It's a credit to Australians who are willing to put up with how Seven treated it for 8 years.

It's not really been treated that well here either, taken advantaged of by E4 that is for sure, I wonder why SKY One dumped it after season three though.

These are scans on Fanpop from another Aussie magazine before the finale aired.

The only real Australian publicity Scrubs got was when My Finale was about to air...

And they only put it in a decent timeslot coz it was supposed to be the last season... but that backfired on them!!

But it did do very well for them, sandwiched in between HIMYM and Desperate Housewives, which everyone watches

ETA: oops! sorry, i wrote something here earlier, thinking it was the OT thread, so I just deleted it sorry

That backfiring makes me wonder how they or any other station who buys it may handle the ninth / spin off season.

I'm guessing ABC might have some plans on that.

No new news about it lately? Hmm.

Scribe Josh Bycel will help perform surgery on ABC's "Scrubs," signing on as the show's new executive producer.
Bycel will serve as a showrunner on "Scrubs" alongside creator Bill Lawrence, who will be busy doing double duty as he launches his Alphabet comedy "Cougar Town."

Bycel joins the show as it undergoes a major storyline shift. Laffer is expected to move away from the hospital to a medical school where Donald Faison's Turk and John C. McGinley's Dr. Cox will be teaching.

As part of the transition, series star Zach Braff is back next season for at least six episodes, while other "Scrubs" stars, including Sarah Chalke, may make appearances as well. But the show will also be populated by a slew of new thesps next year.

Bycel will play a major role in that evolution. Scribe's credits include "Psych," "Andy Barker, P.I." and "American Dad."

Bycel also fills a void left by the departure of exec producers Garrett Donovan and Neil Goldman, who are now running NBC's new laffer "Community" with creator Dan Harmon.

ABC has picked up 18 segs of "Scrubs" for next year. Laffer was originally set to end its run last season and a season finale was produced so it could easily double as a series finale. But producer ABC Studios and its sister network began talking to Lawrence last spring about ways to keep the show going, including the med school idea.

I think it is a good idea to bring in another show-runner to help the transition. The mistake with spin-offs like Joey was that the same writers ran/wrote that show who ran/wrote Friends, so whenever a script wasn't working well, the writers fell back on insurance jokes from Friends and that show became "Friends' in LA without most of the cast', you know? I don't want that to happen to Scrubs, so hopefully a fresh voice really will make the new Scrubs feel different from the old Scrubs.

Or he could make the show suck worse than any other show in the history of television, but, hey, Bill has told us to prepare for that anyway.

Will we see Josh Bycel being as talkative and open as BL was?

This really is changing of the guards so to speak, I am in one way now glad Bill is working on Cougar Town, it would of been to easy to fall into the Scrubs oh we just missing J.D. with the exactly the same people working on the show.

A very long panel about Brand integration that Josh Bycel was a member of the panel.

Interesting. This could work really well for the show. Like Stephen said, Joey had a whole lot of things wrong with it, I'd hate to see that happen to Scrubs.

And if it does, we are prepared. We still got a terrific finale, everything else is just a plus.

New blood, its not only the cast that has left at-least two writers have gone elsewhere to, so its some way a new team and fresh.

Who knows how many people will make the jump to Cougar Town, we got a whole new cast and whole new team behind the scenes to enjoy.

Cheers

Looks like they're going to change the name of the show:

"Scrubs," the beloved series we said goodbye to last month when J.D. (Zach Braff) made his exit from Sacred Heart, will return to the schedule this winter, but it won't be the same show... not at all.

"Scrubs" e.p. Bill Lawrence told EW.com last week that when the sitcom comes back, it'll no longer take place in the hospital, but in a medical school with professors Cox (John C. McGinley) and Turk (Donald Faison) instead.

Sacred Heart won't disappear completely though. Dr. Cox and Dr. Turk's students will end up seeing several familiar faces while doing rotations there every now and then... Braff, Sarah Chalke (Elliot), Judy Reyes (Carla) and Ken Jenkins (Dr. Kelso) have signed on to appear as guest stars throughout the season.

The med students will be comprised of actors new to the "Scrubs" family, though casting has not yet begun. Lawrence did, however, mention that ABC is encouraging them to hire one big name, someone recognizable.

Sources close to the series tell me "Gilmore Girls"' Lauren Graham is currently at the top of their wish list.

As for last season's newbies, Eliza Coupe, Betsy Beutler, Sonal Shah and Todd Bosley, the interns who were once rumored to be "Scrubs" future, I'm told Coupe will likely be the only one considered to return in some regular capacity.

Neil Flynn (The Janitor) and Christa Miller (Jordan) have both landed series regular roles on new sitcoms, however Christa can do double duty on "Scrubs" since her new gig is Lawrence's other show, "Cougar Town," which will film right next door.

No, not next door to the abandoned hospital in the Valley. "Scrubs" has actually packed up shop, its sets will be built on a studio lot in Culver City.

Insiders tell me the producers are busy brainstorming a new name for the show as well... something that will probably include "Scrubs," but somehow

Yes. Thank God. So much happier now there's at least a hope they'll change the name.
