I'll have to disagree, Amanda. I do think Mark is going after a bit of camp in this scene. While I agree that Peyton's feelings will obviously be heartfelt, the whole premise is campy. Skills's comment and Brooke's "Oh, brother," is humorous. I actually commend Mark a bit for not using the usual soapy dialogue in this scene. It's campy.

I can't see Lucas telling Brooke "No" either. Even if he's freaked out, like mentioned, he probably won't have the heart to come right out and just say no. But what if Lindsey has totally nixed the idea and Lucas goes along with her, because he respects and honors her wishes, especially as her future husband. Then as soon as the LL wedding is called off, Brooke's initial reaction is to tell Peyton about her proposition, hoping that Peyton will agree to it?

This is why, for me personally, everything about Brooke's proposition hinges on when she first asks Lucas. If it's somewhere in the time frame of 5.04, then I'll be okay with it. If it's any time after the engagement, then....whoa...I don't know. That's just bordering on irrationality.

There a lot of missing scenes, that's for sure.

Brooke is telling Peyton to marry Lucas and if Owen gave her to the go ahead I'm sure she'd be rolling around in the sheets with him. Maybe BL will find their way later but right now they are not inlove.

And if Brooke was inlove with him still and asking him this, it makes this even worse. Having a child to stay connected to someone is a burden that child does not deserve. Not to mention she would be lying to Lucas about the reasons, which in a way would make her no better than girls that get knocked up to keep or catch a guy.

i totally agree, Lucas is in love with peyton, why would he give up his first born child to someone he doesnt even love, yes hes her friend, but still i dont think she should have asked him that, lucas still loves peyton and has a lot going in his life, i think that no matter what happened in the 4 years that brooke was gone from tree hill, she still is doesnt think clearly!!!

I agree Becky. I think Lucas either says he has to think about it or tell her no because he couldn't do that to Lindsey or Lindsey said hell no, which she should.

Point is obviously Lucas hasn't said yes if Brooke is so giddy minutes after Lucas just got humilated infront of 200 people unless she thinks now this is her chance. And she's telling Peyton now because she believes Peyton will be fine and dandy with it in a way Lindsey wouldn't be.

Which is pretty much shows she's being selfish. Instead of thinking Lucas may be hurting, she's planning her damn baby shower practically and she doesn't even think Peyton will have a problem with it.

Sure I hurt you when we were 16 Brooke, so go ahead take the man I love's first child. We can all 3 raise the baby together! How fun!

Again if this was reversed and Peyton was asking I'd be just as outraged because this is just insane, especially when Brooke is 22.

And it is sad that having a crazy Nanny kidnap Jamie isn't the most insane thing.

It's true. Brooke is practically planning her babyshower and just thinking of what she can get out of this now that the wedding isn't going to happen. Clearly she's not even thinking of how Peyton will feel about this at all. She's hugging her like Peyton is totally fine with it.

Carrie is a serious wacko. Maybe her and Brooke can be hauled off to the nuthouse together. At least Lindsey seems to have finally come to her senses.
