stlavin95 11-09-2017 04:06 AM

Thanks for the new one.

BlondieLeigh 11-09-2017 01:20 PM

No problem. Should probably give it an OP, but idk what.

stlavin95 11-11-2017 06:43 PM

Not sure what you can put it in really.

BlondieLeigh 11-12-2017 06:27 PM

Definitely not going to be an easy one.

stlavin95 11-12-2017 08:53 PM

Yeah, I'm not sure.

BlondieLeigh 11-13-2017 04:15 PM

I'll have to figure something out.

stlavin95 11-13-2017 06:34 PM

Maybe some photos through the seasons maybe?

BlondieLeigh 11-15-2017 04:14 PM

That might be the best option.

stlavin95 11-15-2017 04:21 PM

Yeah it probably is.

Rewatching OTH questions and opinions !!!

Alright guys so OTH was and still I my favourite series ever. I was a massive addict when it was airing due to the great blend of sport and music along with the fact that you could invest in all the main characters , as they all had interesting stories on there own which isn't the case in most shows where you are only invested in one or two of the characters.

Anyways like I said have recently rewatched the whole series 1-6 ( I consider the real OTH only watched half of 7 as it felt like a totally different show when Peyton and Lucus left filled with silly plotlines and too much extra screen time) and its even better then I remember it being

Since rewatching its brought back a lot of memories and question that I hope you can help with

Is there a confirmed reason why Chad and Hilarie left the show? As like a said the show IMO never recovered

Was Jake always supposed to leave or did the actor Bryan choose to? I ask as I think he was a pretty good character

Team Leyton or Brucus?

Look forward to talking with fellow fans

BlondieLeigh 11-17-2017 07:05 PM

Hi, welcome to :ff: and the OTH board.

I agree it was a different show after LP left. It wasn't the same for me, either.

As far as we know, Chad left because he wanted to move on (although with recent developments I have doubts). Hilarie left due to constant sexual harassment and assault by Mark Schwahn (just typing his full name makes me shudder).

Not sure about Bryan. I believe he was busy with other projects at the time.

Leyton, always :)

Looking forward to talking to you, too.

Chad wanted more money, plus he wasn't that interested in playing Lucas. Hilarie seems to have left because she didn't want to deal with an toxic environment anymore.

I think Bryan had other projects, but at the same time Jake wasn't designed to be an long term character imo.

Leyton easily

That New Guy 11-18-2017 04:50 AM

Hey guys good to see fellow Leyton shippers haha still think there one of the best tv couple ever although I did quite like Brooke and Lucas. Like I said I couldn't really watch after series 6 as the show never recovered and I think that would have been the case with any of the two main characters leaving as the were all as important as each outside maybe Lucas who was the focal point of the show.

So Chad wanted more money?? I know recent things have come to light but do you think Hilarie would have chosen to stay on if Chad had signed back up?

Anybody got a fav season/Character?

BlondieLeigh 11-18-2017 04:58 PM

I do think that's the case with a show losing multiple main regulars. Greys wasn't the same after it lost Izzie and George in quick succession, imo.

I would hope that she wouldn't have. Tbh it upsets me a little that Joy and Sophia did considering what was going on, but Sophia seems to have explained that - she didn't want to let him take Brooke from her.

Agreed, but I didn't really like Brucas. Most shows wouldn't recover from losing two many characters at the same time.

I just honestly think he wanted to leave the show and only would have stayed for an ridiculous amount of money. She sadly would have I think since she wouldn't have wanted to disappoint the Leyton/Peyton fans who would have been upset if one party stayed while the other left.

That New Guy 11-18-2017 06:09 PM

Just finished series 2 on my catch up and although it doesn't flow aswell as the first series the highs are much better with the second half of it being pretty epic. Have to say think its better then series 1 which I didn't remember it being

Too my knowing I don't think Chad got many big parts after it so is a pretty big error on his part I guess but was a massive shame for us fans as they defo had another series in them with the core cast

Did you guys watch past 6? Seems from your post you weren't massive fans of it yourself?

I didn't think season 2 was that great at all and most of the storylines were pretty bad imo, outside of an couple. There is an reason why that season dropped the most ratings by quite an distance.

I'm not sure whether Chad staying on the show would have been the right move either since he wasn't really well written character at that point imo and Mark didn't really care enough to give him decent material.

I didn't watch post S6 outside of an few scenes, so I can't really comment on it.

Like I said it for sure didn't flow aswell as the first one but the back end of it I really enjoyed. But the first half was very hit and miss I agree

What I mean is another season they could have had Brooke's wedding etc and done it properly with Lucas and Peyton in attendance but alas it is what it is

Like me. I watched half of 7 and although I quite liked Quinn it just really didn't feel the same for with too much filler and way too much Jamie screen time.

Another question I hope you could help me with. I remember reading an interview where Hilarie said the plan was for Brooke and Lucas to be together which I found strange reading as I remember at the time most people where rooting for Leyton and from the very beginning of series one the focus was on Leyton

BlondieLeigh 11-18-2017 06:48 PM

I still don't remember season 2 for the most part. I remember Taylor, and Haley's dreadful tour that I am now once again questioning the motives of (did he ship Joy off because she stood up to him or something?).

If Chad had stayed longer then his character would have been damaged more, and they'd done that more than enough. They didn't even properly redeem him after season 5 so I have no doubt they would have done more damage than good if he had stayed.

I watched 7-9. Didn't like Clay so I kind of skipped through it.

Iirc, someone that was there when she said it explained on twitter that she was being asked specifically about the end of season 3 had the show not been renewed. It was over a year ago so idk where to find it now.

stlavin95 11-18-2017 07:13 PM

^ Season 2 is also where Luke was suddenly pining over Brooke and Peyton spent the second half of the season playing house with Jake. Yeah, I wonder if the way Luke got written in seasons 5 and 6 played an part in why Chad wanted to leave? The show getting cancelled at the end of season 3 would be the only way that Brucas and Jeyton would have ended up together lol.

BlondieLeigh 11-18-2017 07:26 PM

Yeah, that made no sense at all  And the playing house stuff was insulting.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did, Lucas was written horribly in season 5 and they ignored it in season 6.

They wouldn't have had a choice then.

stlavin95 11-18-2017 07:34 PM

I didn't like either storyline and both of them made no sense  Exactly and I didn't see it getting better if he stayed in season 7-9. No we wouldn't and they would have been forced to settle for them.

BlondieLeigh 11-18-2017 07:51 PM

If he had been around in season 7 they would have continued to ignore how horrible he was in season 5, LP would probably have got pointless drama etc.

Yep.

stlavin95 11-18-2017 07:57 PM

I can see them getting storyline that makes him look bad again, since that was Mark's mo when it came to odd seasons for Luke.
