No, it's not. Do you know it? I watched the first two episodes and because there isn't really much of a plot or storyline it's not difficult to follow. There were mainly scenes with Norman and his dead mother and Madeleine and Sam, played by Austin. Especially the storyline with Austin as Sam Loomis is easy to understand. I watched almost all of his older movies and series, when he was really young. It was odd to see him 'matured'. Like an older version of Julian.

If you don't know it I can really recommend it. Not only because Austin is in it, but it's creepy and fun to watch at the same time. And Freddie Highmore is great in the role as Norman Bates.

Yeah, I personally find it difficult to pick an show up without starting the show from the beginning. It's an great show though, but I think Julian is an lot nicer

Of course there are some things I don't know or understand. But it's not necessary to know it to follow the series. I know the movie though. I think the series based on the movie, right?

Yes, Julian is a lot nicer than Sam.

Fair enough, and it kinda is but the writers changed so things about it from what I've heard (never watched the movie)

I guess. Series are often different than movies. The same is the plot that Norman is a mentally disturbed young man with a strong mother fixation.

TV Shows can go into more details than Movies can most of the time.
