I also think that the budget cut was very obvious in S8.
Maybe the S7 finale could have been a good end too...not to be pessimstic but a lot of things happened in S7 to build for the finale being so dramatic.

The one thing I will admit that I found more preferable about the S7 finale compared to the S8 finale, is the acknowledgement of Prue. Prue's astral projection power was used to help save the day b/c she created a potion that could imitate it and gave it to Leo. Prue's power allowed the other sisters to follow through on their plan successfully. And we got the traditional 'door closing' scene at the end which I interpreted as Prue looking over them. Those 'nods' to Prue were better to me than the few 'name' mentions we got thrown in the S8 finale.

That's what I thought too
Of course I loved that Chris and other family came back in the series finale but why not prue???

Yes, it was cool to have all the family back for the S8 series finale. But completely leaving out Prue (minus some name mentions) made it feel incomplete. I'll never be fully satisfied with the finale.

I think what made me even sadder was that inside of all those family pictures shown at the end - there wasn't even one of Prue at all.

For SD, I guess it was b/c they had no permission to use her image. But they could have had pictures of her as a child. Even that was missing, so yeah, it's like they wanted to acknowledge her as little as possible.

Overall, I was disappointed with Season 8 but there were some saving graces. The thing is, I was so disappointed by the season as a whole that I was actually impressed by the finale. The Billie/Christy story bored me to tears and I was not at all interested in Phoebe/Coop so I was glad that the first half of the episode focused mainly on Piper/Leo/Grams/Patty. I'll admit the ending was very cheesy, but it far exceeded by expectations considering how slow most of Season 8 tended to be.

As for Shannen, I was sad too that she wouldn't let the producers use her image. And while I loved Prue, I was kinda glad that she didn't come back for the finale. I had made my peace with the whole drama surrounding her exit and I thought, "Let the series finale be a happy time for all the actors who stuck it out". If Shannen had gone back, the press would have been all over the show spreading stories about more feuds between her and Alyssa. I feel like that would have overshadowed the ending of Charmed.

^ great point

I gave seen season 8 a few times and I must say certain things I did and dint like .. I loved the final over all series was ok

Over all I found the season to be too rushed aka Paige with Henry and phoebe with coop that's was too quick they fall in love in a short amount of time which is unlike them as characters

Billy / Christy were boring half the time you want to kill them .. I didn't mind Billie until she got all obsessed with finding her sister I wish they had another story to end it with

Certain bits I love the ending it may have been cheesy but I love it makes me so sad yet hopeful and happy that they got their happy ever after thanks to the demons needed to re-gather their energies and each of them having 3 kids was perfect

Leo being a teacher great to and the little boy some say it was Paige's grand kid which is nice ... The final scene was nice older Leo/piper walking up the manor stairs and you can see all those pictures that montage and than the ending with the door closing with a flick of a hand like Prue did just gets me every time .. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it

And ok the humor in the final aka Wyatt and Chris coming back from the future see Coop Wyatt .. Uncle coop ? Lol Chris looks like he wants to kill him I mean come on that's funny

I wished we had more family time in season 8 though

I know I am a super sensitive person anyway, but the end of the final episode always makes me cry like a baby. It's just a perfect finale.

Are there still re-runs on American television?

Well, S8 is certainly very different already and I've only watched the first two episodes. It's really weird that How Soon Is Now is not the intro song and instead it was replaced with a new instrumental piece. I'm guessing they couldn't renew the rights to the song. The feel of the show is quite different too. Why were the sisters at their own wake? I know they were supporting Victor, but it was silly when they changed themselves back in the house for a moment whilst friends were mourning them just next door. Anyone could have walked in! And Janice Dickinson? WTH? I like the spell that Phoebe cast to make more permanent identities for themselves, whereby only family would see their true selves and everyone else would only see their disguises. Also not sure how I feel about this new character, Billie. Especially as she is immediately bought in as a recurring character in the credits.

I actually really enjoyed Malice in Wonderland. Loved the Sex and the City theme and Phoebe as Carrie part narrating some of the episode. Warming to Billie a little, but still early stages. I like that she is a young and inexperienced witch just coming into her powers but seems to be confident and headstrong. I liked the idea of Paige becoming a cop. A shame it didn't work out for her.
