~*Is Joan the only one?

~*As I was watching JoA this week I began to think a little.(That's odd for me! ) Anyway, I was wondering if Joan is the only one God Talks to and gives assignments to. Do you think there are others and if so do you think any of them are in Arcadia?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure that theres others that God speaks to besides Joan. Maybe she will find out later towards the ending of the season that she isnt alone or maybe she will meet others that talk to God. I think it would be pretty awesome if like Adam talked to God or something. *shrugs*

I'm pretty sure there is. I mean, what Joan does is important, but it's pretty minor. Maybe there are other kids, in small towns, who speak to God and basically do the same thing she does.

Not just young kids in small towns, but people of all walks of life from all over the world. Even if this isn't the case, it would make an awesome fic.

I agree with what Nab said.

I like to think he speaks to several people all over the world in one way or another. Also, didn't he say something to Joan among the lines 'I didn't appear you saw me'. So maybe people get to the point when they're ready for this, or God helps them get there because they're needed.

I agree. He appears when needed to people that need it and in places that need it.

I think this is one of those things where there are no wrong answers... or something to that effect. I guess it depends on how people define "God is speaking to me."

I mean, I myself feel that whenever God "talks" to me, it's during the times I'm really pissed or stressed out. Heck, even I talk to God during those trying times mainly because I, as bad as it is, use God as a scapegoat.

Clau, God did say that to Joan in the Pilot. He said: "I'm not appearing to you. You are seeing me." Which yes probably meant that God is everywhere and that Joan, at this moment, just happens to be "seeing" Him in this human form.

Nab, that's a great way of putting it:
Quote:
He may speak to them indirectly, but I don't think he shows up in human form to millions of people.
That's a great way of explaining it, at least IMO, within our own reality.

~*I had forgotten that he had said "I'm not appearing to you. You are seeing me." Maybe Joan is just one of the rare few that actually "see" God.

I think that says it best, Joan is just one of the people that sees him in human form.

I also think Kevin might be the one to find out about Joan and God's little talks.

I don't want the series to end with it "all being a dream" or something... ha ha... or you know, God being just a fiction of her imagination that inspired her to live a better life, because while that is humanist and secular, it seems kind of empty to me without the special spirituality. They already have a good stance on God IMHO with his/her attitude of achieving things practically and going forth and getting things done, a very proactive method as opposed to sitting around all day and praying for miracles.

Hey, like Morgan Freeman as God says, "BE THE MIRACLE!"

I can see them doing a weird time piece episode where Joan dreams she is actually Joan of Arc or something. Novelty episodes can be fun.

That actually crossed my mind. Y'know, what if it was a dream?

Thus my UC shipper heart would flutter w/ hope upon Joan going to school, seeing "CuteGuyGod", snapping at him as if usual b/c she thinks he's God... but finding out he's a real boy

But I digress b/c it's not happening anytime soon in this reality... which is why I thank G for fanfiction...

Anyway... I think that this show is bound to come across someone else who says they talk to God. But probably have some conflict over it b/c while that person may say "God said this", Joan might be "Wait! God did NOT! He just told me--" and thus getting these looks. It's a probability...

Haha that would be so funny. Far better than Joan calling out after him and eternally embarrassing herself. I really hope it's not a dream. Because that would suck. And they're going to have a second season, I don't think they'll do that.

*waves to SWG and points to AIM* Before I have to leave! lol.

I've thought about that multiple times. I don't think she's the only one, but like the rest of you said, she's probably one of the few that see him in human form. It would be a tiny bit interesting if she found someone else who talked to god like she does, but I like the fact that she's alone in trying to figure out what god wants her to do. It just makes the show more interesting.
