What to do when requesting clips:

2. Visit Character/Ship Websites First- Before you post your request, we recommend that you visit some of the various sites created by fans that focus on certain characters/ships and start your search there.

3. Requests and Mentioning Sites Already Searched- If you do not find the clips you were looking for at any of the various fan sites, or you need them in better quality etc. then please feel free to ask here. To be helpful, please mention where you have already previously looked for clips. That way, the volunteer helping to look for your requested clips has a great starting place.

4. Hosting- If you have experienced problems with any of the hosting sites, such as YouSendIt, MegaUpload or SendSpace, or if you have a preference, please make that clear in your initial request. In some cases it takes a large amount of time uploading clips to a certain site, only to find out that the requester can't download from said site. Failure to list problematic hosting sites, or a preference site will result in your request being ignored.

5. Repetitious Requests- Please do not repeat or try to rush your request. Search the thread first to make sure that nobody has requested what you are looking for, and then post your request, only after seeing that nobody has done so yet. Repeating or rushing requests may result in your request being ignored/unanswered. Please remember that people are making these clips for you for free, and on their own time. All they ask for is your credit and thanks (see rule 6.) If you have some specific purpose or reason for needing the clip/clips by a certain time, then feel free to list that in your initial request, and hopefully someone will be able to accommodate you. Otherwise, it’s best to wait for your request to be filled, just like everyone else.

6. Credit- Please give credit to whoever fulfills your request for you. It can get very tiring to make large numbers of clips for someone, and then receiving no credit for your hard work. Nobody can personally make each and every person do it, but please try and be considerate. If people fulfilling requests see they are not receiving credit, they may decide to stop making clips for everyone. At that point, this thread fails to serve its purpose.

7. Episode Numbers- When asking for alot of scenes, make sure to include the episode they are in, that way the clipmaker doesn't need to spend time searching for the scene(s) first

What to do when making clips:

1. Detailed Clip Help- If you need detailed information on how to make clips, you should first try to PM someone that you are familiar with for help, or PM someone that you see is active making clips here.

2. Size and Saving Options- When saving a clip, a good way to decide what size to save the clip at, is to select the option 'Best Fit To Size' and decrease the expected size until you see the bit rate (bottom left corner) reach 512. That is generally a good size for the clip. This only really applies if the clip you are making is already set to be made larger than 15 MB.

3. Uploading- If you are making a large quantity of clips for the same person, one of the best ways to upload the clips most efficiently is to make a .zip file with the selected clips, and then upload that single .zip file to a host. You should find this saves you a considerable amount of time.

Okay so we are starting over, if you still want your request please request again.

New Rule:
We are now taking 5 requests, where you can do 4 clip requests per form. This is just to make it easier for people doing clips, and so someone is not asking for like 20 clips and then not using it. Also if you do use a clip, please please please, link us to where you are using it, just so the clip maker who spent the time making the clip knows you used it and they aren't wasting time making a clip you aren't going to use. Thank you.
