I think that would have been more of a continuation (kind of like a Full House/Fuller House situation), but it was the best idea available to them.

Yep .. tbh not all reboots are bad I love Hawaii five O and I'm currently watching mac gyver also good

And I done the continuous reboots like fuller house and ravens home

They are all good it all depands on the writing that is what will make or break it.

Will anyone give the new reboot a chance?

Sorry no. It always bothers me when they reboot a show with other actors. Nothing can replace the original actors. And it confuses me why they ever came up with such redundant thing called reboot. Seriously why cant´t they just let the original shows rest.
That´s my personal opinion.
