I was told a similar lie once when I was growing up and it completely messed up the way I viewed my dad for a long time. It sucks that NH are put in this situation.

I hear where your coming from, they have created such a great father son relationship and such a wonderful family dynamic this past season that it is going to be real hard to watch how it effects Jamie and his view of his dad. He already had to watch his dad spend 4 months in a drunken stupor and be distant from his family and than his father left the house for a while because of Nanny Carrie, now he has to watch his mother yet again be hurt by something that is father allegedly has done. He doesn't even know about all the past mistakes that Nathan has done that ultimately hurt his mom, Dante ring a bell. I hope they address this. This is great TV and good drama. Exploring feelings and emotions.

I don't want old school NH simply because I think they are so much better now. They've grown up and matured so much as individuals and in their relationship. I love that despite the years, they still love each other and have the same passion for each other they always did. We still get the Nathan and Haley we fell in love with but now we get to see them as parents, which is such a large facet of who they are NOW. In the beginning people complained because Jamie was always with other people and now people complain because he's with NH more. I personally love the NHJ family scenes but I'm also glad we are getting to see more individual storylines/sides to the characters.
Well said Yan! I totally agree. Especially about the part in S5 where people complained that it wasn't even like NH were hsi parents and that he was always with Brooke/Skills/ect, the community kid he was called. I know it was Jamie's B'day & he had many scenes but he really was more a prop to everyone else I thought in the ep, the way it should be. I thought the HJ scene was moreso to show that Haley as a mum wants him to stay a kid, the NJ scene was about forgiveness, he even propped Brooke in his scene with her as it was more of a set up just to introduce Julian to the party.

Was 7.01 perfect in every way? Nope, but I've made my peace that this show will never be S1 or S3 again. I just appreciate the new stuff we get to see for NHJ in this part of their life. We got to see Haley/Jamie scenes, Jamie/Nate scenes, NHJ, NH (okay not much, but it's just the first ep and they have drama coming up) and we got to see new foundations being built (Haley/Quinn, Jamie/Quinn, Clay with NHJ, Nate/Quinn which I loved that they had a total BIL/SIL vibe already, a great start nothing like with Taylor).

and there ARE personalities like that, that just feel SO much but don't express it, and that's who haley is to me.
You raised a good point and I agree. But everyone has their limits, so it'll be nice going forward into this season if Haley expresses more of what she's feeling, while still handling it internally in her own way. I think with her sister here she might open up abit more. But it's also not just about Hales talking more about what she's thinking about, but hving people support her too. Come round and ask her what she's doing, how she's feeling ect. We saw some of that this ep for instance in the BH scene.

^ Oh I see. But that's subjective because I have seen the 'spark' so many times since they've had Jamie. Also I personally just don't like it when NH don't get much (i.e. second half of S5, a lot of S6). But when given the material, they still shine imo. But I thought 7.01 had some nice balance with family scenes and NH being all couply (even if we didn't get a lot of scenes on their own).

I haven't given much thought to how this will affect Jamie's view of Nathan . I wonder if this will be explored at all, because that could be really interesting to see. I mean the boy is seven. You guys are right, it's really hard to comprehend. And usually at that age, your parents keep their *issues* to themselves. But if this will be blown up, it won't be possible to keep from Jamie.

In regards to the episode, I really enjoyed the Haley/Quinn scenes . I think that Haley/Shantel have that sister-thing going on, and the more they play their roles, the better it's going to get . I'm excited for that.

I liked Haley's hint of wanting more kids when referring to the way they grew up, house full of noise. And I love that Quinn said "get your sexy butt over here" .

Also that Haley/Jamie scene was really sweet . And obviously the NH scene.

I agree with you Jess, I think Jamie was proping this episode. I liked it that way. He wasn't shoved down our throats or anything.

My thoughts on the premiere:

-Joy looked awesome. Love her longer hair and she's such a great singer.
-I liked the intro of Clay and Quinn a lot. I think the clay/nate and quinn/haley dynamics work well. Also Clay saying Quinn was hot was cute.
-I forgot Brooke was gonna propose so early. Bju are sweet but the drama is only starting and I'm not looking forward to it. Julian was looking FINEEEEEE.
-I forgot about Miranda. Not excited about that.

I liked it a lot. With Jamie's birthday it just felt like there was a point to the episode and I liked seeing everyone together. When they were playing football that was a cute scene. I wish they had explained where Lucas and Peyton went just a bit better. It felt kind of like a slap in the face that they didn't even really touch on it. But I do felt like the episode set up some interesting storylines.

I think out of the later seasons without Lucas/Peyton season 7 was my favorite.

Mine too. I have to admit that the show was quite different without them though!

It was, and while I enjoyed the seasons with them in it the best, season 7-9 weren't bad. Especially season 7.

I agree. I'm surprised the show went on for 3 more seasons without LP.... I didn't think they could do it.
