I recently watched the show for the first time, and was surprised at the hostility in fandom over Mon-El and his relationship with Kara.

I personally feel like he took a lot away from the story and changed Kara as a character, and not for the best. He was the typical douchey, full of himself pretty boy who needed a "good girl" to help him change. On top of that, Kara made it clear she didn't want to be in a relationship in the beginning of the season, because she wanted to focus on being Supergirl, and then to have her start to fall for Mon-El several episodes later was ridiculous. I also thought their attraction was merely brought on by the fact that Melissa and Chris started dating, because they could've easily given the two a brother/sister dynamic and have it echo that of her and Superman.... but alas this is now on the CW. Not everyone can be just friends.

I agree with this and I am sorry that Supergirl writers fell into this old trap and wrote a story like this that has been done to death on CW and is just old, outdated and boring to me and I think Chris deserved better than it too.

At least they met, and are dating in real life.

What's important is they're both happy.

Damn shame.

CBS Supergirl and CW Supergirl are two different people imo.

Chris Wood was great on Vampire Diaries. I gave up watching the show long ago but solely watched again because he was so interesting.

True. CBS Supergirl could afford Calista Flockhart for a whole season.

Lol that's true too, but I mean the character. CBS Kara and CW Kara are different imo.

It's like this running joke.

She's still a hero, and a working woman, trying to make a difference in the world.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see how a relationship changes who she is at her very core.

Oh you're a Karamel fan? I see. Agree to disagree on the subject on Kara.

We all have differing views on this one.

No. I'm a Kara fan. She makes her own choices. To be a hero, and be a reporter.

A relationship does not change that. But yes. Agree to disagree.

Ok if you're just a Kara a fan? Then differing opinions on her shouldn't be that deep.

I think the relationship did change her for the worst. When you're with a former slave owner who misses objectifying women. You're not the same person you once were.

Glad we've both outlined our differing views. Now we can move on.

You started it.

Like I said. She's a hero and she's a reporter. I just want her to be those and find some happiness in the world.

Started it? What are we 12? I didn't ever start a conversation with you.

I was responding to Ellielover19 and you responded to me. Then again with my post about the differences was to Ellielover19.

What more do you want? It's just a differing opinion. Why are you turning it into something?

Getting back to season 3.

This Reign character is an interesting idea. Especially if she has her own human identity and may not even have control over what the scientists on krypton turned her into.

Knowing Kara, she would probably try to help her first.
