I am starting this here, I know that ATWT isn't the most popular soap but one of it's most popular characters is coming back & this is a good place to discuss it.

I just received my new Soap Opera Digest & it has a short interview with Paul Leyden who plays Simon.

He said it all started one night when he had dinner with Terri Colombino (Katie) & her husband. He said things have been going great professionally & he has been working a lot but he doesn't like Los Angeles. He needs an escape.

Terri said, "You should come back." From the sounds of it Terri talked to Exec. producer Chris Goutman & he called Paul soon after that. They played phone tag & not long after pilot season that he called again & things got going.

Simon makes his return June 16th. And "For now it is until the end of the year. That's what we have agreed upon. After that we will see what happens."

Here is my favorite part!!

He will also be free of the troubles that plagued him in 2004 when Simon destroyed his relationship with Katie. "I'm happy to play what they write me, but at the same time, there's some love for the character and I didn't like the way he had become. He was weak and nasty; he lost that humor and sense of fun." Leyden says, "So this time around Chris said that Simon would go back to more of the old Simon."YAY!!

I am really glad Terri got the ball rolling on this. I think she missed working with him too.

Also Mike & Katie get married & then Mike is arrested for the murder of the skelton, "Maya Gold" who died 13 yrs. ago.

Also they have recast the role of Lucy with Spencer Grammer, the daughter of Emmy winning actor, Kelsey Grammer, of "Frasier" & "Cheers" fame.

Paolo Seganti (ex-Damien) is also coming back sometime in May for the Luke storyline.

I read on another board that Paul Leyden just signed a 1-year contract. That's soo much better than the original 6 months mentioned earlier.

I watched ATWT when I can, but I lost a lot of love when they destroyed Simon's character. SO glad he's coming back!

That is terrific that Paul has signed a year contract. I loved he & katie together. But I agree wiht others who say they destroyed both Simon & katie wth he last storyline. Katie used to be so much fun when she was wiht Simon. I would also love some great Simon/Henry scenes.

And maybe ATWT can work around Paul if he gets outside jobs like they did for Mark Collier & Greyson McCouch.

I like Damian but I never liked he & Lily, it is good that he is coming back for this storyline.

I think she has a good pedigree, just like Jennifer Landon. Acting is all that really matters.

You know I was watching the Carly/Nick scenes today & I like Nick. I can't help it. I wish they would keep him & get rid of Mike. I think he & Maura West have very good chemistry. To me the Jack/Carly thing is all played out. As much as I like Jack & Michael Parks.

Now I have a lot more reason to tune in
