| Scrubs Website - FF creation? From the introduction thread: Phrozen: "I really think "we" should do something about it. With three-four people getting the info on papir, one or two working on the page-design itself, and one helping out with the technical things such as hosting...it looks easy. And it would probably only need one-two people to maintain it in the future. I would like to see a Scrubs site with not only info about the show, but the actors as well. I mean...typical stuff like biography, gallery, trivia etc., but all together at one place. It would be really easy for the fanbase to find out stuff. I feel that MOPNT is quite perfect, and the only thing they miss are information about the actors. So if we could, as *~*Rach*~* said, do things in another direction...it would be great. I don't know how much work it would take, but to be honest, I think it's worth it. If we get that far: I hope the site gets a blue-ish scheme. And about "the design". I think it should be plain, and simple. Because with alot of text and information, it's easy to get caught up in how great the site should look...and by personal experience, too much focus on the design usually effects the accessibility of the site." Rach: I definitely think we should have a go at something. I'm good with HTML and the technical type things, and my Photoshop skills are pretty good (although if one of you guys is better, I will gladly hand over the reigns!), but when it comes to collecting info (about the actors, etc), I suck. I get bored! SO. What does everyone else think? I personally think it could be a great thing; multi-person run (like thesnitch.co.uk). I would help in any way I could. Unfortunately I am not nearly as knowledgeable regarding computer matters like some of our younger folks and I don't have a lot of spare time. But I will do what I can. I would think first we need to list out everything that would be required: materials, time, efforts, money, etc... then we can decide if it's possible for us to pursue. | Elite Fan   | Very organised! I don't think money will be an issue, to be honest. Like I said, I have six domains already that could be used to host the site, and if things go well, I can buy a cheap name and link it to some of the space that I already have so that it looks as though it has its own domain name  I also have Photoshop, and I can edit HTML in notepad, so I don't think we'd need to be buying any of those kinds of materials. I think if money were to be needed for anything, I'd suggest perhaps we chipped in for a wireimage account so that we can get large, un-watermarked versions of public appearances that the cast make, since we're planning on being cast-heavy rather than all about scripts, etc. Wireimage accounts are VERY expensive, though, so we can do without. Gettyimages provide large versions of their images but they're watermarked - someone with enough photoshop experience should be able to remove the watermarks so that the Wireimage account wouldn't necessarily be important! I've never visited thesnitch.co.uk before, but just stopping by now, I think that their layout is pretty much what Phrozen was getting at about being simple and not distracting people from the content of the site. We should be aiming for something like that. I think what we need to know first is how many of us are interested in helping out, and what peoples individual skills are. Then we need to look at what kind of content we'd be wanting to have, specifically, split into sections, etc. I also suggest that we don't have a forum on the site, and just link to here instead, which would benefit both the site and this place Then the next thing would be to divide up jobs to the people who are interested based on what they can do! __________________ I’m just bowled over by him. | I have an image account on www.photobucket.com which is free and can have different albums on it. Just a suggestion. I agree-if we organize and work hard,I think we could pull off a fantastic site! | |||

| All fantastic ideas. I think it would be great for us to do 2 things: 1. make a list of all the sites you like so we can look at them for suggestions 2. make a list of what you'd like the contents to be then we can all compare notes. I am not photoshop or very html saavy but I learn quick and if I can help do that stuff I will try. I'm just nervous about committing myself and then not have time to actually do it - so I'd want to ease into it. I would be happy to be one of the *news* surfers. Find information, pics, etc... and to help organize information as organization is my strong suit (Some tell me I'm too organized. No such thing I say!  )I really like the idea of just linking to this forum. I would love for it to be a cast heavy theme but I also like an episode guide (like buffyworld.com) where you can have screencaps, quotes, trivia, etc.. | Elite Fan | Mary - thanks for the offer of the photobucket account I think I have plenty of space and bandwidth accross my domains for us to use - the suggestion of the wireimage/gettyimages accounts were actually more for finding pictures than hosting them Crystal - I love the idea of putting together a list of sites we like, because it would give us things to work from. Some shows have fantastic fansites so I think they'd be great inspiration! You should definitely be a new-gatherer, if thats what you feel comfortable doing! Like I said, thats the part I'm NOT so good at  And I agree that we should have episode guides - thats one thing that MOPNT doesn't have. They have scripts, but no basic descriptions, which is something we could do with. Buffyworld.com is a perfect example, because I use that all the time. | I think it’s importnant that all the information, all the trivias, absolutely everything from pictures to sounds should be within the site. Unless there of course are some copyright-problems etc. Articles and stuff like that, should be linked to. I hope we can get a good and easy domain. In Norway a .org, .com and .net –domain costs 100 kroner a year. (around 12-15 dollars). There’s also websites with 300MB for 10 kroners a month (1,5 dollars). I’m into the “thesnitch.co.uk”-look. A-must to have expanding height and width. I think the colors should be within the blue-scale. Maybe some lighter-blue. Not only does that reflect the scrubs they’re wearing, but it also gives a more comfortable colorsetting. In the same way Dr. Kelso talks about colors, when the Janitor gets his blue uniform. It’s much more delight to read a lighter, happier site, than a dark site. Not always, but I think the colors on the “Thesnitch”-site were too dark. I don’t know how to explain it, but when it comes to menus, I think there should be two of them. One, with the main-categories under the logo. (example: The MOPNT-site) Only with buttons. And as on the snitch-site, a menu on one of the sides, which includes the under-categories. And polls and “other kinds of news” under, or on the opposite side. And if we’re gonna use 3D-effects, I hope we don’t use it too much. Because it sometimes looks cheap when there’s gradient-stuff everywhere. What kind of code do you gotta use to create news-stuff like the one on the mainsite of snitch? Is it PhP? I guess we could use CuteNews, and just modify everything. I can’t explain how CuteNews works or even how it looks like, but search for it. It’s a great code where you don’t have to go in and change everything when you’re adding news. Probably not important at this stage  I agree about linking to this forum. Except if the website end up being really popular and “winning prices”, which I doubt The categories…I’m just putting it out. Home/index, the show, trivia, episode guide/list, site news, show news/actor news, actors, characters, show/episode galleries, actor galleries, actor biography, links, contact-page, some fun-stuff, tests, wallpapers, “rumours”, maybe a timeline or a archive of older news, downloads, videos and audio (if we end up getting a lot of space) etc. And about videos and audios. I saw that there was a link to a Chalke interview on Star-TV here. I hate it when you can’t download the files, and must stream them. As a collector and a “fanatic fan” I gotta collect everything I can find. Found a program which records online streams, and hopefully it works. And again, since there’s so few things about Scrubs on the web, it’s annoying when you can’t get hold on what you find. This has nothing to do with the website, I just got angry. Sorry about writing a lot of stuff down. You see…I’ve been whining about the web-site-subject for two months. I can’t think of any other things yet. But however the site ends up, I’m probably really happy. | |||

I have the following: Satans-Toady.net (150mb, 50mb unused at the moment, 6gb bandwidth) Maybe-Later.com (same specs as above, currently 80mb free) Holding-Hands.net (which is awkward to use and I'm letting go when it expires in November) Suicide-Romance.org (1gig, 650mb free, 35gb bandwidth) Warm-December.org (500mb, 350mb free, 15gb bandwidth) Two-Sides.net (2.4gig, 2gig free, 120gb bandwidth) What I'm quite happy to do is set the site up as a subdomain on two-sides.net (since that one has the most free space), and then buy a dedicated domain name for it for around $4 for the year, pointing it to the subdomain. I mean something like this, where I have the name start-screaming.net registered and it appears as its own domain, but really it's all at maybe-later.com/screaming - and you'd never be able to tell. | I think the list you got there is picture perfect! This might be a stupid idea, but I like the thought about having like a..."trivia-symbol" behind some of the text. Difficult to explain. (Why didnt I grow up in the US?) Kinda like... "Zach Braff plays the role of bla bla bla SYMBOL" And when you press the symbol, you get some trivia. I mean, the trivia's would still be on their own pages, but if some of the text other places on the site will have similar or relative information which connects with the trivia, I just thought it would be funny. Forget it Man...I also hope that the actors will get some own websites in the future. Especially Chalke, McGinley, Faison and Flynn. I know McGinley has a site, but there's nothing working there. | |||

| Great idea, and great site list! I work with PSP (Paintshop Pro), but usually for blends and such that are used on other message boards. Still, I could help out in needed, but Rach is much better than I am. I also have reasonable HTML knowledge, and find it pretty easy to teach myself whatever else I need to know, so I could help with that too, as well as a little reseach if needed.As for episode guides, summaries, etc, it might be easier if everyone who wanted to took turns choosing episodes to work on, that way it wouldn't be an overload for just one person and they would get done a bit faster. ETA: I get what you mean, I like the trivia idea! I was also hoping that the actors could someday have their own websites too, I was surprised that most of them didn't. | |||

| Phrozen, I can't really picture what the symbol thing would be like, I've never seen it. If you guys can do it - it'd probably be great. Pixe, nice suggestion about dividing up episodes. It will be a lot of work for just one person. Another thing I hadn't thought about though is where to get all the info from - like scripts. I don't wanna just take them from other sites but I don't record the show - so the only ones I have is season 1. | Elite Fan | I agree, I'm very surprised that especially Donald doesn't have a site, with the amount of things he's been in! For the media section, we can also have caps of other things that the cast have been in, perhaps? I think the list you provided is pretty spot on, Crystal! I'd love to say "lets have a spoiler section!" but spoilers for the show are pretty hard to come by, and spoilerfix.com and MOPNT do well between them there. We can just link to those. I think the articles, reviews, and even the fanfic sections, would go a long way towards making our site unique and an excellent resource alongside MOPNT, instead of trying to compete with it. I think we should leave the scripts to MOPNT, though, because almost four seasons is a lot for us to transcribe over again, and there isn't much point seeing as MOPNT already has them! __________________ I’m just bowled over by him. | True. We should start small - we can always add more on later! Good point about the scripts. They just take so dang long to transcribe. We could still put a collection of the best quotes from each ep. And instead of posting a script we could each in turn do our own review of the episodes - a la Television Without Pity style. We could still have the traditional summary too. Whadda ya think?
