A real question for everyone, d
Do we think that Nicki should have been given a second chance when she returned to town with Jenny?

Not saying get full custody but at least be in her daughter's life in some capacity instead of Jake cutting her fully out.

I ask because a lot of men abandon their children all the time but they can still have some kind of vistor's rights or something....

Obviously the only way I wouldn't allow visitation is if there was any form of abuse or child endangerment...

I think she should have been given some visitations rights to begin with and if she truly wanted to be apart of Nikki's life, I would go from there.

technically there was child endangerment when she left Jenny shivering in the car without a blanket

Then finally, after about an hour, I find her car and it’s parked across the street from some bar. (Whitey looks down.) Nikki was passed out in the front seat, the keys were still in the ignition and there was frost all over the windows; I couldn’t even see her… and then I look in the back seat,… and there she is, my little girl.

(Whitey looks down.)

JAKE: She’s shivering. She didn’t even have a blanket on her, coach.

WHITEY: Jake, I-

JAKE: One night. (Whitey looks up.) All she had to do was look after Jenny for one night. She couldn’t do it. (Pause) And now they want me to give her my daughter for three months… worth of nights? (Whitey sighs. Jake’s made his point and it can’t be argued with.)

I think she should have got supervised visitation. Jake wasn't a good parent either, tbh, it concerns me that people try and claim he was considering he essentially used Jenny as a weapon against her mother and seemed to think a life on the run would be good for her. That and letting Peyton play mum was horrific seeing as he had no reason to believe she'd be sticking around long term.

I've seen firsthand how damaging behaviour like his is to child.

I always felt like what he did was to protect Jenny and I certainly wouldn't trust Nikki with a child

supervised visits with a social worker maybe but definitely not alone given what we know about her past behavior

It didn't protect her, though, it harmed her. He handed her off to his teacher to try and hide her, that was about him, not her. His dangerous, damaging behaviour is why he lost her, tbh.

She ends up with Nikki's parents anyway, iirc, judge essentially decides neither of them are fit parents, which is correct.
