Lauren: I don't feel hot or anything, I don't know. We can still go though, let's just drive, and then we can go sit by the lake and just relax, maybe I'll feel better once I get there.

Maxine: Amy, Lauren doesn't look so good. I think you should stay here instead of going to Bruce's. Lauren's more important than Bruce. You shouldn't have gotten upset with her earlier. Your daughter should come first. I think Lauren should have some chicken soup and get some rest. She looks pale. __________________

Be there is a second,honey! Ma,please call Bruce and have him fax the reports and tell him Lauren is sick and see if we have some chicken broth.. Of course Lauren comes first! Lauren wasn't sick earlier when I was on the phone. The only reason I was going over to his house was because we couldn't discuss the case on the phone with Lauren interrupting every second. I cannot postpone an important custody case tomorrow because my daughter won't let me discuss the evaluation with my CSO. I have an important life altering decision to make concerning that little boy and I don't know if either parent is fit to have custody. That was so embarrassing . I love Lauren more than anything in the world,but she does need to learn some respect when I am making a business call. She is 13 yrs old now,not two. Amy runs up to Lauren's room. Lauren,honey---Grandma is making you broth. Do you want some herbal tea? Is there anything I can get you? |

Lauren: I suppose some tea would be good. Maybe a cold washcloth. I don't know what it is, mom. I was feeling fine earlier. Then all of the sudden, this icky feeling came over me. I've never felt like this before. But hopefully it's just a bug. But I'm sorry you can't go over to Bruce's mom. I know it's hard to do court things over the phone.

Amy: I will get you a cold washcloth and some of that raspberry tea,hon.
Sometimes a flu bug hits suddenly like that. Don't worry about the court thing now,just relax. I am sorry I was upset with you before. I had a bad day and I am tired and crabby. If you still feel lousy in the morning I will call and postpone the case. (Amy comes back with the washcloth and tea) I will be right in my room if you need something(and she gives her a little hug and kiss) ((and goes downstairs and to ask Maxine: Ma,I wonder if I should take Lauren into Urgent Care? Sounds like maybe low blood sugar? Don't you usually have a fever with the flu? What should I do? Kyle,wish you were here!!!! |

Maxine: Hopefully, it's just the flu. I'm sure she'll be feeling better in a few days. I'll call Bruce and ask him to fax over the informatoin to you.

Oh,God,please let her be OK. Thanks,Mom,I will heat up the soup while you call Bruce. I bet crackers will help settle her stomach. Please tell Bruce I don't think I will be in to work tomorrow. Maybe he could postpone that case for a week. I will call him early in the morning when I see how Lauren feels. |

An hour later... knock at the door... Amy answers
Amy: Bruce?! Bruce: Here's your fax. (Holds up folder with left hand) Last I checked, you dont have a fax machine at home. You also havent answered your cell. (Holds up a brown bag in right hand) Maxine said Lauren's got a flu or a cold. Thought you could use some soup and tea. __________________
Bruce: I couldn't stand there and watch you marry Stu Collins.
Amy: Why? Bruce: Partly because I think you're too good for him, too smart, too wise, too complicated, and literally too good. Amy: You said 'partly'. What's the other part? Bruce: Something I don't know how to name. |

(Bruce takes off his coat and looks up the stairs to see Lauren standing on the landing. She smiles feebly at him then her eyes roll to the back of her head. He runs upstairs and catches her before she falls)
Bruce: Amy! (Bruce yells) Lauren's burning up. We need to get her to the hospital. (Bruce carries Lauren downstairs as Amy and Maxine rush to the stairs) __________________
