A new thread !!

Thank you Bee.

I really hope JoA's fan are going to post here.

It's great to know that JoA is placed 3rd in the "best new drama" award on fanforums but why are we so few to browse this forum ?

Nobody wants to talk about the show ? I don't understand.

What is your best JoA's quotes ?

Favourite JoA quotes...that's a touphie. Hmmm....first one that comes to mind is "The ready for my tardiness, is I am late." Love that quote!!

Good choice !

It's not a quote but I like this scene in "Friday night".

Luke - grace. (Another girl turns around. Again, Not Grace.) Have you seen grace Polk?

Woman - Yeah, well, what does she look like?

Luke - Well, um, her jacket is, um... it's kind of like yours and her hair is... kind of like yours-- well, kind of like you, um, and her and-- well, everyone here, I guess.

Woman - Are you saying we're conformists, dude?

Luke - No! No, no, no, no! You all have very subtle differences, very distinctly subtle--

The episode Jump aired yesterday, and that was one of the best episodes I've seen from any show in awhile. The ripples! One thing that I really liked apart from all the Joan/Adam stuff (because all of that was reaaally good) was the interaction Luke had with other people.

"Life isn't always about sex."
"Life isn't always about science."

And I loved that quote Grace said to Luke about how he told Grace's father about her spending the whole night with him...making a gun, on the phone.

I'm wondering why, in season 2, Kevin doesn't talk anymore about feeling something in his gut. I think the last time he did it, it's in "requiem for third grade ashtray". Is it because he knows that he has no chance of recovery ?

I'm also wondering why Adam seems not be close to any other boy ? He has friendship with Grace but not a close one. Nothing like Luke and Friedman. Maybe he's really a loner ?

I was just thinking about that the other day. Have we ever seen Adam interact with Luke, apart from the time when Luke challenged Adam when he thought he'd got Joan pregnant? Adam has been dating Joan for a while now and obviously spends time at her house. It surprises me that there is no communication between Adam and Luke.

Me either. In fact, he seems to talking, most part of the time, only with Joan. I don't know why he's so lonely. If Joan and him break up (I don't want that, I'm just thinking) what Adam is gonna do ? He's so vulnerable.

I would also like to see Adam and Luke become friends; IMO Adam needs a male friend, and Luke needs someone other than Friedman for his own social growth and development. I have a feeling when Adam gets into college he'll find more people with interests in common, especially in his major, and it might be easier for him to make new friends. It would probably limit a lot of opportunities for both Adam and Joan if they not only attended the same college, but took most of the same classes. It's good for couples to interact with other people and have separate interests. At the moment Adam doesn't have any friends, outside of Joan and Grace. They all sort of hang around with Friedman and Glynnis, but I can't picture Adam really spending much time talking to either of them on their own, without Joan or Grace as a buffer.

You're exactly in the same page with one of my French Canadian fellow poster. We had this discussion 3 weeks ago and we're agreed that It would be easier for Adam to find a friend in college. First of all, like you said, because of interests in commun thing and also because when someone is in a new environnement with a lot of strangers, he has to take risk to talk with others. Humans tend to chose the safer way in their life; hanging around with people, they already know.

I'd like to see Adam becoming friend with Luke but I don't think It's possible. They're too different and at a young age, It's important to be "with the gang", sharing same interests. I don't think Luke are able to connect with Adam a lot. Luke is pragmatic guy. Adam, like many artists, is a little abstracted, in his own world. But I'm wondering why if Adam is welcomed in the Girardi's house, we don't see him talking with Kevin or Luke ?

I really hope that Adam and Joan won't take the same classes ! I'd like to see Joan studying in psychology or becoming a social worker. I can picture her in this job. Especially if she's gonna stay connect with God. But anyway, I don't think the show is gonna go this far; you know with Joan working.

I agree about Adam having a male friend that he can really talk to, but I cannot see Luke being that person. The major reason is because of Joan. Right now Adam has a lot of stuff in his life, but one major thing is Joan and his concerns with her (their relationship, her "crazy" issue, talking to God) and that is stuff that he wouldn't be able to share with Luke.
I thought it would be kind of cool to see some more Adam and Kevin interaction. I think Kevin would be able to hear about his sister a bit more (he's older and more mature and has a better relationship with Joan than Luke does).

On another topic, I have to say that I am not enjoying this season nearly as much as last season. I feel like the show has lost a lot of the elements that made it so intriguing last season. Last year JoA showed that they could approach the issue of God and religion, but keep it open for everyone to watch and not have it turn into "Touched by an Angel". I feel like this season it's all about the drama between Adam and Joan and Luke and Grace. don't get me wrong - I don't mind hte couples, but I feel like we're seeing way too much of both and I personally am getting sick of it. I don't mind relationship storylines - in fact, I love Kevin's storyline with Beth because it was getting into the real issue of whether they would work and what kind of impact the accident had on both of them. We got to have a deeper understnading of Kevin, who up until now, has just kind of laughed most of the stuff concerning his paralysis off. We got to see him crumble a little and it made his character deeper.
I don't feel like the drama we see with Joan and Adam and luke and Grace really does that. Some of it does - like Grace revealing that her mom drinks, but a lot of this stuff really doesn't do anything to further the characters or the storylines.

I miss the God aspect of the show, which I feel has really been put on the back burner. this season seems to be all about Joan and her problems with herself mainly, which is fine, but I'm not liking the feel of it. It seems like Joan has completely changed from the character we knew last season - and while she has to have changed a bit because of Gentle Acres, lyme disease, Judith's death, and eveyrthing else going on, I feel like the writers took the changes and ran with them, and in doing so they lost some of their audience back with first season Joan.
what the show and the differences between last season and this second season really reminds of is the show Dark Angel, which was canceled after its second season. A lot of the viewers, and ppl here on FF, thought was that the focus of the show changed between first and second season. There was too much relationship drama and freak of the week stuff that the show became uninteresting and untrue to what it was originally about.
That's the way I feel about JoA right now. Instead of "freak of the week" stuff we have "freak out of the week" - mainly having to do with Joan and her mini crisis this week.
I love JoA and would love to see it return for a third season and more after that, but right now it's frustrating and disappointing.
wow, this turned into a long rant - I hope it all makes sense.

Oh, and I want Kris Lemche back!

Me too! Yeah, anyway I agree that this season has taken a darker turn, but that's understandable people are growing up and changing all the time. But we really need to give Joan a break, she needs some good stuff to happen to her, her bad karma has been paid off and need to be replaced with good.

Good point. But I think if we haven't seen much Kevin and Adam interaction, it might because of Kevin who doesn't want to be friend with a younger guy. And Adam and Kevin are different like Adam and Luke. Anyway, it would be interesting to see Adam hanging out at Joan's house.

At the beginning of this season I was feeling like you and thinking JoA has changed. My first thought was that I was feeling this way because of the surprise's effect wasn't there anymore. But after that, I've begun to enjoy JoA again.

JoA this season is all about trust. Joan was very upset and angry about God not being there for her in "Silence". She tried to avoid God and began to act like a teenager girl - happy-go-lucky or thoughtless girl. She's freaking out with the God thing. She's afraid to be crazy. So, IMO the fact Joan isn't trusting God, is the reason why it's all about Joan. She needs to have faith in God and trust in herself to be able to help others or understand more deeper God's lessons of life.

I hope JoA is not gonna be cancelled like Dark Angel because of lower ratings.

I like JoA a lot and I hope that JoA will return for more than third season. I do think that the writers have something in their minds for their viewers.

I would also love to see any interaction between Kevin and Adam. We haven't really seen anything since Adam pulled away from Kevin causing him to fall over. I think both would make good friends. They've both had life changes that changed the way they view the world and have had to 'grow up' quicker then others for different reasons. Plus like someone said, Adam must spend a bunch of time at the Girardi's why do we never see that?

Fave quotes -
Adam - "I talk to angels" (Fire and the wood)

Friedman - "Why are you talking so fast?"
Luke - "Why are you listening so fast?" (Drive, he said)
