The WB to Give 'One Tree Hill' a Winter Break

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The WB plans to give "One Tree Hill" a winter break, as the network confirmed today the series will take a brief hiatus following its November 30 broadcast.

In its place, the Frog plans to fill the Tuesday, 9:00/8:00c hour with the third season of "High School Reunion" (read the story).

"Hill" will then return in time for February sweeps to air the remainder of its second season. The network was also quick to note the decision shouldn't be viewed as a "hiatus" but rather a brief "rest" to avoid the show's low-rated repeats.

Overall this season, "Hill" has been a major success for the network as its most recent airing marked its most-watched episode to date in adults 18-34 (3.0/8), persons 12-34 (3.5/10), women 18-34 (4.6/11), women 12-34 (5.2/14), adults 18-49 (2.4/6), women 18-49 (3.6/8) and total viewers (5.4 million).

For a list price of $59.98 (nice price!) you will get 22 episodes running at 944 minutes, plus:

For a retail price of $59.98 you will get 22 episodes running at 944 minutes. The episodes will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame [ booo! =( ] along with English Stereo tracks. Extras will include an audio commentary by the cast and crew on The Pilot, To Wish Impossible Things, and The Games That Play Us, around fourty-eight minutes of unaired scenes with introductions and a Building a Winning Team making of documentary. Completing the package will be a Diaries From The Set, behind-the-scenes vignette with the cast of One Tree Hill, a gag reel and an Oh, Chariot musical performance by Gavin DeGraw.

Warner Bros. has officially announced the release of the first season of One Tree Hill. That's hours of fun. "One Tree Hill: The Complete First Season" will hit the streets on January 25, 2005. It'll cost you $59.99 but it'll be well worth the price as it will be absolutely loaded with special features. Erin, I didn't realize this. Hmm, when Buffy was up for renewal they would not match what UPN offered. I hope they wise up this time. I think the show is worth it.

You may have watched them play basketball on television. Now the stars of the WB series "One Tree Hill," which is filmed in Wilmington, will hit the hardwood for the public and for a good cause.

James Lafferty, who plays Nathan on "One Tree Hill," has organized a charity game against some of the UNC-Wilmington fraternities.

Lafferty and others involved in the show play regularly and are on two different leagues in town. In just a year-and-a-half in Wilmington, the stars of "One Tree Hill" have been involved in several charity events.

This basketball game will raise money for Girls Incorporated, the Wilmington Children's Museum and St. Jude's Hospital.

The game is this Friday night at Trask Coliseum. It starts at 7:00 pm. Tickets range from $4 to $8 and are available at the Wilmington Athletic Club and at the University Union.

Thanks, scherra and Deni for the ratings. I see we were still down this week.
My personal opinion is it's because of the character assassination of Haley and the third party involvement. I'll bet people tuned out shortly after seeing how Haley acted like she could care less about the situation in the first half of the episode. Too, bad they didn't stick around to see the greatness at the end, although sad, it was still amazing. I hope they are getting the message and start to bail Haley out of this mess they have put her in.

Eoline has stated that AB and LG are contracted for seven seasons so renewal won't have anything to do with them. Totally off topic but I thought I would throw that in there.

From the Lee Norris Yahoo Group, and also the WB message boards, Lee (Mouth) was apparently at the Gavin DeGraw concert at Claremont College in Claremont, CA last night! According to the people who were there, he was really sweet and took time to sign lots of ticket stubs.

Posted this on the NH thread, and thought I would bring it over here!

The charity game was great, my friend and I sat up on the upper part of the colliseum, and I didn't have my glasses on so the boys were a bit blurry. Though, I could still make out James and Bryan, and boy do they have game! James is particularly gifted, like we didn't know that already! After the game they had a signing, and we waited for a good hour 1/2 until we got up to see the boys. I got a picture with Michael (Felix), Daniella (Anna) while I was waiting in line. Then once we finally got up to Bryan and James I was so star struck. They were so nice, and friendly and it was so weird to see them up close and personal. A very surreal time, but I loved every minute of it! James was really sweet, and both Bryan and James gave me the nicest smile ever. I got pictures of them, I just hope they came out okay. My hand was shaking while I was taking the picture cause I was so excited. LOL We then spent today around Wilmy and Wrightsville Beach... what a beautiful day. I wish we didn't have to leave, but I never want to leave. I will get the pics developed tomorrow, just crossing the fingers that they come out!
