Great point, Lena. Deb has watched her own marriage disentigrate; she has spent her whole life pretty much reviling a man she married at a young age. It's only logical that she doesn't want her son to go through the same thing.

Add me to the Deb list! I love her. She's the only one who has brains and can see that getting married at 16 (?) is not normal! Why do they have to get married now anyway? If N/H truly love each other, they can get done with school, college, and then get married and start a family. But, this is a TV show, so maybe I shouldn't waste my time!

I liked it when Deb made an effort to get to know Karen and help her out with the cafe.. I gained a lot of respect for her when she did that because it's understandable that she would want to keep far, far away from her, but she didn't.

See now Deb was getting a bad wrap because of her saying about ruining Nathan's life when in reality she was looking out for Haley too. C'mon the woman has been in a sitaution where a young love marriage won't work...look where she is. I can see where she doesn't want that for her son OR Haley. Give her a break all ready, her world is falling apart around her!

I love Deb. That scene in the premiere when she was holding a photo of a younger Nathan and crying just broke my heart. She loves her son so much and he's got a new family that he doesn't really want her to be a part of. She's not perfect, but she's trying. I bet it took a lot of courage for her to go to N/H's engagement party(with a beautiful present no less, I wonder what it was) and she was kind of snarky to James and Lydia, but she's got a good heart. She supports her son, that much is clear, but that doesn't mean she neccessarily has to agree with every choice he makes.

I like Deb a lot too. Her friendship with Karen is cool. She broke my heart the other night when she was holding Nathan's picture.
I thought that Nathan was rude when he told her, "Nobody cares what you think." He acts like he's so tough, but he seemed to accept it when Deb took some food over to him when he first moved into his apartment. Also, didn't he borrow her car in the finale but that scene was cut? I like Nathan and Haley, but I just find the whole marriage thing weird. It has backed the writers into a corner as far as storylines. I think we still could have had drama if they had gotten engaged and Haley had moved in with Nathan. |
