THURSDAY: 8:00-9:00 P.M. “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” (New Series)

Four months after the tragic car accident that killed their parents, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev, “DeGrassi: The Next Generation”) and her 15-year-old brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen, “Everwood”) are still trying to cope with their grief and move on with their lives. Elena has always been the star student; beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends, but now she finds herself struggling to hide her sadness from the world. As the school year begins, Elena and her friends are fascinated by a handsome and mysterious new student, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley, “Army Wives”). Stefan and Elena are immediately drawn to one another, and Elena has no way of knowing that Stefan is a centuries-old vampire, struggling to live peacefully among humans, while his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder, “Lost”) is the embodiment of vampire violence and brutality. Now these two vampire brothers - one good, one evil - are at war for Elena’s soul and for the souls of her friends, family and all the residents of the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. Based on the series of books by L. J. Smith, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is from Alloy Entertainment and Bonanza Productions Inc in association with Warner Bros. We now have our Damon Salvatore, in Lost’s Ian Somerhalder, along with Matt (Zach Roerig) and Vicki (Kayla Ewell) cast for the Vampire Diaries TV series. From Variety:

Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone on ABC’s hit “Lost,” has joined the cast of the CW’s drama pilot “Vampire Diaries.”

Somerhalder is set to play Damon, a smug vampire who can go from playful to evil in a split second.

Also joining the cast are Zach Roerig (”Friday Night Lights”), who will play the jock Matt, and Kayla Ewell (”Entourage”), who will play Matt’s sister.

Cindy Busby was also added on the cast, although, no word on what role will she be playing. "It was just like a dream come true,” she says of landing the gig. “I personally have always been a huge vampire fan. When I was a kid, it was all that I would ever have nightmares about, which is so weird. But at the same time, I enjoyed it. It was kind of like an enjoyable torture.”

She is repped by Innovative.

Steven R. McQueen - the grandson of Steve McQueen - is set to play Jeremy in “Vampire Diaries.”
McQueen’s credits include “Everwood” and “CSI: Miami,”

Paul Wesley is set to star opposite Nina Dobrev in CW’s drama pilot “Vampire Diaries.”

Based on the Alloy novels, WBTV’s “Vampire” centers on Elena (Dobrev), a tragic heroine who is the object of passion for two vampire brothers, Stefan (Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

Stefan is described as “gloriously, amazingly, epically beautiful young man” who is actually a 200-year-old vampire who has a strong connection with Elena.
