Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to join Emma Swan, Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumplestiltskin, Hook and the Evil Queen Regina as they travel through a portal on the Jolly Roger in an effort to reach Neverland and rescue Henry.

Welcome to Storybrooke, Maine, a small town that probably won't show up on your GPS, but it's a magical place to visit. Reality and myth merged after Emma broke Regina's curse, which had deprived the fairytale characters of their memories and trapped them in our modern world. When they finally regained their identities, our heroes were dismayed to discover that they weren't transported back to Fairy Tale Land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin - aka Mr. Gold - decided to escalate his power struggle with Regina by introducing magic into the town. But this is our world, and magic always has a tendency to yield unfathomable consequences.

And they all lived happily ever after... Hardly!

All is not well back in the Enchanted Forest when Hook comes calling on Emma in New York City in an attempt to jog her memory so that she can once again help her fairy tale family and friends out of a desperate situation. Everyone she holds dear is in danger as a new foe emerges - the Wicked Witch of the West (Rebecca Mader, "Lost"). Hook now must enlist Emma in an epic struggle that spans worlds: with the highest stakes possible - the fate of her family. No one remembers how they were transported back or the past year they had spent back in Fairy Tale Land. But someone in town is responsible for this curse, and all clues point to the Wicked Witch of the West, whose agenda in our world is a mystery. In an attempt to break the curse, new fairytale characters will be revealed and old acquaintances will be revisited. But not everyone can be trusted. X

  As already hinted, Hook will have a tough time getting back in Emma’s good graces, especially given how their first NYC “reunion” went. “She will be very wary” of this stranger, cocreator Eddy Kitsis previews. “I mean, if someone knocked on your door wearing leather and guyliner and tried to kiss you…? He’s lucky he didn’t get a baseball hat to the head!” Adds Adam Horowitz: “Emma’s a tough cookie when she has her memories. So without them, it’s not going to an easy road for him.”

An Episode 18 flashback will introduce us to Prince Leopold aka the man who will one day be Snow White’s father. The younger Leo is described as grounded, humble and not afraid to open his heart, coveting more from marriage than just a political arrangement.   This can’t bode well for our resident swashbuckler: As we speak, the show is casting the one-episode role of Blackbeard, a cut-throat pirate if there ever was one.
• How different is this Emma from the one we've known?
  Kitsis: It was an important thing. Emma, as a character, we love her. She has some new memories, but that didn't ruin her upbringing. She still grew up tough, she still grew up with a wall. It was her against the world and what we'll see is with these new memories it's now her and Henry against the world. She still is the same person, but we're going to really explore what her life is like in Episode 12 called "New York City Serenade." Source

  NATALIE: As of two weeks ago when I was on set, Lana Parrilla told me nothing had come up in scripts between the two of them, but she expected it to happen toward the end of the season — though it might not be as easy as we'd all hope. "She's closed her heart off to any romance," Parrilla says. "She doesn't look at anyone with lust or desire. But I do hope that Regina opens her heart again to love. It's been many, many years.   NATALIE: Now that Neal has discovered the truth about his lineage, it will open the door for father and son to finally have a relationship. "It provides an opportunity for Neal to see his father as someone who carried a burden for hundreds of years because he was hurt or embarrassed about Pan being his father," Michael Raymond-James says. "It really allows him to see his dad in a new light. That's a revelatory moment for Neal." Source
• Question: Can you offer up any clues on the location/setting for the second half of Once Upon a Time Season 3 (premiering March 9)? Will it take place entirely in Storybrooke, or will there be trips to another never-before-seen world? — abz
  Ausiello: Better than clues, we have cold, hard facts. More akin to Season 1′s storytelling, “The second half [of Season 3] will take place between Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest,” series cocreator Eddy Kitsis told Matt Mitovich. In other words, EP Adam Horowitz underscored, “It’s not a ‘journey to another land’ paradigm” à la the Neverland arc concluding Dec. 15. “We always have the ability and the desire to dip into other lands, which it’s more than likely we shall do,” Horowitz added, “but it will be in the way that we’ve done it in the past, as opposed to locking all of our characters onto a boat and sending them [to a new realm].” Source

  She's one of the best female villians of all time, and not just in recent Disney history. This one even has her own theme music! Also, we can tell you that she is being brought in because now that Rumple and Regina have made peace, the writers felt they needed a new Big Bad and Mader's character will definitely be at odds with Regina. Any clue what is going on with Neal on Once Upon a Time? His fans are worried! –Sara
Patience, dearie. Within the next few episodes, the mystery of what’s been going on with Neal in Storybrooke will be answered.

Question: I’ve heard that Ariel will be back on Once Upon a Time. How will she be involved in the plot? —Ilenia
Ausiello: Without divulging the exact storyline, Colin O’Donoghue says that JoAnna Garcia Swisher’s encore as the Little Mermaid means “You’ll get to see Hook and Ariel interact a bit, which I think will be fun. They have a ‘tricky’ sort of relationship, and I think people will like it.”

Hook goes up against another foe: In an upcoming episode, Hook will meet yet another nemesis, this time in Blackbeard (Charles Mesure). “He is a pirate through and through and he and Captain Hook do not have a love for each other, and the only thing two pirates will fight over — even more than a woman — would be a ship,” Kitsis hints.”

How about some Hook scoop on Once Upon a Time for once! — Irina
Sure thing. Hook's missing year includes a battle with the infamous Blackbeard (Charles Mesure), who may have his eye on the Jolly Roger. "He and Captain Hook do not have a lot of love for each other," executive producer Edward Kitsis says. "The only thing two pirates would fight over even more than a woman would be a ship." Ruh-roh! We'll also see an entire episode devoted to the mysterious message Hook received about retrieving Emma.

TV Guide Magazine: Speaking of that: How will she and Henry reconnect with the others?
Morrison: Emma will be shaken out of her memory loss sooner than Henry — she gets pulled out of that and needs to go find her family. We'll spend a lot of the second half of the season trying to track down who caused the new curse and why.

TV Guide Magazine: Who would you like to see her end up with?
Morrison: Obviously, Emma has a connection to Neal — she spent an incredible time in her life with him. And Hook has proven himself to be someone who's helping and has truly changed. But from an acting perspective, I have really strong feelings about not judging my characters' choices — in any role that I take on. If I were playing a serial killer, I would have to figure out a way to love that person and [discover] what motivated her. No one walks around trying to be terrible!

I'm told that no such art exists, but that doesn't mean they don't have any scenes together. "[We're] going to see them meet very shortly -- in fact, in the next episode," executive producer Adam Horowitz teases. "Whether true love happens or not, it's going to be hopefully a very interesting road that they travel together." He means that literally, in case you were wondering. Also, just wait until Regina sees his tattoo.

HOW DID HOOK MANAGE TO CROSS REALMS? WHO SENT HIM THE MESSAGE THAT EMMA'S FAMILY WAS IN TROUBLE? AND WHO SUPPLIED THE MEMORY POTION?
At the time I spoke to Colin O'Donoghue on set (during the filming of Episode 18), he said the backstory behind Hook's journey had yet to be addressed. Update: But before then, we will learn the source of the potion. And before Season 3 closes, an entire episode will solve the remaining riddles and more -- including the possibility that whomever cast the new curse wanted the pirate to seek out Emma. "It could be a trap," Eddy Kitsis allows. "[The message] could also have been sent from somebody different than who he thought."

ARE PEOPLE FREAKED ABOUT THEIR 'LOST' YEAR?
Though the Charmings relayed the intel on their selective amnesia somewhat matter-of-factly to Emma, rest assured, "They're totally alarmed by it," Josh Dallas reports. The Charmings will set out to spread the word of Emma's return and take stock of who's around in town (and who isn't), before diving into the mystery of who's behind their mysterious fate. "It's like a game of Clue for a while - like, 'It was Mr. Plum in the library with the candlestick,'" Jennifer Morrison offers. "Everybody is trying to piece together who was where with who and why, and whether this person is lying or that one."

WILL BELLE HAVE A STORY IN SEASON 3B?
Left behind in Storybrooke for the bulk of the Neverland arc, the beast's beauty will figure into "a significant story that is launched by those scenes from the first episode that involves [her and] Neal" in Fairytale Land, says Adam Horowitz. In turn, "Belle's role in Storybrooke in the present is going to reflect on what you see us explore in the past." Adds Eddy Kitsis, "What we loved about the character [of Belle] was she was a bookworm who wanted to actually experience adventure… and this year you're going to start seeing her kind of come into her own by using her brain. She's going to be a hero that will reach for a book or use her intelligence more than a sword."

And lastly — you’ve said that you personally can’t choose between Emma’s two main love interests, Hook and Neal. Why is it so tough for you to take sides?
I really genuinely mean that. I know people think I’m just saying that, but they’ve set it up to be a really tough decision for Emma. No matter what, Neal is going to be meaningful to her because he’s always going to be the father of Henry. And then we’ve gone on this journey with Hook now, where he’s really changed, and he’s really stepped up, and he continuously does things where he’s there for Emma. And that’s the biggest thing that’s gone wrong for her in the past — she’s been abandoned, and she’s been left on her own, and people have let her down over and over again. So for someone to consistently be there for her is really compelling and attractive. And the time that she did spend with Neal before he was forced to let her go was really wonderful. So it really is this very, very complicated, layered problem. What also makes it an interesting love triangle is that Hook and Neal are friends, and they respect each other. So we’re not in a catty love triangle; everyone really cares about each other, and respects each other.

Well, Hook did kind of break up Bae’s parents. So that adds an extra weird layer.
It does. But also, Milah did run away from Rumpel first, you know what I mean? She came to him. At least now, in terms of the kind of person Hook is now, Bae and Hook have a good relationship, and they respect each other. And I think that makes a more compelling love triangle — there’s so much more heartbreak when everyone cares about each other, because no one wants to hurt each other. And yet everybody wants what everybody else wants.
