Plus they only dated due to Luke's history of rebounding to the first girl that showed him attention after Peyton's rejection and only lasted so long because Peyton wasn't around for the first 2 years of their relationship.

If he didn't, they wouldn't have been together that long. We were literally shown that he did. I understand wanting to believe he only ever loved Peyton, but that's not the reality we got.

Staying with someone for that long doesn't mean always mean that you loved them and what we were showing in S5, I highly doubt that he really loved her in that way.

I thought it was pretty obvious he loved her, it just wasn't as much as he thought he did.

IMO, the only other girl he loved was Brooke the second time around.

He pretty much said himself that he did love Lindsey but didn't love Brooke in that conversation with Jamie.

It's Lucas though and often what he says doesn't match up to the way he acted.

The sheer lack of these two in season 2 is never going to make sense too.

He never acted like he loved Brooke, he treated her appallingly. It was shocking, tbh.

It made no sense narratively. Huge mistake on their part, but they made many of those, so not surprising.

He didn't act like he loved Lindsay either and his treatment of her was much worse than the way he treated Brooke.

I don't think the show ever fully recovered from the mistakes made in the backend of S1 and the start of S2.

His treatment of Lindsey was nowhere near as bad as his treatment of Brooke. He and Lindsey were together for years with no issues and he treated her well, there were issues with Brooke and he treated her badly right from the start.

He literally proposed to Lindsay just because he was too scared to deal with his love for Peyton and then tried to rush the wedding because he thought that getting married would make his love for her disappear, and not once he did consider or care what he was putting Lindsay through at all. That's much worse than anything he did to Brooke and considering he only dated Lindsay because she was right there next to him when Peyton didn't 'turn up' to the book signing, to say they had no issues and he wasn't hiding with her from day 1 isn't correct at all. Those issues just didn't appear earlier because Peyton wasn't around, simple as that.

I am not sure if Lucas ever loved any other women, but if he did, it was nothing for how he loved Peyton.

I think he loved Brooke on some level, but he didn't love Lindsay imo.
