Judith/Sprague Grayden

So, I can't be the only one who likes Judith? Sure, she inspires Joan to do the stupidest things ever. And I guess that's what you can say about her. She brings out the idiocy in everyone! But, I'm sure someone else out there likes her. Right? Right?

*crickets chirping*

Um, ok, well you have to at least admit Sprague Grayden does an excellent playing her?

*silence*

FINE, I won't make this an appreciation thread but I'm really interested in everyones' opinion on her, whether they be positive or negative.

Personally, I can't stand her. But, are we supposed to like her??? I don't think we are supposed to. I think the actress does a good job if that is the case. Her being the bad girl doesn't bother me. Neither does her getting Joan into bad situations because I think Joan has free will.

Here's what I don't like:

1. She wants to take Adam from Joan. I think this is clear as day! I am a J/A shipper, so naturally I don't like this.

2. She seems to have take Grace's place as Joan's best friend. I don't like Grace getting pushed to the background.

3. She ruins the group dynamic. I think there are too many people in the sub-defective group now. I want Joan, Adam, Grace, Luke, and Friedman's stories told. We don't have time to add anyone else.

I have other reasons why I don't like her, but those are the main ones. I honestly don't think the writers want us to get close to her or like her. Nothing on screen has warmed me up to the character.

Just my opinion. If this becomes a support thread, then please ignore this post.

I actually do like her. I find her as entertaining to watch as anyone, and enjoy the scenes she is in. I'm not a fan of "bad girl/boy" characters in general (heh--so why do I love Grace? That's for a different thread.), but Judith brings humor to the show and I really like that. I like her as soon as Grace said, "There's someone else I have to get to know?" and Judith pulled a little hurt face. I thought it was cute and endearing. I'm weird, I know.

Yeah, the dynamics of the group have changed, but admittedly that's Luke and Grace's fault as much as it is Judith's. Face it, their dating changes EVERYTHING, and while I'm eager to see the gang deal with their relationship, I also like their ability to focus on each other for a minute. It would be harder to do if Joan didn't have Judith. We don't see Joan and Grace together AS MUCH, but that's really only this last episode (Wealth of Nations), I expect that's only temporary.

As for Adam, Judith is a big flirt, but I don't think she has any real designs on him. Plus, Judith and Friedman and the computer? Funniest thing ever!

Can't stand Judith, mainly because she seems to bring out the worst in Joan, rather than her best side. My mother asked me during last night's episode if maybe Judith is the devil. I said I was tempted to think that, but I really doubt it. Still, she does serve the same purpose as The Adversary as described in "The Devil Made Me Do It". She says she's a friend and cares about Joan, but we haven't seen much evidence of that. It's more like Joan is the only person she knows who will put up with her, so she doesn't want to antagonize her too much. I see her as trying to drag Joan down to her moral level, rather than thinking that just maybe there's something to be gained by trying to be decent to people.

Stealing (and encouraging Joan to steal), lying (Joan has *got* to stop that, immediately), and frequently making comments about wanting Adam for herself...those are really not the traits of a good friend. To make it worse, she's making it harder for Grace or Adam to talk to Joan with her being around. Her constant need to be the center of attention is annoying as all hell. I really hope Joan stops listening to her soon, and starts paying more attention to Adam and Grace, who are more likely to keep her from doing anything illegal and/or dangerous.

"Bad influence" isn't quite enough to describe Judith, but in a nutshell, it'll do. I don't think we're really supposed to like her, any more than we were supposed to like Iris, though I think they're meant to serve different purposes.

I like Judith, I think she's a little misguided, but I like her. I think she brings something fresh to the show, and I love Judith and Friedman's interaction, plus, I think Sprague is a realy good actress.

I didn't really like Judith in last weeks eppy, but overall, I like her.

I find Judith okay. I really like her interactions with Friendman alot. It's cute but I dont really like her in general around the whole group. I guess I still need to warm up with her character though this week isnt looking good for her.

I don't like Judith personally, but I love what she brings to the show. A mix of craziness, anger, sadness, and hope, Judith is a complex character that is probably more misunderstood than anything. Somewhere along the line, she's been severely hurt or mistreated and that's extended through her adolescene and will probably continue until adulthood, death, or she recieves treatment that works. As of now she's becoming pretty tolerable, but I don't think they brought her on to cause trouble for a few episodes then have her be all happy-go-lucky the rest of the time. I feel like something big is going to come up pretty soon involving Judith (pure speculation), and I can't wait to see what it is.

Before last night's ep I truly hated Judith and wanted her off the show. She was too much of a "bad" girl who was influencing Joan negatively. However, last night we got to see a different, nicer side to her and I really liked it. It still enoys me that she's kind of taking Grace's spot as Joan's best friend, but that's also Grace's fault since she's always hanging out with Luke.

Anyway, I like Judith now, and I'm looking forward to seeing a relationship develop between her and Friedman!!

They got a great actress for her but I agree with the "she brings out the stupid in Joan" but then everyone has/had at least one friend like that.

I loved her in this last episode. She showed how much she really cares for Joan as a friend. And hopefully she and Friedman will get together, because they belong together. Ah, young love....

I really like Sprague Grayden, I think she's wonderful. But I never really liked her until the last episode - when she got so hurt by Joan's accusations (+ her conversation with Adam about Joan saving her life) I think they're starting to show why she is the way she is. She obviously has issues but she really does care about Joan. I do wish Joan / Grace had more screen time though, Judith seems to be taking the best friend role. Maybe Joan doesn't know the make-new-friends but keep-the-old rule?

Yeah, I too am a little disappointed by the lack of Joan/Grace screentime, but it's not poor Judith's fault.
