It’s much better you didn't watch it earlier. I mostly only occasionally lurked than actively participated in the fandom over the years, but I still caught so many terrible things. There were really lowkey homophobic and even highkey racist and lesbophobic comments about Anna (wish I could erase posts along the lines of Anna being too dark to look good next to Lucas and there being too many lesbians on tv from my memory).

I think it didn't make it into the show but is from dvd deleted scenes part? Anyway, hate they barely had any scenes after Jake came back. That dude just ruined few things I actually enjoyed about this show and season.

That would have been an additional benefit indeed. Idk why the writers were too much of cowards to go with an f/f ship. The OC did it at around the same time.

Nope it didn't. I don't know why the writers were so scared to go there either and I think it would have added some interesting drama to the show while giving Peyton's character some depth imo.
