I like how the show takes cliche stories and makes them new.

For me it was the first drama i felt i could really get into. Dawson's Creek and Buffy were over, they weren't even my generation really, but the OC is exactly in my age group so that added some appeal. Furthermore, the writing was damn good, and it just felt a lot edgier than Dawson's Creek or 90210. It was a well written soapy drama with intriguing characters, so that's pretty much what drew me in.

And Adam Brody.

And then Rachel Bilson.

So yeah.

After reading some peoples responses I personally think its sad that how fast most only watch the show for certain things. I hope we can make it to season 3, with the way its going.

haha

Because it's the first teen soap to ever make me care about the parents and the other adults actually MORE than the teens. Especially in the romance department.

Seth/Summer are cute.
Ryan/Marissa are BLECH.

But Kirsten/Sandy? GOLDEN.
Julie/Caleb? Deliciously Bad.
Jimmy/Hailey? Sexy and sweet.

And really, all the adults are just great. They are entertaining. Smart. Savvy. And comical.

I love Ryan. He's my favorite character. But the Marissa stuff drags him down. Take the adults away, and I'm not watching this show any more.

The adults on the show do rock.

I was an avid Creek fan as well as 90210 fan, but I could have cared less about any of the happenings between the parents on both shows. Especially Mitch and Gail on the Creek. Their story drove me insane and I thought I was going to die of boredom. I. Just. Didn't. Care.

With The O.C. I find the adult storylines extremely entertaining and many times even more compelling and intriguing than the teen storylines..

I agree with what all of you have said.

The reason why I started watching it was because I have been an Adam Brody fan since Gilmore girls so I just wanted to give his new show a chance..I never thought I would fall in love with it like I have. I basically watch the show because it has just the right amount of everything, there hasn't been one episode that has dissapointed me. I became addicted since the first episode.

Also, FOX is more popular than the WB and there aren't many other teen soaps on other networks besides the WB so that could be a reason.

Yeah and Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson make it even better so yeah..
