it does. And truth is that I think most of the online fanbase that has heard of the news has either already decided that they aren't interesting in tuning in or they are maybe going to give it chance.

But the writing may not suck though, we can't assume that much. It's really put up to how many ratings it manages to draw in, and I suppose we'll just see when that happens. It's a sticky situation for sure and at a certain extent there's almost no point now to really think about all that.

Like you said, Scrubs was never a smash hit and we managed to keep it on the air for 8 seasons, that has to count for something. If we, as fans and the creative team it self can't keep the spin off going, well, 8 seasons is still one hell of a run and that's still something.

My main point is that, I'm not worried how well or how crappy it does. I'm ready for whatever happens and like I've said a million times before , Scrubs has come back from worst.

As far as the writing goes, while Bill has said that he has taken some Scrubs writers with him to Cougartown I think the core scrubs writers are still going to be working on the show.

It is interesting that a show that had such semi-crappy ratings as Scrubs did has stayed on the air for so long. I think part of that has to do with the fact that NBC's ratings tanked over the last few years and Scrubs was one of the few semi-bright spots for them ratings-wise.

While I like Scrubs a lot, and find many of the characters endearing, I'm not going to burst into tears if the 9th season turns out to be horrible. I've never understood how supposedly mature adults could invest so much in a tv show. Not saying that anyone here is, just commenting on things I've heard people say about shows like Lost/Arrested Development etc.

In April I was saying please let this show end, fact is I knew Braff was leaving I could not see the show continuing just at Sacred Heart even though I so wanted to see more things happening at the hospital I did not want it to be just oh Zach's left lets ignore that he was central to the show or even pass on the narration to obviously Sunny.

Now we know what the show will be, its a spin-off new location but still visiting the hospital and can interact with all the faces there but not needing to keep them on permanent cast allowing them to go and work elsewhere is great.

And it allows me to see what's going at the old girl, this new idea can result in a-lot of cameo/guest appearances by characters from the first eight years in a natural manner to.

I still have to wonder how keeping Zach Braff on cast for the first 6 episodes really will help the show, what can the J.D. character do, although I did laugh at the line when Bill in an interview said oh J.D. dropped his wallet and stays around for a further six weeks, so he knows its a little weird as it is.

I am invested in Scrubs yes, I do not know why, I am more invested in the characters, they are relate-able and likeable and its been eight years it is hard to see them go.

I am ready for a totally different show anything other than that and I will be hugely disappointed.

Ah well, end of slight rant / ramble that I guess no-one will understand.

And the fact that they were still a bright spot even with the little to almost no promotion is - in my eyes - a huge accomplishment really.

It's okay Patrick, I like rambles. . They're good posts.

But yeah, I know, it's odd, and hell even Bill knows that it's a very strange thing that they are attempting here. All I've ever said though is that well, if you are expecting the same scrubs you've scene forever well, that's up to you. But changes happen in television all the time. If you look at it through the years, the style of comedy on scrubs has been changing each season. So this is a bigger change than we're used too, I don't care. I say bring it.

Style of comedy and even style of show, but I have now come to the conclusion that Season 5 and 6 can be forgiven cause J.D. was sheltering himself from the grim reality of his world as a doctor and personal life, yeah its total BS but that's how I forgive for Season 5 and 6 bar My Lunch, My Fallen Idol and My Musical.

Thing is I know its BS but its suites how J.D. is stuck in his head, little Sammy and his realisation that he fricked up big time in his life brought him out of it.

Right back to season 9, thing is why do people think that the show will need to bounce back from anything, I do no see the logic in people saying they will simply not watch.

It is their loss I think, who knows this new show may end up being better than Scrubs of old - I seriously doubt that but it has promise and its got two fantastic leads.

I have to wonder when production will begin and the big name star is finally announced via whatever how people will feel then.

Cheers

ETA at 20:16 on the 7th July...

I was thinking, Sacred Heart is a run down hospital, maybe the hospital is facing closure, so Doctor Cox finds a buyer and its the University wanted to add it to its campus, the stipulation is both Chiefs need to share their time with the University as lecturer to keep the place open and people employed.

I don't either to be honest. I don't want to ruffle any feathers but it's true, it really is their loss. Like BL said, it wasn't really a creative decision, and he really did truly have to think about his staff and the network before the fans and I'm okay with that. We owe it to him really to just watch the show with maybe an open mind. It's not as big of a tragedy as people are making it out to be.
