3rd Annual Zeke Lerner Bowl-A-Thon: Jason & Sprague plan to be there!

This event is in no way affiliated with Fan Forum.
Fan Forum has NOT endorsed this event.

I was however given permission by the Admin Jerry D to post about it.

In case anyone is interested...

The 3rd Annual Zeke Lerner Bowl-a-thon
August 20th, 2005
AMF Rocket Lanes
9171 De Soto Blvd.
Chatsworth, CA 91311-4906

Sign ups will start on Saturday, May 7th, 2005 at 6:30 pm PT.

Who is Zeke Lerner? He is the 4 year old son of television writer/producer Garrett Lerner. At the age of 20 months he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) a fatal disease. Zeke is turning five in June. He is currently in pre-school and will start kindergarten in the fall, and is the proud older brother of two-year-old Lily, and son of Kim and Garrett Lerner. Zeke and his family will be attending the bowl-a-thon, and look forward to meeting you all there!

In 2003 some Roswell fans organized a celebrity bowl-a-thon (BAT) to raise money for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (FSMA). There have been 2 events, 2-16-03 and 2-7-04. Those events raised $22,000 and $26,000 for FSMA. More info on FSMA can be found here... http://fsma.org

The BAT isn't really a Roswell event. Celebrities from all of the following shows have attended: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Roswell, Half and Half, Charmed, John Doe, Reba, CSI: Miami, Enterprise, General Hospital, My So Called Life, Joan of Arcadia, Amazing Stories, Freaks and Geeks, and The Laker Girls...

Besides bowling with celebrities, there is a raffle, silent auction, and an exciting LIVE auction of TV memorabilia. Last year the Q & A with the stars was hilarious! (If you ever meet Jason Ritter, ask him about his bikini wax experience. )

To improve upon last year's Q & A, which was really fun, we will be accepting questions for the celebrities prior to the event.

NEW THIS YEAR: TEAM PICS WITH CELEBRITIES!

This year we would like to add a little something extra for the participants. Once your whole team has checked in, you will be able to line up to have a team picture taken with all of the celebrities in attendance.

Further details can be found on The official BAT website: http://www.bowl4fsma.org/main.php

To get signed up for the mailing list, either drop a note to Anne at dreambehr@yahoo.com, or sign yourself up at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bowl4FSMA/

The main BAT thread is on the Roswell board...

Zeke Update...

This is part of an email from Anne, the Participant Coordinator...
Quote:
Zeke was doing well the last time I saw him. I haven't personally seen either of the Lerners in a few months now. I think I saw Garrett in February, but he's been very busy with his new show...

The last time I saw Zeke himself was I believe in November, and he was doing great then! He is still in his wheelchair, but I know he's been on the medication, and he's getting *so* big and *so* smart for his age. His big thing is math and numbers - he was making up his own math problems during the meeting!
Here's a couple of pics...

From 2002?

Zeke and his little sister. (2004?)

Sorry I don't know for sure when the pics were taken. I'm fairly certain the 2nd one is recent, because Lily looks all grown up compared to when I saw her at the 2004 BAT.

I grabbed this from the B~A~T message board...

Please remember that these are tentative confirmations. Celebrities schedules are often very up in the air, but these people are all planning to attend. So far, here's who we've got:

Sprague Grayden (Joan of Arcadia, John Doe, Six Feet Under)
Iyari Limon (Kennedy on Buffy)
Felicia Day (Vi on Buffy)
Sarah Hagan (Amanda on Buffy)
James Leary (Clem on Buffy)
Nick Wechsler (Kyle on Roswell)
Melinda Metz (author, screenwriter--Roswell, Fingerprints)
Anthony Montgomery (Enterprise, Popular)

Sprague was at the first B~A~T... I'll see if I can borrow some pics...

Keeping my fingers crossed for Jason, Michael, and Patrick to return this year... And of course for Amber to make her first appearance!

Here yah go Jero!
Is Sprague a regular on JoA now?
She was really sweet at the first BAT, trying to sooth my dissapointment.

I'm kinda partial to this one for some reason....

Oh yah.... 'Cause she picked up that spare...

Thanks Spam!

Yeah I'm sure that 'spare' is what was on your mind.

I wouldn't say Sprague is a 'regular'... She's a spirit now.

Do you think she'll be wearing the 'Behr Nekkid Apples' Team T-shirt?

Excerpts from the APRIL NEWSLETTER:

Quote:
Date: Mon, 02 May 2005

REGISTRATION begins May 7th at 6:30pm PT (9:30 ET) at the website (www.bowl4fsma.org).

Participant registration for the 3rd Bowl a Thon is $85.00. However, if you register by June 30th, we're offering an early bird discount registration fee of $75.00.

The first 25 people to register for the event will also get a bonus prize the day of the event... we'll double your raffle ticket purchases! (i.e. for every 10 raffle tickets you buy, you're actually getting 20!)

In order to facilitate finding teammates, roommates, and such the BAT message board is open. The link is on the homepage (www.bowl4fsma.org), so head on over and check it out! Be sure to take a look at the board guidelines! And post away!

AUCTION: We are planning to auction off lunches with celebrities again, as we did last year. However, we'd like to try to keep these events as close to the BAT as possible this year. If you are interested in purchasing a celebrity lunch, we recommend planning your trip to allow a few days after the event to allow time for your lunch.

We are also going to be announcing auction items before the event! Stay tuned for this information on the website!

VOLUNTEERS: If anyone is interested in volunteering the day of the event, or knows anyone interested, drop Sharon an e-mail at volunteer@bowl4fsma.org

Don't forget to e-mail me your updated address to get your memory book!
Anne@bowl4fsma.org

Questions, comments and concerns? Contact me at anne@bowl4fsma.org

Looking forward to seeing you all in August!

Anne

I guess that's about it for now...

You're welcome. I'll keep it up as long as there's interest.

Where do you live?... I live in Illinois... About 3 years ago I discovered this thing called an airplane... Wonderful contraption!... I get on and about 4 hours later I'm in sunny Cali!... I it!... So at least once a year I treat myself to the experience... I work hard all year and I deserve it!
(No offence meant to anyone. I'm in a silly mood.)

A lot of people make a mini-vacation out of going to the BAT... Studio tours, amusement parks, Santa Monica Pier, (window) shopping in Beverly Hills, wandering around Hollywood (sometimes in a drunken state at 2 a.m. ), whale watching, oh and my personal favorites... Touring Covina, CA and Vasquez Rocks where Roswell was filmed.

*gasp* an airplane? I have no idea of the thing you speak of...what does it look like?

I live in Manitoba Canada so hopping on a plane is possible but it just takes to much money and effort. Passports and what not now. *sigh* One of these says I'll say ***** it and go but not this year.

Ahhh, yes, the $$$$ thing.

Well when you do get the itch to do the plane thing, I highly recommend Cali.

Are there any that have pics from previous BATs? Feel free to post them.

Does anyone have any questions? I sometimes feel like I'm talking to myself.
