Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to Storybrooke, Maine, a small town that probably won't show up on one's GPS, but it's a place where magic is coming!

To ensure that no one in fairytale land – especially Snow White – had any more "happily ever afters," Evil Queen Regina cast a curse which trapped the fairytale characters, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world. Although still alive, they had no knowledge of their former selves and were sleepwalking through life – ageless -- for 28 years, until a savior arrived in the form of Emma Swan. Unbeknownst to Emma, she was the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who had whisked her out of fairytale land and into our world as an infant to save her from the curse. Abandoned as a baby, Emma's life was anything but magical; her last job was as a bail bondsperson, but she mostly drifted without much of a life plan. When her 10-year-old son, Henry -- whom she had given up for adoption years earlier -- appeared on her doorstep with a book of fairytales and a wild story about how Emma was the progeny of fairytale characters trapped in a town called Storybrooke, she thought he was crazy. But curiosity got the better of her, and when she brought Henry back to the town – where Regina, ever the control freak, had made herself mayor and was also Henry's adoptive mother -- Emma soon discovered that Storybrooke was more than it seemed. Over time she came to believe the stories were true, began to see cracks in the curse, and was finally able to break it.

Reality and myth were merged as the fairytale characters began awakening, once the curse was lifted, and remembered who they were. But to their dismay they were not transported back to fairytale land. And to make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin – aka Mr. Gold – in an effort to gain the upper hand in his power struggle with Regina, introduced magic into the town. In fairytales magic has its place, but in our world it can have unfathomable consequences. Now the fairytale characters must contend with magic in their quest to find a way home, as new fairytale characters are revealed, old acquaintances are revisited, and some we had come to believe could be trusted will turn against their own kind.

"Once Upon a Time" stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook, Michael Raymond-James as Baelfire/Neal and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.

SEASON 3 SPOILERS
  • Dina: I am going through Once Upon a Time withdrawals. Got any scoop on what to expect?
A trip to a new land…possibly a permanent one! "They sort of set up that we are maybe heading to another land. They've teased that at the end of season two," Jennifer Morrison teases of season three. "I will be interested to see how we are all impacted by that new land. I think whenever we're in a place where everyone's relationships are impacted by their environment and it heightens the stakes for everyone, it becomes very interesting drama." Source
  • Question: Any intel on Once Upon a Time‘s casting of Peter Pan? —George
Ausiello: The role of Peter Pan will be played by… a dude! “I can confirm that it will be a male playing the part,” exec producer Adam Horowitz tells TVLine. Beyond that, “Anything to do with that casting we don’t want to talk about, because that would be a big spoiler. Our approach to Peter Pan is one we’re super-excited about. Since Season 1, the Peter Pan mythology was something we wanted to do, but we couldn’t because of the rights issues. Once they were dealt with, we were able to finally go to town and open that world up. We started with Captain Hook, and we knew we wanted to build to what we’re about to do in Season 3.” Source
  • What’s going to happen to Storybrooke on Once Upon a Time? —Lauren
NATALIE: Just because most of the ABC’s fairy-tale drama’s main characters went through a portal to Neverland does not mean we won’t be seeing Storybrooke next season. In fact, Emilie de Ravin, whose Belle has been left in charge of the town, confirms that she’ll continue to be a series regular in Season 3. The Lost alum also notes that even though Belle’s memories are allintact, it doesn’t mean she’ll write Mr. Gold off for his actions while she was Lacey. “She was going along with it though, so therefore you can’t blame him if you’re the one saying, ‘Kick that guy’s a—,” she says, noting that Belle will be devastated about his absence when the show returns. “But also she’ll gain her strength back and she’ll have to if she’s going to protect an entire town.” Source
  • Is it just me, or do you think Hook has feelings for Emma on Once Upon a Time? Any scoop on them would be awesome! –Kelley B
You know my stance on the whole Emma thing: What guy wouldn’t? But where Hook is concerned, seeing as he’s now on a journey with two eligible bachelorettes, the Jolly Roger might transform into the Love Boat. “It’s probably about time he sort of found another love in his life,” Colin O’Donoghue shared with me at season’s end. “But if it was a toss-up between [traveling companions] Regina or Emma, I’m not sure exactly who he’d go for.” Given that Emma is currently reeling from the loss of Neal, “Maybe he’ll have fun with Regina, while he’s waiting for Emma,” the pirate’s portrayer ventures. “Who knows!” Source
  • Do you have any scoop on the "home office" on Once Upon a Time? — Jennie
The home office wanted to destroy magic in our world, but that doesn't mean that Peter Pan isn't part of it. Speaking of the mysterious organization, executive producer Adam Horowitz promises pay-off. "We're going to explain pretty quickly what it is and how, as we showed in the finale, Greg and Tamara were unwittingly working for Peter Pan, and how that all connects." It was curious that they were so against magic, right? Source
  • Does Once Upon a Time plan on telling the current stories of the characters in Storybrooke, or will Season 3 focus on Neverland and the Enchanted Forest? –Ellie
In case my previous scoopage on this subject did not reassure you that, as the headline said, “Storybrooke will not be forgotten,” I just confirmed that Emilie de Ravin is still a series regular for Season 3. Thus, it sounds like Belle will certainly have Maine events of her own to deal with back home.
Will Once Upon a Time explain how Mulan and Aurora helped Phillip get his soul back from the wraith? –JJ
Series cocreator Adam Horowitz confirms that yes, that burning question will be addressed during Season 3 — and likely on the sooner side, I reckon, since Jamie Chung and Sarah Bolger have midseason pilots (NBC’s Believe, ABC’s Mixology) to get to! Source.:
  • Question: Do you have any info on who will be Peter Pan in next season’s Once Upon a Time? —Wolf
Ausiello: As we previously reported, the producers are hoping to keep the casting of Peter Pan under wraps — maybe with an eye on a big Comic-Con reveal? But while on the subject of Neverland, the ABC drama is also filling the heavily recurring role of Rufio, aka the teenage leader of the Lost Boys. The character, per lore, is described as forever youthful, mischievous and harboring a penchant for clever games — but behind his playful façade lurks a petulant child twisted enough to destroy anyone who crosses his path. King Joffrey, call your agent!
Question: Plz plz plz let me know when Once Upon a Time Season 3 starts! I’m addicted to this series and can’t wait to find out what happens next. –Logan
Ausiello: ABC — the last broadcaster to announce its fall premiere dates — isn’t in any rush to do so, so instead can I placate you with a plum piece of scoop? Sources tell me that Robin Hood will resurface in Season 3, but will be played by a different, yet-to-be-cast actor, seeing as Tom Ellis (Merlin) isn’t available for a recurring run. Who’s your pick to “rob” Ellis of his role? Anyone know what Matt Smith’s up to these days? Source
  • Tinker Bell's Turn
Clap your hands if you believe in fairies, Once Upon a Time fans! And if you clap loudly enough, you might just get to meet Tinker Bell. With the action moving from Storybrooke to Neverland in Season 3, Peter Pan's favorite fairy is expected to play a significant role. In keeping with Once tradition, viewers will discover that Tink shares a surprising connection to one of the regulars. I do believe in fairies! I do! I do! Source
  • Question: Are the rumors true about Once Upon a Time introducing Tinker Bell? —Bonnie
Ausiello: I’ll answer that question by describing to you the new character of Violet and letting you draw your own conclusions. How about that? Vi is a mischievous twentysomething whose penchant for troublemaking belies the heart of a true survivor. (Interesting side note, especially for Hook if she is Tinkerbell: She never lets a slight go unpunished!) Source :
  • Do you have any Regina-related scoop for Once Upon a Time Season 3? –ZsaZsa
And how! With an eye on the upcoming run, series cocreator Adam Horowitz tells us, “We may find out that perhaps, just perhaps, there is a special someone out there for Regina.” Source
  • Peter Pan, a new Robin Hood, Lost Boys plural….. Should Once Upon a Time fans be worried that the main cast will be overshadowed by the Season 3 newbies? –Devin
I wouldn’t worry. I mean, we knew Peter Pan was coming, and where theres’ Pan, there are Lost Boys in the background. And Robin Hood, I suspect, will play a role on whats going on in the Fairytale Land That Is, probably impeding Neal’s return “home.” As series cocreator Adam Horowitz told me (after I suggested they’d be giving Belle new friends there in Storybrooke), “There will be some new characters, but for the most part were going to be focusing on our core group of regulars from Seasons 1 and 2. If characters do come in, it will, at least at first, be more akin to how we used Robin Hood in Season 2.” Source
  • Will we get a definitive explanation of the Home Office on Once Upon a Time? — Pedro
NATALIE: Yes, in the season premiere. "As we stated in the finale, Greg and Tamara don't know that they're working for Peter Pan," executive producer Adam Horowitz says. "So the Home Office is related to Pan, but that'll be cleared up pretty quickly." Oh, and it may have appeared that Ariel was in Storybrooke in that Comic-Con teaser, but the producers say that she'll actually be in Neverland. Source
  • How will they rescue Henry on Once Upon a Time? —Jennie
NATALIE: Snow White and Prince Charming will find themselves trying to set a good and noble example for their daughter Emma when they head to Neverland, lest she turn to other means to get Henry back. "If the Queen's got a better way to get Henry that may break the law, so be it. It's prison rules," says executive producer Adam Horowitz. That will be difficult for Snow, who is still struggling with her blackened heart. "This year, it's about finding the hope," he adds. "It's the hope that Snow White always brought to us. She's the light. I think she's going to see a lot of darkness and realize that the best thing she can do is return the light to not just her, but to get daughter and her husband." Source
  • theOUATspoiler: Can you ask the Once Upon a Time creators for a clue to who Tinkerbell has the special connection with that they mentioned at Comic Con?
Because we're in such a magical mood, we're going to sprinkle a little extra fairy dust on this answer! We recently caught up with the enchanted Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and they spilled that the newly cast Tinkerbell will have a connection to not one, but two characters aboard the Jolly Roger! (Cue the applause!) The fellas revealed that the iconic fairy and our swoon-worthy Captain Hook have a complicated Neverland history together, but we're still left guessing at Tink's other tie-in. So who could it be? The obvious choice would be that she's in Rumplestilskin's magical Rolodex, but we think it's going to be a bit more twisted than that. (Perhaps she's Charming's ex-girlfriend?! We kid, we kid!) Source
  • Question: I’d like to know more about the new season of Once Upon A Time! –Joe
Ausiello: Lost fans just might get a sense of Season 4 deja vu when the Jolly Roger drops anchor in Neverland, and its passengers ultimately face the decision of who to follow. “You’ve got five people on a ship who all think they’re leaders, so we’ll have to see how they react when they face their first obstacle,” series cocreator Eddy Kitsis hints. Adds Adam Horowitz, “Theres certainly some friction, but theres also a shared goal they have to achieve” — finding Henry. “The question is: Will they achieve it together, separately or at all?” Source
  • Do you have more details on Regina's love interest on Once Upon a Time? — Micah
NATALIE: We'll meet her love interest very early on in the season, which presumably means that he or she hails from Neverland. "It's a side of the character of Regina we've only touched upon in the first two seasons," executive producer Adam Horowitz says. "We're excited to see more of that and more importantly to explore her capacity for love." Does anyone else think she could be paired with him? Source
  • I’d like some Once Upon a Time scoop — especially about the “Boy Who Never Grew Up.” –Mason
You may be wondering, as I was, why Once‘s Peter Pan is a force “we all should fear”? (Or was Rumple overselling it?) “There’s a history between those two,” series cocreator Adam Horowitz affirms. “There is a big reason why he said if you’re going to be scared of someone, this is the guy to be scared of.” But there is also a degree of professional respect. “When you meet Pan, you’re going to see a very, very, very clever person,” says Eddy Kitsis. “And if there’s one thing Rumple admires, it’s somebody who has game.”
Please help us, we are all dying here! What else can you say about Regina’s new love interest/”special someone” on Once Upon a Time? –Ana
Fine, fine. I doubled back with the boys and Horowitz said that this “someone” “becomes a part of the show very quickly” – within the first five episodes – “but in a way that you don’t expect.” Source

I'm curious about episode 3 - the title indicates that it's about a fairy (which either means TBF or Tinkerbell), but I'm hoping it's Nova back with Leroy .

Tinkerbell's a pixie though, so maybe it's the backstory of the Blue Fairy? But if it's in Neverland .... Hmmm. Could be interesting.

Catching up from the last thread:

Belle

Quote:
I disagree. I think they showed a lot of character growth for Belle last season. I was really glad that they had her move out of Gold's house early on and start a life of her own separate from him. Maybe they didn't show as much of that as I wanted but it was still shown.
I loved that Belle got a job, but we saw her as librarian in exactly two episodes. The famous apartment where she didn’t owe Gold rent? Not at all. Moreover, she never got to speak a word about what it was like to be chained up for years. She never got to confront Regina or Hook for what they did to her. She didn’t even get to call out the Charmings and (especially) Archie and Ruby for gaslighting her when she was amnesiac, leaving her in the “care” of that bitch of a nurse with her needle, and letting Regina just waltz into her room and magic her (TWICE). It’s a good thing that Cora didn’t bother with Belle, because since she had no protection at all, Cora could have killed her like that! {snap}

Quote:
Also Lacey was in Belle's POV. It was a really cool Rumbelle episode because the flashbacks were in Belle's POV and the present day scenes were in Rumple's POV.
IMO it was constructed like Skin Deep, where the fairybacks gave both their POVs but the SB scenes were purely Rumple’s. And Lacey could have given us so much insight into Belle, because I don’t buy that the SB personalities were all just constructs invented by Regina. Everyone of them had many aspects of the real personality in them, even David—Lacey had Belle’s as well. But she was also a Belle who had suffered a LOT more than the one we meet in Skin Deep.

It’s not that I want OUAT to be the Rumbelle show (which, okay, I wouldn’t mind)—I do accept that Belle isn’t a core character and won’t be featured that often. It’s just that I think she could be better used when she IS featured.

Charming

It’s not that he gets put in the closet for months at a time the way Belle does; it’s more that he’s usually just around to support Snow or do plot-related things. He did get some good scenes with Henry early on that I’d forgotten, but in general he, like Belle, is mostly used as a love interest. IMO, of course.

Neal

Quote:
More than anything they need to show Neal sticking to something and fighting for his place in the world. So far all they've shown him to be is a coward and someone who runs (Neal not Baelfire). To me it would be a lot more impressive for him to be in Storybrooke and helping Belle protect the town than having some grand adventure in the Enchanted Forest and repeating last year's storyline.
Why would Neal sitting it out in SB make him a better father than trying to get to NL? And TBH, though I have a lot of issues with Neal in S2 (and agree there's a complete disconnect between Dylan's Bae and MRJ's Neal), I don’t understand the argument that he’s cowardly. He picked up a sword against wicked witches the first chance he got. He jumped into fatherhood headfirst. He let himself fall into the pit. And based on his (very belated) apology to Emma, his unwillingness to seek her out is because of absolutely justifiable SHAME, not fear.

Is the argument based on about two lines in Manhattan where he said he was afraid of Rumple? (Which he never said before or after.) If he IS afraid of Rumple, that actually makes his actions braver (bravery is overcoming fears, not never having them; that’s foolhardiness). At least twice he’s physically placed himself between Rumple and someone else—Emma in the apartment and Whale when Rum was curb-stomping him. And fear of Rumple actually supports the writer/MRJ party line that Neal was making a sacrifice, taking one for the team when he let August talk him into abandoning Emma. The easy way to keep Rumple away from him forever would be to stick to Emma like glue and keep her from fulfilling her destiny so that Rumple is permanently locked up in SB. If Emma breaks the curse, not only does she get her family back, Rum can come find Neal. Which of course is what happened.

Neal’s problem is not cowardice; it’s that the writing makes him so gullible and reactive and DUMB. He just buys into whatever story people tell him.

Quote:
Making Neal's desire to get back to Storybrooke all about Emma is the worst thing the show can do to his character. Yes Tamara was using him but they were engaged and he did love her. Throwing him into a love triangle on the tail of that betrayal is awful storytelling and makes him look fickle. More than the godawful ILY scene already does.
MRJ has said in interviews that Neal is trying to get back to Emma AND Henry (thinking they’re both in SB), so it’s not only about the romance; it’s about family. But as for Tamara—it’s been made pretty clear as well that he WASN’T in love with her; he never got over Emma. We’ve had Rumple and Tamara herself tell him so onscreen; we’ve had him declare love to Emma (which IMO was sudden but understandable; c’mon, when you’re about to die the truth comes out). What the Tamara episode does is make him look SHALLOW and gullible and foolish and insensitive, especially since he more or less flaunted her in Emma’s face. It’s the single most destructive thing about the writing for Neal in S2, IMO, and I would be perfectly happy if it just turns out she brainwashed him or mind-controlled him, retcon or not.

Quote:
How could his motivation be about becoming a good father if he just stays put when the love of his life and his son are in possible mortal danger?

Neal was able to leave NVL so he may know how to rescue them. If he does and just sits on that knowledge it would be very lame.
Agreed! And you said it much better than I did.

Emma

Quote:
About Emma I would be really shocked if the love triangle doesn't ruin her character.
I hope not, but triangles do tend to do a number on the person in the middle. I have some hope because the writers did “protect” Emma a little by making her think Neal is dead—but it would have been a lot better for her character getting over him immediately if he’d “died” without them having those confessions of love.

Regina

Quote:
Cool i like Regina episodes except when they make her to psychotic
So you're saying you don’t like Regina episodes?

Quote:
I thought Robert was referring to Rumple and Belle having moments in 3x02 rather than 3x03, but I can't remember if he explicitly said that or it was just assumed given he said it at Comic Con when they had been filming for 3x01 and started 3x02 after so the script would probably have been given to them.
I thought it was 3.2 as well, but now that you mention it I’m not sure.
If 3.3 is confirmed Regina, then her scenes in 3.2 are probably with Snow and Charming. In other words, in the part of the story that we have seen over and over, so unless it is a missing second adventure when they fall deeper in love…Regina’s outfits will probably be the highlight.

Though Tink may be a pixie, she has been headlining Disney's "Fairies" brand for the last few years, meaning she will likely be a fairy here too.

Alright Regina's LI screams Robin Hood or it's someone that was mysteriously cast but we won't know whom it is until we see them on screen or an original character.

I realize this is just oddball randomness, but I was thinking how odd it was Regina hadn't had a child.

OK, odd on one level, not odd on another. The evil queen is an archetype of the evil mother. Evil mothers come in assorted sizes and shapes. They may be like the witch in Hansel and Gretel, who (literally or figuratively) wants to devour the child hero/heroine. Although they can actually be the hero/heroine's mother, they're more often a stepmother, someone who is seen more naturally viewing the hero/heroine as a rival (either on her own behalf or on behalf of the stepmother's children).

Anyhow, the devouring, repressive mother figure is often seen as anti-life. She destroys life rather than creates it. If she has children, they are often no more than extensions of her (exceptions are children of evil witches who fall in love with the hero or heroine and help them). She may acquire a child, like Rapunzel, but don't expect the birthmother to be happy about it and don't expect the evil mother to be nurturing.

So, taken as an archetype, Regina should be childless or have an adopted child she tries too hard to control and repress.

But, taken as a person, Regina shows early on an interest in having a child. Even before the curse, she tries to get Hansel and Gretel to accept her as a mother.

There's evidence that FTL follows the European model that boys inherit kingdoms before girls. In the scenario, Regina would have strengthened her position if she'd had a son. No matter what rumors were going around about the king's death, her son would be the rightful heir, not Snow.

Even if the kingdom operated on primogeniture or some rule that gave Queen Eva's child a better claim than Regina's, blood heirs usually get better PR than heirs by marriage.

After being a widow, a child without a husband might have created a scandal--but so does being a wicked witch. And, if she'd asked Graham to marry her, she could have made sure he said yes. Ditto most other guys (Regina as David's Wicked Stepmum if she married King George. Or, if George is his Wicked Stepdad, is she his Wicked Step-Stepmum? Or does the Stepdad of the brother you were separated from at birth count as more of an Evil Uncle, even if he does make you pretend to be your brother? The Clan Charmings Thanksgiving Dinner already requires peacekeeping forces even without trying to figure out the place cards, so it might be better not to think about this).

As for fertility issues, she was trained by Rumplestiltskin. Exactly how many times has he been consulted by childless couples? He may be best known for adoptions, but don't tell me he doesn't know how to deal with all the other problems.

I felt in Evil Queen where she burned down the village and acted mad because people didn't love her to be psychotic even for Regina. I mean her father was alive at the time.
I did like her scenes with Snow in the episode though. Robin Hood would be an intresting LI for her if she didn't cause him physical or emotional pain.
