It was just so different. I think they probably weren't expecting her to have a larger role, but I don't think that really excuses giving her such a shallow introduction. Rachel was introduced similarly, but she was also introduced as a potential antagonist so that's not as frustrating.

I hadn't noticed it before earlier, but while Lucas was looking at it he was wearing red and of course with the light hair. Seems a bit too specific to be a coincidence.

I was writing as I watched, and if the livechat for 1x03 doesn't go ahead tonight I'll do the same with that one when I get the chance.

Few things to add after second rewatch of this year..

While it was Brooke's first episode, the start of her character was not the best It's great rewatching knowing how much better she gets as the season/series goes on.

I didn't talk about Haley and Lucas's scenes at all which I loved!! I loved their rooftop scenes and how much Haley listens and offers her support. Also love the Pornstar convo!!

So happy that Karen went to the game in the end and faced her demons for Luke!

Karen doesn’t want to go to the game… Haley and all her slashing was hilarious. I like her. Ah low rider headphones… Flashbacks..

Nathan wants Luke off the team… Whitey gives Luke a shirt. Nice.. Mouth/Jimmy – banned media. I never really got the sports announcement stuff. Nathan- you want my world… Jebus.
I have to keep reminding myself that I like later on Nathan and ignore this.

Hey, Brooke! Lusting after the other brother. Awkward double dates never happened with those four. Nice legs . Oh Luke. Maybe I didn’t go to a good school, but I don’t remember so much dunking at basketball games.

Cue the opening song…. Oh banging in the car.. Nathan and Peyton, he just can’t stop laughing. He can’t just make out with his girlfriend? He left her there? What the hell? She is more mad about him wrecking her cd.. interesting.

Karen and Keith – I love their scenes. Karen regrets not going to his game. I don’t blame her, what normal adult would want to hang out at a high school? She probably should have left town.

Lucas shooting hoops and Peyton appears. I like these two. He’s giving her a ride. . Dan is watching the game video? These parents need more to do other than helicopter parenting.

Peyton is pretty depressing at times. Inviting Lucas in? What I don’t remember half of this. Oh burn.. that wasn’t nice. Peyton is again more offended by the music stuff than the leaving her by the side of the road. Nathan begging Peyton to let it go is just sad. Her agreeing to it is more sad. Weird I like these guys later on…

Teachers never set up kids to get embarrassed like that… That isn’t okay. This bastard thing is weird… Like is 1950? Whitey is good with the one liners. I like Jake.. I can’t remember much about him. Man Whitey just keeps it going..

Mini golf? Do teens play mini golf. I must have been much different than the mainstream. I never played mini golf. Brooke is lusting… I like that these two where friends in the beginning. I hate what the writers did to them, but it’s nice to see it now.

Keith is such a great dad. I wish he had a better ending.

Lucas and Karen fighting is extra sad. Both of them are screwed up. Luke dumpster diving for Petyon’s art was a little … um… I like how close Lucas and Karen are. I am still confused Dan chose basketball over Karen? I thought he chose Nathan? I hope this is more clear later on.
Dan’s revisionist history is crappy.

Jake and Lucas – I like. He is the voice of reason in this mess.
Nathan is totally stalking Lucas now. . I had forgotten how much basketball is in this show.
Lucas is still choking. Nathan is painting Peyton’s toes ? Really? He wants to quit basketball.. Maybe not. I wonder how different the show would have been if he had of..

Go away Dan… Jake is a good guy. I don’t remember any of this.
