Episode Discussion: Lee F (NEW - 7/19/05)

Name: Lee F.
Age: 42
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190 lbs
Status: Married
Occupation: Full-time Dad
Category: Foster Father Straight Guy
Location: Bronx, New York
Event: Father's Day celebration

Lee and his wife Elaine have ten foster kids, nine of whom live with them. Actually all these kids were supposed to have been temporary. They were all supposed to be temporary because they were all transitioning from another home to find an adopted home because Lee and Elaine weren't planning to adopt any kids. But, they couldn't see themselves taking the kids from the environment that they're at now, a nicer environment, and putting them back into the system.

Knowing what it's like living in foster home since he was a foster child himself, a couple of years ago, he decided he wanted to do something to make a difference. He knew what it's like, what these kids are going through so he decided to help out as many kids as possible.

With all the craziness of having to take care of nine kids, Lee and his wife hardly has time for themselves or even focus on themselves. The Fab Five's mission: throw a surprise Father's Day party for Lee.

****

Wow! 9 kids! But you know, that is really sweet! Sounds like it's going to be an awesome eppie. I can't wait.

I thought that this episode was oh so cute! Nice change from last week's episode. Lee and Elaine are such great people. I don't think I could do what they're doing. Opening their hearts and home to that many children, such a great thing. I have a friend who grew up in the system and was separated from her siblings. She's found 2 of them, but she has no idea where the other 2 are. I don't think she's ever gotten over it. It's so important to keep those kids together, and because of his experiences, Lee knows that.

Anyway, I liked the way Thom did the house. It can't be too fancy, because with that many people in the house, the most important thing is that it's functional. Lee and Elaine's reactions spoke volumes.

All in all, great feel good episode. Kinda reminds you that, yeah there are some huge jack asses in the world, but there also some amazing human beings as well.

I love this eppie, as well! It was so sweet.

I thought it was a bit rude of the parents to be laughing at Michael like that. I think Michael was a bit upset. It just made me wanna hug him!

And yeah, I thought Thom did an awesome job - he always does!

I caught it last night. and I'm proud of myself for remembering. (BTW I'm in the Eastern Time zone cause I live in PA)

I thought the episode was really good. All that shopping at Target, wow. I really lilke what Thom did to the living room area, it was really nice. That party for him was awesome as well. It made me cry just seeing how loving everyone was towards him and all the work he's done for all these children.

Hmm, same time zones. I live in Delaware.

I agree. Thom did an awesome job. Ted with the facial hair was good.
