Due to overwhelming requests, you can now pay with a credit card through Paypal. The FAQ section has also been updated.

Another update for the fan club:

There will be a drawing among the first 100 members who join the fan club. When you join, your name will be added for the possibility to win an American Dreams Season 1 DVD, and a signed episode script.

I'm still debating whether or not to sign up for it...

I've signed up for fanclubs in the past, and not once did I have to pay for it.

What did those fan clubs offer? I have seen some 'fan clubs' for a show where you will receive an email newsletter and an 8x10 black and white promo photo. That doesn't have very many costs associated with it... this fan club does.

Before I opened the fan club, or even set the cost, I did A LOT of research into what other fan clubs offer. Many fan clubs give you some sort of magazine or newsletter, and then offer you 10% off that show's merchandise, or for musicians, you get to buy concert tickets during presale. That's nice, you have to PAY in order to get discounts. That's not my idea of a fan club.

Here are some comparisons of other fan clubs that offer signed photos, gifts, etc...

For the band "Phantom Planet" $20 US to join
http://www.phantomplanetfamily.com/phamily/about.html

For the television show "Angel" - $29.95 US, up to $49.95 international
http://www.angelfanclub.com/join.cfm

For the television show "Buffy" - $29.95 US, up to $49.95 international
http://www.thebuffyfanclub.com/join.cfm

For the NBC Soap opera "Passions" - $24.00
http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Passions/News/news_fanclub.shtml

For the band "Metallica" - $25 to $55 US, $35 to $60 international

I don't know what to say about the fact that the fan club costs money. It costs money to get color photos printed. It cost money to get logos put on gift items. It cost money to get letters photocopied.

I am just as big a fan of American Dreams as anyone else here. I would not be here taking advantage of other fans. I'm sure you'll hear from other people once they have received their fan club kits that it is worth it.

I've never heard of a fan club not costing you anything to join. I belonged to the fan club for the group OLP for years where you got a CD, 4 newsletters, a signed picture, etc.. even a christmas gift from the band, and it cost to join. I think the price is great for what you're getting when you join and for throughout the year

That's maybe what I'm scared of, I don't know. I've been in two fanclubs before, one for an American Idol artist, and an actor...When you want merchandise and all that..Sure, I understand you'll need to pay some kind of money. But the "paying" to be a fan in the club, Er...I'll just shut up.
